The advice around statins changed.. I challenged a doctor about an elder on statins... He knew he should have taken her off them. They all should have taken people off them and stopped recommending them a long time ago and they know it, or they should know it. It was widely reported they caused more harm than good and were no longer recommended... so it shows you how willful they are because of the money they bring.GP's are not audited.. they are exempt.. if that one thing changed...

I could tell them to change their diet, eat more veg, whole grains and fibre, eat less meat, dairy and pastry, I know it works, all the research shows it works, but suggesting that they change their diet doesn’t help. I know my patients, the majority of them would never consider changing their diet, pies are a tradition round here, giving advice is a waste of time.”

He was 53. He worked hard, active on his feet every day. He slowly went into a sugar craving lifestyle and couldn't stop. Knowing what was wrong and how to fix it is important. How to tell other how to change or why is just about impossible. Only a few will listen. Most have to find it out for them selves. Paul is a legend in simple story telling. I love butter. It's worth noting that calcium oxalate is one of the two main forms of calcium found in calcified atherosclerotic plaque, so plant compounds may be even more causative.
To add to that thought, if US president Eisenhower smoked 2-3 packs a day and that contributed to his heart attacks, then plants/tobacco may have played a significant role in initiating the dietary alterations brought on by Ancel Keys.

Hi, im 63, male. If you asked me last year what i thought was the ultimate human diet, i would have said something from the just juice bar. I was wrong. 7mths ago, i jumped straight into carnivore. I was fat sick and bloated. 120kg at 5'10". Im now 86kg, and still losing a kg a week. I have completely reversed arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, ibs, gastric reflux, depression, anxiety, prostate problems, joint pain, sleep apnoea and a host of other conditions most of which i had just put down to age. I dont snore anymore. I sleep like a baby, awake refreshed. My mind is clear and focused. I have dropped into eating once a day mostly, im never hungry, never sleep in the day anymore. Ive kicked my heart meds, and am exercising hard daily. My resting bp is lower without meds than when I was on meds. I eat a fatty steak cooked in saturated fat, maybe an egg here and there for variety. I have regained my life and I am heading back into the workforce. My bloodwork is pristine now, except for an elevated ldl which i dont care about. My real indication of cardiovascular disease, calcium test, returns at 0. I dont know what to say, ive found the golden ticket, and ive come back to life. My doctor was angry at me, and I was angry back; either he was lying to me, or he knew less about nutrition than I did! Im embarrassed that it took me till 63 to learn how to eat. My granddaughter is 11mths old. My daughter has fed her largely carnivore since 4mths. She is literally off the chart in growth and development, she walked at 9mths. She has bacon and eggs for brekky, and loves to chew on a fatty lamb chop at night. Carnivore works. I believe that its the ultimate elimination diet, and that i could add back in other foods without ill effect. Im in no hurry.

In my recent doctor appointment, he said since I've said I won't take a statin for any reason, there's no reason for him to even order a lipid panel blood test. I said "OK". But later I realized, wow! That was a tacit admission that he ONLY looks for opportunities to sell drugs, not for problems in my health.

Are circulating lipoproteins the cause of atherosclerosis? Yes, but ONLY if the following two criteria are concurrently satisfied: 1. They are oxidized and 2. They reside in the endothelium. Optimizing for the reduction of circulating lipoproteins (such as LDL) pales in comparison to the results achievable by optimizing for confereing said lipoproteins with protection from oxidation. The highest leverage ways to prevent lipoprotein oxidation are to 1. Avoid "vegetable" oils and PUFA in general, like the plague 2. Refrain from cigarette smoking 3. Increase your ratio of saturated to polyunsaturated fat intake and arguably most importantly, 4. Augment your antioxidant status (vitamin C, vitamin E, wild blueberries, 100% pomegranate juice, etc). If you follow these 4 action steps and, for example, your LDL levels happen to increase, keep pressing forward, because there is not a single lipoprotein in its native form that will render plaque formation, irrespective of the amount in circulation.

They won't be happy until every man, woman and child are on lifelong statins and BP meds, so they keep lowering the numbers and redefining "normal".

The problem with fish oil supplements is the very short shelf like of those omega 3 rich polyunsaturated oils. When freshly produced they're good. But in only a couple of weeks they've already gone rancid (oxidised). That's the problem. Better solution is to eat the fresh fish they came from. That gets around the oxidation problem. Downside is it's more expensive.
