The Ridgeline is the best mid-sized pickup available period. No, you do not need a body on frame mid-sized truck. 1% of all mid-sized truck owners take the vehicle off road so why live with the terrible ride unless your ego needs that. What other mid-sized truck can carry 4x8 sheets of drywall in the bed? None. What other mid-sized truck has a trunk? None. What other mid-sized truck has a naturally aspirated V6? None. What other mid-sized truck has lane keep assist, emergency autonomous braking, etc. as standard feature? None. What mid-sized truck can carry 5 people 'comfortably' while being able for flip the seat up to create a huge storage area? None. It's interesting how people justify 5/4 scale trucks and body-on-frame mid-sized trucks by what others might think about them.
Very valid points! It certainly doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I really think it’s design it what triggers people to say otherwise. Thank you for watching!
I have a 2018. Absolutely love it. But I think if Honda would offer a compact pickup - 2 door, no CVT, maybe Camry inspired could be a sales monster. $20,000 - $25,000.
One more thing. The new Ridgeline colors are mostly awful. 😝 Brighten it up .
As much as I want to hate it I kind of like the ridgeline. The last naturally aspirated v6 instead of a 4 cylinder turbo. Plus it’s a Honda. It’s will go forever like the older Toyotas.
Agreed! There’s a lot here to like. Just visually unconventional. Thank you for watching!
Best way to describe the RidgeLine, Truck-enough, it delivers to the all-purpose target group. Those wanting serious off road or serious tow, should focus on vehicles that deliver that offering.
Exactly! It suites its purpose very well. Thank you for watching!
I drove one and was sold on it. They are comfortable and practical.
I’m hoping to drive one of them soon because I really want to know how they drive. Thank you for watching!
I tow a small camper (2,900 lbs). The RL offers plenty of tow capacity for my needs. The RL actually offers more real world payload than other midsize trucks. I will purchase a shell to secure camping gear, so I want about 1500 lbs of payload. I also value reliability, safety, etc. I think the rear seat area is roomy for the class and functional with the 60/40 flip up seats. In addition, the multifunction tail gate and in bed trunk are unique. I also prefer the RL’s AWD system to part-time 4WD systems. I am not a major off-roader and so the RL’s AWD system will more than handle forest services roads while camping. The downsides for me with the RL. Exterior - attractive, but a bit pedestrian. Interior - attractive, but a bit dated. LOL. It is not a as badass as the Tacoma TRD OR, or the Frontier Pro4X, or the Colorado Trailboss, or the Ranger FX4, or the Jeep Gladiator. If I end up buying an RL at the end of 2024, it will probably be the TrailSport trim. BTW, great video. Informative!
I love when people comment real world experiences, appreciate you sharing! I think if Honda ramped up styling then the vehicle as a whole would get far more respect. But hey, they sell a ton and they get the job done. Haters gonna hate. Thank you for the compliment and for watching!
I had one of the first Ridgeline's made. Ran beautifully for 150K miles. Traded it in for a Frontier. It's not half the truck the Ridgeline was. I will be buying a new Ridgeline in the spring.
Sure seems like a great ride. Thank you for watching!
I just bought a base model... a sport trim model... beautiful red... rides like a Cadillac not a truck.. I don't care what people call it I love it
That’s awesome, congrats! Thank you for watching!
I am wondering if TrailSport Tune off suspension rides even better on road then other trim Ridgeline?
@@MyJeffrey1970 I’d absolutely think it would. I had an off road suspension for my Bison and it was very smooth on road.
@@Benscarreviews great! Trying to decide on 2024 TrailSport or 2024 Black Edition . BE has front ventilated seats and rear heated seats & upgraded stereo for about $1,350 more then TrailSport.
TrailSport has updated suspension and flat black interior trim inside instead of that shiny gloss black trim inside of BE.
I might go for TrailSport.
FYI putting 1.5 jsport
Leveling kit and 265 Michelin tires on either one I buy at dealership. Will get rid of off-road tires from TrailSport.
@@MyJeffrey1970 tough decision! With the prices being that close I would absolutely buy the one your heart is with more. What will you look back on years from now and wish you purchased. You only live once!
Hope I can get mine this year! Great video by the way :)
I appreciate you! Thank you for watching!
The wheel bearings, ball joints , knuckles etc are 18% heavier than the minivan.
Thanks for adding that in and thank you for watching!
The 2024 Ridgeline is not currently on sale. There’s a recall already on the new Honda trucks. Apparently they have an electrical problem with a rear wiring harness. Just found out yesterday.
That’s unfortunate. Thank you for watching!
You said under powered for you but truck king tow test showing it beating the more powerful 310hp Frontier!
Cheers
Good point! I think this rig is plenty capable. Thank you for watching!
Will be my next vehicle. Everyone one i know that owns one loves it. Will also be my 1st "truck" ever. Any thoughts on the VCM? I hear it has issues at 100k.
I’ve heard nothing but great things all around. I hope you can get one! Thank you for watching!
Lower power means more longevity
👍
I hate it when companies reserve the best looking grills for the higher trim level making the rest of their lineup look like trash tarnishes the name
It’s disappointing! Thank you for watching!
