What if the expanded College Football Playoff sees more blowouts as teams like UGA, Texas, Alabama, and Ohio State continue dominating? What if Georgia Tech is actually the ACC's biggest sleeper? Could we see FSU, Florida, and Miami get things rolling in the Sunshine State? I’m not concerned about blowouts, which won’t happen as much because teams won’t have a whole month to prep, but we FINALLY have opportunities for upsets and different Final 4 teams every year!
    Just look at last year, imagine an Alabama knocked out Georgia to take the SEC, but they play again in the 2nd or 3rd round with UGA getting the win to face off against Michigan…unless it was a Texas team that could stop that vaunted rushing attack and knock the Wolverines out earlier…or a Florida State (they had 10 other guys on that undefeated team) and Oregon get in cause some damage to set up all new scenarios!!

Kentucky gets Vandy, FSU get Charlestons Southern, TAMU get McNeese St. Miss St get Toledo. That’s means 7 of the schools will absolutely be fresh and healed before facing Florida. The extremity of this schedule begs the question of parity in scheduling in Birmingham, and the SEC should have to speak to it.

      It has improved every year during his tenure. You should know how important it is to build relationships with high school coaches around the state. Mike came in with barely any of those relationships nor his staff so yes it has taken a while to build those relationships and have those high school coaches trust our recruiters to do the right thing for their athletes.
      That is the way it has been in the state of Florida for decades.
      But his pure genius in the transfer portal has brought Florida State wins very quickly. Opportunities that Mario and Billy had that they did not either capitalize on or could not develop those players into their systems.
      As of right now our composite average in star rating is 6 on 247 and and 10th with On3. It was higher than that but we just signed a three-star linebacker to fill a need. Basically because Randy Shannon can't recruit his position. I would definitely agree we are lacking in that position but that's the only one. Plus our linebacker corp will be just fine this season.

    FSU will have one of the best defenses in the country. I think FSU offense will be very bland. The offensive line should be a strong unit that will allow us to lean on the run game. I think the passing game will take time to blossom. With our schedule that should not be a major concern. Towards the end of the year one or two of our freshman will start to show true signs of being a superstar. This is a critical year for us to create more appeal for high school recruiting. This year Norvell and staff have showed that they are going to recruit strictly blue chip players and save the remaining scholarships for the portal. I like the thought process but we have to be able to get more players from the high school ranks.

    Both Miami and Florida are down for the foreseeable future. Both UF and UM have a built in loss to the season over the next few years. With talent spreading out a little more (you aren't going to see Superteams like AL/Clemson in the mid-late 2010s anymore getting 8 5-stars per class), an expanded playoff makes sense. It either has to be 2-team style like the BCS or 12+ teams, a 4 team playoff was just the worst of both worlds.

  • @saldiven2009
    @saldiven2009 16 дней назад +2

    I'll restate "what if" number one in shorter format: "What if every team in Florida is way better than everyone expects?"
    Honestly, "what if" scenarios that are extremely unlikely just aren't interesting to me. Josh always says to not to offer up parlays on his boldest bet segments, but this "what if" is a huge (and unlikely) parlay.

    • @jamesb0255
      @jamesb0255 16 дней назад +1

      Extremely unlikely? Obviously you were not around in the '80s and early '90s.
      Josh is absolutely correct in saying that the top teams, who seem to be the same every year so you know who they are Josh mentioned them, consistently recruit in the state of Florida.
      Plus, I say in a whisper it's the off season. He is paid to talk about scenarios and possibilities of the upcoming season and beyond.
      So honestly dude if you don't like it get your college football news from somewhere else. You do have that right you know.

    • @saldiven2009
      @saldiven2009 16 дней назад +1

      @@jamesb0255 LoL. Obviously you've missed that the 80's and 90's were 25+ years ago (and the fact that Florida sucked for its entire existence until 1991). CFB changes. Dynasties come and go. Just because the Florida teams were really strong back then doesn't mean that they'll ever all be really strong at the same time again, and CFB isn't any worse if they aren't.
      The extremely unlikely "what if" scenario is 4+ teams in Florida all hitting the over on their wins total in 2024. Then spinning that off into this long-term change where _all_ of the Florida teams suddenly manage to out-recruit the 50+ programs recruiting the state. The modern CFB recruiting world is so far removed to what it was like prior to the social media era that it's just silly to try to compare the two.
      And, I do get my CFB news from somewhere else; lots of somewhere else.
      I do _NOT_ come to Josh Pate for CFB news. This is a commentary channel. Some of his commentary is entertaining; some of it is eye rolling (like his apparent belief that everything would be better if the teams that were strong when he was a kid were strong now, too).
      I just think it would be far more interesting if he discussed "what if" scenarios that have a reasonable chance of occurring.
      For example, I'm a UGA fan: What if UGA goes 8-4 this season (there are easily four games they could lose this season, though they could just as likely win all four of them). This is a more likely occurrence than the entire state of Florida hitting the over in 2024.
