You do realize that there are more books in the series right? For some odd reason Rodrick Rules and The Last Straw (books two and three] were bundled up into a singular movie (The second movie in the movie franchise, taking its name after the second book.) And so, with the first three books being showcased into two movies, the third movie had to be an adaptation of the fourth book, and possibly do the fifth with it like how the second movie did with Rodrick Rules and The Last Straw. But, it ended up being only the fourth book, (called Dog Days) so yeah. But for some odd reason, for the fourth movie (which shouldnt even be a thing considering its bad characters and how they handled the movie) they decided to skip a some of the books.

Back in middle school, me and a bunch of friends read Diary of a wimpy kid and decided to re-create a real life version of the cheese touch by leaving some cheese on the pavement at school. It was funny because some kids took it seriously, but then then at one point the supervisors at school figured out what was going on and removed it. It turned into a vicious cycle of students replacing and supervisors removing cheese from the pavement.

Fun fact: when I was a kid the other kids used the cheese touch as an excuse to stay away from me. Apparently I was the only one who could have it, because they all made sure I had it. Kinda sucked as a plan though, I only realized it was a thing NOW, since it really didn't change anything. Now I'm learning it actually originated here, in this book series.
Yeah, I stopped being a fan of it awhile back, this is honestly how I remember it, except the dad was more of a fun killer I think. This had more humor though.
