Nothing more relaxing than watching rolling dirt off a blade and the smell of diesel fumes mixed with freshly turned earth. Love your work Mate. Bless ya.
Those townships are sure blessed to have you maintaining roads for safe travel! You do an awesome job my friend! 👍
I use a 672gp and use the grade control when i am on my final camber of 4% on forestry roads, otherwise i run mine in manual all the time. Good videos 👍
Nice to see you giving the cross slope system an honest go, so many GP’s running around our territory and none of the guys use it because the dealer never took the time to teach them how to use it. That’s one thing we do different here at the Cat dealer, when we deliver a machine it’s my job to make sure the operators are familiar with all the features. One of the biggest misconceptions in my opinion regarding a cross slope system is that sales guys sell it as an immediate fix all for the bad roads, which is so far from the truth. It takes time and many passes to correct a road with poor cross slope. I do have a couple municipalities that I deal with however who have adopted the system fully and they put it on every grader, and you can noticeably tell the difference in qualify on their roads. Just another tool in the toolbox. Glad to see your videos back man!
Thanks for watching and I wish my cat dealer would of took the time to show me the cross slope on my M3 I used RUclips and figured it out myself same thing with the Deere cross slope and I 100% agree lot of salesman really pushed the grade control to fix things but there way more to it then just flipping the switch and it fixes it takes a lot of time to get it fixed from what I’ve found with my test is it does a nice job definitely help an inexperienced operator but for myself I tend to like to use the bubble in my ass and the slope meter but like you said it’s another tool in the toolbox.
@@graderman140m when I’m going over it I always recommend keeping a log book with notes keeping track of how much change they put into the road to get it back to proper, that way they have something to reference the next time they come back to it and can continue the change from there. 100% is a multiple time deal to fully reshape a bad one. I take a lot of pride in what I do, and I likely go into way more depth then lots of guys, but that is what crests positive dealer experience. I live and breath Cat and earthmoving. I was actually running a new 140 all last week for a municipality here to get some more seat time before my next batch of testing with Cat. I was very pleasantly surprised how the new 140 performs, especially in hard cutting.
Glad to see you made it back with a video. I'm behind as well, but will be posting a new video in the next couple days. I actually found myself a few grader projects so I did a little video for one of them. You content is very informative for me, so keep it up!
Yes I’m happy to be back I think I got all my camera trouble figured out and that’s awesome look forward to seeing your videos also happy to hear that the channel has been informative for you thanks for watching.
I sure enjoy your videos thank you!!!
Happy to hear that thanks for watching.
Hey buddy good to see you out there working, looks a little bit dry but got to do what you Gotta do. :-)
It’s been very dry here had very little moisture to work with and got to stay on roads regardless so it definitely is what it is thanks for watching!
This is great ! Thank you for posting.
Happy to hear that thanks for watching!
Loving that rural SD action
Hey excellent videos. I run a 1993 cat 12g with mold board extension . Do you like your extension on left or right mines on right . I blade 27 miles of road here in Missouri for a township . I love running a blade when I first started out 10 years ago I caught on pretty fast an old timer told me but I’m still learn . I use some of your tips and advice on some of my roads . Thanks for videos I’ve looked all over RUclips for grading dirt roads and your the only one I’ve found very informative.
I prefer my extension on the left hand side because you can reach further to the right without the extension so having it on the left gives you equal reach right or left and I’m glad to hear you’ve gotten a few tips from my channel thanks for watching!
What township do u work for Ronald??? And wht part of Missouri?? I work for DuckCreek township in southeast Missouri!!!!

I am a 65 yr old newbie to a blade and have watched i think all of your videos. they have helped me a lot. We have a JD 670b 1995 model, finding a lot of parts are discontinued or obsolete. looking to maybe replace it only has 2200 hrs and like new but junk yard parts with week wait is not cool. i don't have a lot of gravel roads but the ones i do have are in bad need of ditch and road bed work. if you where replacing what would you get? Also style of control's? I am fairly used to this one and i see JD has two options the rack or joy sticks. PS i am not great at video games LOL. Thanks for making these and please keep up the good content!!!!!!!
Welcome too the channel and thanks for watching I would recommend you going with a 672G with the lever style controls if your going to replace the machine you currently have that way you don’t have to learn a new control setup and you will be more comfortable in the machine if you have any more questions ask away.
I see a lot that put the windrow in the middle and straight blade, tell me about that also any snow tips on blades
Yeah I unfortunately see guys who put windrow in the middle and straight blade it and that’s definitely not the correct way to maintain a gravel road I pull windrow off shoulder to the center line then from center line to existing shoulder also in winter time thing I see that most operators do wrong is drag the wing in the ditch that doesn’t do any good at all thanks for watching will have couple new videos coming in a couple days here.
How many years of experience do you have?
I’ve got 16 years of experience of operating a blade.
How do you cut that hard without undercutting the shoulders ?
I run carbide cutting edges that are an inch thick and they stay straight all the time once you have your crown built in like the peak of a roof two straight lines you won’t be undercutting the shoulder thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
Are you still gonna up load that video for me ?
Yes video will be up at 5 tonight.
@@graderman140mokay thank you
