Wow. I'm impressed and disappointed at the same time! Impressed at the improvement (and frankly jealous)...and disappointed in what I have to look forward to in my truck on a 200k mile 360... Awesome improvement and hopefully it will enable you guys to do a lot more outdoor stuff!
Yeah it’s def a big improvement. The 360 may not be the quickest but it’s a dang good engine. We never had any issues, just couldn’t keep up long distances.
Yeah the 360ci in my AMC is only rated at 144hp and was only rated to get 11mpg, when it was brand new....😂lol! My parents bought it as a winter beater but after about a month they parked it because of the gas mileage issue. Yes it definitely was an "issue"...
Cool, the difference a transmission makes, My 360 was healthy at 17-18 seconds to 60 MPH (empty, stock everything, that's probably the difference with yours being loaded, having taller tires etc) and my hemi swap with 3.31 axles and zf 8hp70 just did 5.8 seconds today. I need to find a good deserted spot somewhere and make a video of a good 1/4 mile pull.
Yeah 3.54 gears, 32” tires, winch, camping gear in the back, etc doesn’t help with a 0-60 time. But it’s plenty for what we’re doing. It’ll run 70 with ease at 1800rpm so we’re def happy about that!
Wow, I thought 19 would have been realistic with the 3.54s.... 😐 I think that was the actual test data results with stock tires and 2.72s. I do know that the 727 tends to shift too early and 3rd is a LOOOONG gear. That's why I set up my TV cable on mine to hit 3rd at 45. It greatly improved acceleration because it holds each gear longer and causes the next gear to start above 1500rpms. With electronic transmissions, they do a better job of holding a gear longer under harder acceleration. Mine is much improved with the baby LS even with the 727 still there, but the best part is flooring it doesn't require what Pooh would call "A small smackeral" of gas, drastically changing my between tank economy numbers. Even with spirited driving, I'm hard pressed to get it to drop below 15mpg. I did get the Hemi 0-60 number correct, though! 🙃
Haha yeah you did you nailed it!. Yeah I saw for 89 GW they said estimated 14 sec 0-60, but didn’t specify gear ratio. Back in the muscle car era they 727 was set up to hold the gears longer. Jay Leno has a video of his 66 or 67 Hemi Belvedere and said he thought the trans was messed up because it wouldn’t shift till high in the rpm’s 😂

Look at that Hemi pull!
Yessir!!!
I was thinking around 15 sec. That's pretty big increase in the time with that different motor.
Yeah I’m not as worried about getting run over by traffic anymore haha
I would have thought it would be quicker. I have a little 4.8 in mine and does 60 in 9 seconds. I also have 3.73 and stock size tires.
