THANK YOU!!! I just got to this section of the game, and I immediately recognized the Phil Collins drumming pattern. I couldn't stop laughing afterward, because it was so unexpected. You know what is even weirder? The flying monsters in the sections where this music plays (the ones that throw things) start laughing. Not just any laugh, either. I think that's another Phil Collins reference to the "HAHAHA" sections of the Genesis song "Mama."
David Wise clearly took a lot of inspiration from Phil Collins in many of DKC's tracks, and this track is the most obvious with it borrowing heavy elements from "In The Air Tonight". But you can tell throughout many of the tracks that David Wise really understands Phil Collins' ear for percussion and melody.
that beginning percussion of this song is definitely a dead give away. I was just listening to In the Air Tonight recently and thinking to myself "David must have been inspired by this song for Bayou Boogie"

As someone who grew up deep in south Louisiana, i can confirm this song is exactly what it feels like to sit on the side of the bayou smoking a joint at 1am
SNES version or GBA version? You're lucky if you only played the SNES version. The GBA version has an annoying ghostly wail instead. But at least they gave him a cool laugh when he dies!
0:34 I love how the melody morphs into a beautiful one for just this part. As if the world is grotesque and sketchy but it has its own unique aesthetic to it.
Volcanoes bring in freshly formed, nutrient-rich ground from the molten interior of the Earth. That on top of the already hot and humid wetland climate of the isle is the perfect recipe for biodiversity to boom as soon as you go lowland.
My friend and I commented on this a long time ago, we both agree the DK games really have impressive music, far better than the Mario games on SNES. I still have all my SNES games and the system since New Year's 1994! Still works like it did from day one.
bro Mario's compositions cannot even come close to DKC's compositions. David Wise was a genius. He understood how to use sounds in ways we could never even imagine. And I'm not talking about how people use sampled sounds these days, they literally just drag and drop, David had only 64kb to work with. I'd like to see some modern day "composers" write a song using only 64kb. Literally takes no skill. Anyway, before I start ranting, these tracks are so magical. David Wise truly is a blessing to our world, the Bob Ross of the SNES soundchip.
Eric Jordan I have noticed that the Super Mario soundtracks beyond the SNES have been very noticeable about the evolution of their music, as evidenced by the Super Mario Galaxy Games, come on, that the merit of Donkey Kong Country earned is not taken away from anyone. I admire many composers, besides David Wise.
Look, even the top comment is making a "In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins" joke! Please don't make a drinking game out of this. Not if you want to live.
Diddy and Dixie can feel it coming in the air tonight
First comment I saw matches the first thought I had
I've always thought this lmao. I'm glad someone else recognizes it.

Oh lord
Someone should do a remix of bayou boogie combined with coming in the air tonight.
Hot Head Bop, Forest Interlude, Stickerbrush Symphony, Mining Melancholy, and Bayou Boogie are my favorite songs in DKC2.
Coincidentally, they are my favorites too, partner!
I also like Welcome to Crocodile Isle.
Lol bro, mine as well. Best tracks of the game...hell, one of the best gaming songs of all time.
Gotta agree bruh, especially with me including Disco Train!
i think we're all the same type of person, even tough we're from different parts of the world! These are just my favorite songs too!
The best of this song is we can even sleep listening to it

A shame there’s no nighttime bayou levels. Would’ve been a perfect match.
What other examples of DKC tracks remind you of Phil Collins?
I mean with phil being one of the most famous drummers of all time, it makes sense, his ost for tarzan and his work with genesis go absolutely hard
Phil Collins: BUT I WANNA KNOW CAN YOU SHOW ME!?
This song was playing in my head the whole time driving through louisiana
15 year gap between this song and In the Air Tonight
One of the levels using this music is THE REASON I always look behind me first in most side scrolling games 😂
The adventure is starting to heat up... world 3... the song perfectly captures that... wow...
0:55 the boss theme from DK country.
Kloak: "HaHaHa!!!"

I could probably listen to this for the rest of my life and my bones would still be jammin to this masterpiece in my grave
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh, Lord
I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life.
Not to be confused with the Song by Phil Collins.
@@markheying2830 my favorite song, "the Song" by Phil Collins.

Junto com Mario World na minha opinião são os 2 melhores jogos de todos os tempos!
How did I only now realize this references DKC’s “Bad Boss Boogie” at 0:55
no you don't. I thought that too
@@guest19901990 I said "only now", not "only I". Rhetorically asking how it took me so long.
This song is so underrated it's a crime to not know its greatness.
Underrated? This kicks bramble blast's ass any day( hate it btw) this is the best dkc2 song for me and it always will be

Now I hear it 😂😂
This song should have been in Smash Ultimate.
Too relaxing for SSBU
@@DavidKingNT they could remix it to make it sound faster and add more instruments, but that makes sense
Bruh every song in dkc2 deserves to be in the game
@@DavidKingNT
"Snowman" and "The Roost" are also too relaxing, but they're both in Smash Ultimate.
DavidKingNT might I remind you of “environmental noises”
Such a bop man, I love this song
Its been 27 years and my entire life has gone by I get emotional and cry when hearing this music.

Nostalgic and perfect song for remember the infance
I never got to this level, but I love this track so much

This whole OST is an electronica masterpiece.

How this island both has a lava land and a bayou this close, I'll never know.
Well on tropical islands volcanoes are right in the middle of jungles, it's not *too* crazy
