Swamp music from DK2 in pristine studio quality. This was made possible by locating the sounds from workstation keyboards and drum machines such as the Korg Wavestation, Roland S770, and Roland R8, and plugging them into the music instruction data ripped from the game, plus a little mixing magic to create might have sounded like with the veil of 16bit compression lifted. Part of a project to restore the entire DKC series soundtrack

It really does. You can't really hear that sexy jazz guitar and sawtooth in the original.
@@oddMLan probably because sound effects cutting out the sound channels or you didn’t have the audio set to Stereo (its Mono by default)
I mean those samples are quiet though

Figures that only David Wise could make a hazardous swamp actually sound like a place worth cozily relaxing in.
Everyone knows the connection with that Phil Collins song, but I also hear Enigma's Callas Went Away.
This brings back so much, I used to watch my dad play Dkc2 a lot and now things are different, my parents don't live together anymore, I live with my mom, her bf, and my sibling while my dad is far away in another state 😭 and just listening to video game music brings tears to my eyes because of all my memories and now I'm playing through the games I used to watch my dad play, it's just sad to think about how much things have changed
When I'm an adult and if I have kids I'll make sure they know the classics, no matter what. Precious memories, i'm crying so much right now and I can't stop
This song gives me a "goosebumps level" of nostalgia. I'm not sure I could describe what I'm feeling right now.
DK 1, 2, and 3 have some of the best soundtracks of any game ever created. And this just adds to that. Fantastic.
i remember one of the levels w/ this music just as soon as u start, go to the left instead of the right and u have to jump over bees to get a DK coin.
So simple but really great vibes so it's hard to get bored of this, thanks for making this for us! I bet someone could rap to this, slightly modified, maybe playerd on piano instead or something

I love this song, it has great atmosphere and definitely makes blighttown more interesting to traverse with this playing
I listen to this particular song more than any other in the playlist and i really cant understand why. It isnt my favorite song from the game, and before hearing this version i always thought of it as one of the more just "really good" songs from the game, not like, top 5 or anything. Something about hearing this rendition on loop for awhile is just really soothing i suppose.
Just the way Phil Collins intended.

Alright, I think I've pinned down what emotion this song is conveying, it's wariness, the song sounds unfamiliar and hostile, to the kongs, the swamp is the uncanny valley version of the jungle, similar, but profoundly off, that's why there's only a bit of flute. The animal sounds are jarring and hostile, as apposed to the jungle, where things seem to work in harmony, and with so many new instruments, it really feels like stepping on to an alien world, and it's not a pretty one.
Man the nostalgia I just replayed this game around january and it looks like Im gonna have to do it again

Sounds great, this is a strong effort. One thing to note is that according to David Wise there was never any higher quality samples, since the music was made specifically for the SNES hardware. So this isn't really a "restoration", more of a recreation.
