    I have found that nail polish thinner will turn almost every regular polish into a quick-drying polish. Not quite instant, but, easily within 5 minutes. I use the ordinary cheap 4 oz bottle (costs $4) and have tried with all the economical brands, it works great. That, together with this gelly sandwich method, lets me make a nice gel mani using regular polishes in a very quick time.

    • @CreateYourSpace_.
      @CreateYourSpace_.  2 года назад +6

      Oh interesting! Could you give me more info on this? What type of nail polish thinner do you use? Also are you talking about the ordinary dropper bottles. Do you use this to place a drop of thinner on each nail after painting it?

    • @JanetJayeCrochet
      @JanetJayeCrochet 2 года назад +6

      Drops go into the regular nail polish. It fixes goopy and old polish. I use it all the time. It basically replaces the stuff that evaporates over time. Go little by little though, then gently shake.

    I love watching your tutorials videos. They are quick and straight to the point. I just got into gel nails and I refer to your previous video a lot for guidance. However, I was told that u couldn't use regular nail polish with gel so I threw several of my regular polish away. Then I saw this video. Thank u thank u thank u, for this video. It didn't make sense to me ppl cause I would see ppl at salons do this all the time with regular polish and uv/led lights.

    • @CreateYourSpace_.
      @CreateYourSpace_.  2 года назад +4

      Your welcome, I’m glad this helps! I don’t believe this is a common practice at salons however because you do need to wait for regular polish to fully dry before applying a top coat of gel (I recommend atleast 12 hours) but yes you can use regular polish with gel as the base and top coat.

  • @Clipzy38

    There’s also a product called hydrocol that you can mix with any polish to turn it into gel. It’s a bit messy though because you have to mix it in a separate dish and use a gel brush or clean brush to apply it. But it does work. I actually like this idea better because all you’d need to do is let it dry fully. But hydrocol does work.

    I’m so happy, I found this video! I was thinking of just doing a clear, basecoat and topcoat and curing it and then using regular polish on top with a regular clear, anti-chip topcoat.
    This way, I can change out the color when I get bored with it (and I get bored with it easily). I also have a lot of trouble taking cured gel polish off without ruining my nails because of over-filing - it’s just so hard for me to get it all off (even with the remover that ‘cracks’ the gel color).
    I also thought this would be a way to have clear, cured gel nails to protect my natural nails (while they grow out after having acrylic nails removed) and let me change out the color with regular polish on top every week, if I feel like it.
    I hope this makes sense. What do you think?

    • @CreateYourSpace_.
      @CreateYourSpace_.  Год назад +1

      So glad it was helpful! Yes you can totally do this! You will notice a slight dip as the clear gel polish grows out but you can fill it and keep going with your colors. I never file my gel off I only use acetone to make sure I don’t damage my nails. I recommend you do the same :)

    You can also do a regular polish manicure, and then use the gel top coat for chrome powder. I polish one day like I normally would, with regular top/base coat. The next day, I apply a no wipe gel top coat, cure for 30 seconds, apply the chrome powder, brush off any excess, apply a second layer of gel top coat, then cure for 90 seconds and its all done. It may seem like waiting until the second day is annoying, but the reality is that the gel cures so quickly that it only takes a few minutes to apply.

    • @CreateYourSpace_.
      @CreateYourSpace_.  Год назад

      Those usually only dry the top layer and don’t allow the nail polish underneath to harden. If you put gel on top with out that layer under hardening, your polish will likely wrinkle or peel off. You could give it a try but I don’t think it will work. Good luck!

    • @CreateYourSpace_.
      @CreateYourSpace_.  3 года назад +6

      Good question! I have never personally tried it however I think quick dry top coat only helps the top layer dry however the layers underneath are still soft/wet for a little while. I am not sure 100% but I think the layers below being wet might still cause the gel top coat to wrinkle eventually (within a few hours). If you end up trying this out let me know how it goes!

How many hours should i wait for my regular nail polish to dry before applying gel top coat? What causes chip or crack in nail? Sorry I asked so many question but you are tge only person should answer me I trust you

    • @CreateYourSpace_.
      @CreateYourSpace_.  3 года назад +3

      Hi! If you apply your nail polish in that order as a gelly sandwich, it should last atleast 10-12 days ( that’s how long it lasts for me and sometimes longer). If you cannot wait until the next day to paint your top coat then you should wait atleast 4-5 hours for your polish to fully dry. It’s better to paint thin coats so it dries in between quicker. Usually chips or cracks are from the polish not being sealed properly around the edges and lifting happens from not prepping the nail properly before applying the base coat. Hope this helps!

Then when you are done the regular polish and the GEL top coat the very last step again is to wipe the tacky layer on your top coat with the same thing. Hope this makes sense. Hi there,! I have just found your videos. I have just used Amaili (spelling) gel polish (5 coats to get coverage). I know it isn’t a high quality line but 5 coats is a lot and looks very thick on the nail. I wonder if you know of an equivalent product that provides better coverage.

      Did you use 5 coats of just the colored gel polish alone? Or are the 5 coats including your base coat and top coat? Also depends on the color you bought, if it was meant to be a sheer color then it will take a lot to build up a solid look. Normally 2 coats of the colored polish is enough. Yes, you could but the base coat is there for a few reasons. Firstly it gives your nails a thicker more salon quality looking manicure. Secondly a gel base coat adheres your nails in a different way than regular polish which gives you manicure that longevity that you get from only gel manicure. If you skip the base coat I highly doubt your manicure will last as long cause it will likely peel off. Hope this helps!
