This works! I saw this video and realized that water was causing my nails to peel and they looked terrible. I started applying oil to my nails several times throughout the day, especially after water exposure, and started wearing gloves at work to keep my hands clean and not need to wash as often. I was shocked to see my hands and nails looking better immediately. Within a couple days I could see real improvement. My nails no longer peel and break. It has been about 2 months. Thank you so much for your research, information, and suggestions!

My nails were similar to the first picture and I was despairing that they would never be better. Since watching this video I have:
*stopped all hardeners and nail polishes
*been using various oils and urea cream on my nails
    *doing warm oil soaks
    *regularly filing
and they are so much better already after about 3 weeks.

This could be my story with peeling nails ! I’ve gone through the same steps as your writer in trying to salvage my nails ,now I hope that by stopping buffing down the peeling portion of my nails I’ll have filled in the final piece to this nail puzzle. I’ve also just put my jojoba oil next to my kitchen sink as a reminder to apply after getting my hands wet. I believe the magic portion to healthy nails is patience which is something I’m sorely lacking . I hope that in a months time I can report back with my own positive results. Hi Anna - I have had the same experience. My nails were peeling, brittle. I started pushing back my cuticles and using cuticle oil several times a day (I had covid so it was something to do while I recovered. I also threw out all my nail polish and replaced it with Dazzle Dry (my manicurist has been using it for several years now). I cannot describe the difference. First, I no longer have super dry skin around my nails to pick at. My proximal fold is totally normal. Massive reduction in hang nails. And best of all, my nails are long and lovely. In fact, as I am typing this, I think I will have to file them down a bit so I can type!!! I don’t have before and after photos but take my word for it. An amazing result. So here is a quick summary of what to do and not to do for those who are a little bit lazy :))
    DON'T!!
-Do your own shellac and/or dip nails
    -Buff off the nail peelings
-Keeping nails as short as possible (keep your natural nails short, but not down-to-the-skin short!)
-Constantly apply new coats of protectant or polish. (It can actually be better to not wear any polish at all!)
-Use a bunch of different supplm. or topicals too often (look at the ingredients and know what to look for and what to avoid! P.S, same with skin and haircare as well :)) )
    DO! :))
-Wear gloves when doing jobs like washing dishes or sanding wood that could lead to water damage or simply break your nails.)
-Use supplm. (supplements) that actually have ingredients proven to support nails/hair!
-Use oils/serums that have been clinically proven to support nail growth or strength.
    Habits to stop:
Stop buffing/removing peels! it doesn't help anything, and in fact can become the source of the problem!
Stop wearing nail polish year-round on natural (or even gels/acrylics) nails. Nail polish should be ministered as a monthly/yearly treat, not a apply-it-whenever-it-chips thing.
Stop using strengthened and hardeners unless you know for a fact that you have soft/bendy nails, because if you do not it can be bad for nails.
Stop keeping your nails super short! Try to grow them out! Don't let them get super long, but maybe half of an average pinky finger at most.
USE JOJOBA OIL AND OTHER NAIL-HELPING NATURAL OILS ON YOUR NAILS RIGOROUSLY! (Use nail oil and hot oil soaks.)
File nails, try not to use cutters unless you use them on hangnails.
File nails in a back-and-forth motion, not in one direction.
    LOVE YALL BYEE!!!

What an incredible story and testament to the validity of your teachings, Anna! Thank you to this young lady for sharing her story. I feel like so very many of us can see similarities in the issues she experienced. My battered nails have fully recovered from a decade of acrylics, except for 3 issues: peeling on both of my pointer fingers, which makes them weak and break, stretched skin stuck to my left thumb for which I have to religiously use Kerasal, otherwise it wants to stick to my nail right away if I skip a few days or so, and lastly, ridgy nails….which I attribute to aging. Otherwise, my nails look pretty flippin’ healthy and nourished, all because of you, Anna ❤❤❤

This is really encouraging and proof that with loads of TLC you can bring badly damaged nails back to life! I've been applying gel polish to my nails now for over 6 years. I applied full cover gelly tips to my nails back in May/June of this year, they looked lovely, but when I came to remove them after 3 weeks wear, the removal process left my nails in an awful state. My left thumbnail had a vertical split in it right down at the cuticle - I thought my nails would never be the same again! So I decided they would need loads of TLC, I made my own cuticle oil with - guess what - jojoba oil, vitamin E oil and a few drops of rose essential oil - it smells gorgeous. As well as the cuticle oil I also apply BP grade castor oil daily, it strengthens the nails and helps them to grow quickly - I use one of the refillable cuticle oil pens. I keep them short just by filing - not cutting. They are looking really good now and the strongest I've ever known them to be and the vertical split is virtually gone, it's grown right out to the tip of my nail now so a couple more weeks of care and it'll be gone.
So many people have left comments saying this RUclips video could be talking about their own nails - myself included - so thank you for sharing this with us.

I use the CND oil at night and I use the marvala a few times a week. I take biotin and collagen. So, as you can see I’ve tried a lot. Some improvement but very little. I don’t paint them because I use all of these things to help them grow.

Jojoba oil is a type of plant oil used as a moisturizer. 100% jojoba oil can be found at Target, Trader Joe’s, drugstores, or online shops like iHerb. Dessert Essence is one brand but there are many other brands too. I have found applying a tiny bit of oil to my nails a few times a day to be helpful. (Once in the morning & again in the evening. Sometimes 3 times a day if I remember.)

Biotin supplements have to be used with caution. In 2017 FDA put out a warning that biotin supplements can falsely lower troponin levels which are used to diagnose a heart attack.

Wow!!!! Thank you for sharing this story/case. It is truly encouraging. I am in the process of restoring my nails after removing gel manicure of bad quality. Though my nails were affected minimally, I do notice they suffered as a consequence of the gel removal.
I will oil, not buff, moisturize skin all around, and oil some more until they are all restored.
    Great video! :)

Thank you for sharing her nail journey. Proper care does make a difference. I buffed my nails for the first time for a party and was going to continue with the regimen until I stumbled upon this video. Throwing buffer away! I feel that I have healthy nails. My nails are strong but I can’t seem to grow them to her length because of the grime beneath the nails similar to hers 6 months ago. I’m constantly scraping to keep them clean. i wear gloves when gardening but not when rinsing dishes (hoping that will clean the nails). I gave up and have kept my nails short. I can’t be the only one to have this problem but I don’t know what to do. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated ❤

My nails looked exactly the same for years and I was doing the same mistakes - lots of 'nail hardeners and various treatments, always having them painted (the nail polish was constantly falling off so I painted them few times a week....), cutting them short, filing the peeling parts... A year ago I decided they look so terrible it can't get any worse and for the first time painted them with gel nail polish (which I had been using on my toes for a long time so I had all the equipment) and used a lot of jojoba oil around them after doing so. It lasted few days so more than any 'normal' nail polish could, I did it again and again until all the peeling parts FINALLY grew out completly. After a year I have natural 2cm nails - longer than I ever had in my life. I don't use any 'treatments' which only made things worse, I paint them with gel nail polish only and remove it carefully, still usings oils around them. I know I would probably achieve the same result faster if I didn't use any kind of nails polish for some time, but I really like having the painted ;)

I love this story, these beautiful nails are my goal! For the last month I have been using jojoba oil after every hand wash , Kerasal cream once a day and no nail polish. Warm oil treatment once a week and I also treated myself to a bottle of OPI repair mode (which I really like) and some Cera Ve hand cream. My nails are better for sure and suddenly seem to grow quite fast, probably because they are breaking and peeling a lot less. However, I know I have some way to go yet so I keep them very short and I’ll just persevere. Whenever I need inspiration I watch this video again, I love it and I love your channel, it’s absolutely brilliant. Thank you! 💅🏻💕

I don't think there's anything wrong with polishing your nails as long as you are doing everything else to properly care for them. Even Shellac and gel can be absolutely fine but it's hard to find a nail tech as good as Anna!

I am on a nail journey myself and had the exact same issues as the woman in this video! 3 things have transformed my nails and pretty much look like her after photos: 1) gloves for dishes and no longer soaking in a hot tub every night. The constant water exposure, especially hot water, made them so thin and flimsy and peely 2) upped my protein and healthy fat intake. I was not getting nearly enough in my diet 3) OIL like her I have become religious about oiling my nails and cuticles and it’s been so good for my nails. Hope others can get the nails they have always wanted too!

I should also snap photos of my progress because as a result of watchimg your videos, I stopped cutting & buffing (and now I am only filing), plus I stopped the gel polish (plan to order Dazzle Dry), and now only use a delicate cuticle pusher. The change I implemented just last week was jojoba oil (instead of the nail lubrication concoction I had of coconut sweet almond, and another oil combined. In just a week of pure jojoba oil after each handwash, ridges seem to have filled in. I see results, and can only imagine what will occur in the weeks ahead. Thanks for this channel.

Same situation here. I did a lot to my nails until I learned from you I was ALL wrong! I buffed, cut cuticles and all surrounding dry skin. I picked and they bled. I now hot oil soak, just 3 days now. I have a ridges problem. I oil and Aquaphor and Bag Balm, all day long. I sleep w/ oil-soaked hands in Aloe gloves. I have had compliments on my hands for 70 years, my nails grow fast and long.-but now, they look really great! I am getting used to no polish and will avoid anything else topical. Thank you so much for this valuable education. I really appreciate you!

Wow.. I'm so inspired by this video. I've been painting my nails for the last 20+ years. Love looking after them.
But just realised that one of the reasons I refuse to have my nails bare is because I'm convinced they'll break. I'm inspired to focus on their health and not apply any nail polish for a few weeks or so and see what happens.

The hardest part of these nail transformation processess is that people say to stop wearing polish and like....I love painting my nails?? it's literally part of my hobbies and self-care and me time so the thought of saying no to that for multiple weeks makes it hard for me to follow something like this lol Beautiful transformation though.

@@cryptidofoz yeah, reading that also makes me sad because it makes having better looking nails completely pointless to me. The only reason I'm trying to grow them out and improve them is so I can wear colorful polish in the first place.

This gives me hope. Could be exactly my story.. at least the beginning haha. I'm hoping for similar results. My only problem is that I have a manual job and I tried not painting them but it made them so much worse because I constantly hit or catch them on something. I started oiling them as much as possible, which really helps but the peeling just doesn't grow out.. it's down too far on the nail plate to file it off. My nails do grow past the free edge but there is always new peeling further down 😐 I have put on some UV polish now (I know it's not what you recommend but I'm desperate lol) in hopes that it will last long enough for it to grow out my peels. Hope some day I can have a transformation / success story like the person in the video.
Anyway Since watching your channel my nails have gone from thin and bendy (+ripping all the time) to stronger and thicker! Just the peeling is still there really. Thanks you so much for your videos they have helped a ton already.

You might be interested to know this, over the years I have had a hit and miss history with my nails, for health reasons I take vitamin and mineral supplements, but I am always changing brands etc , after watching Dr Berg on RUclips I increased the amount of all B vitamins including vitamin H , now I only buy the activated B vitamins plus I increased my vitamin D and also zinc, I suddenly noticed my nails were so much better and my hair is slightly thicker, I also take magnesium daily so I am not sure which one has helped my nails but one of them has .

Skip the castor. It's the least absorbable oil. Jojoba is a very good oil because it's the closest to our body's sebum.

I do an oil soak too because my nails are naturally dry however my nails works better when I do paint them. As long as you keep up with the nail soaks then you should be fine wearing nail polish. I wear polish every single day. But to combat the dryness I do regular oil soaks. I get compliments on my nails often. I will say use a good base and top coat for you nail type. Since my nails naturally get brittle then I dont use nail hardeners. I do think nail oil is so important for healthy nails.
