Nail techs always recommend I should get gel and always always push for me to get dip and say it’ll help my nails become stronger and healthier. I caved once and got dip only to realize they were only pushing it since it’s an extra $50 just for using dip. At first I thought my nails really were stronger, but realized it was only due to the dip product. My nails were in a worse state when it was time for removal since almost no one has the patience to soak off and gently remove the product. 99% of technicians I’ve met always bring out the e file and seem to use it improperly because they’re trying to quickly remove the product and get clients in and out in just an hour. I got gel nails back to back for months. The last time I got gel was in October for vacation, and I removed it right after vacation in November to give myself a break. The nail tech severely damaged my nails and now layers of nail are missing and they used to burn a lot more at first. I looked online and apparently it’s called rings of fire. My natural nails used to be so thick and shaped beautifully and now they’re thin and bendy, which I’ve never seen them this bad in my life. I’m so very glad I found your channel and I do hope my nails will be in a better state in 3-6 months as I’m trying to leave them bare, short, and rounded while growing them out and applying cuticle oil with hot oil soaks regularly.
I have to say I was in the exact same situation as you. I stopped getting my nails done in August and did everything Anne has recommended. For years, I’ve gotten gel back to back. It’s January and my nails have never looked so healthy. I do my own manicures, I wear Dazzle dry, and the oil soaks- you won’t be disappointed
I’ve dealt with the same thing! I have started to be politely strict about what i want. I don’t care how much longer it’ll take, I don’t let them just peel them off or file them off too much. I can understand filing to get the top layer of acrylic or whatever off, but the rest of the additional nail needs to be soaked off. Although yes, i think I’ll take a page from this book and do regular hot oil soaks.
Dip is almost the same things as super glue. I'm thinking more and more, part of it is how well these products adhere to last a long time, that is one reason they cause so much damage.
I’m so so so glad I saw this comment because its exactly my experience, but I thought I must just have bad nails. I always thought and was always told that gel polish was better and that the dip polish would make my nails stronger but each time my nails were worse and worse. They’re so long now, but completely paper thin and fold over literally like paper and multiple are misshapen. My nails burn when i get them done, they just drill off the gel and layers of my nail. I thought that I must just have weak nails. Yours was exactly my experience too, I’m giving mine a break now as well. Cutting them super short and starting again.
My nail tech would take a fake nail and slide it under my acrylic to pop off. My nails started burning and i just couldn't take it anymore. I'm going back natural and glad i found your channel.
Omg, that is NOT a way this should be done. Pure torture and very dangerous. You can totally rip the nail plate off the nail bed. Very careless and risky.
@@teeahrahahnet terrible nail tech. Unfortunately I just realized I can't trust most here. Very fast paced and now my nails burn and my bed is damaged..
Thank you so much for making this. My nails are severely damaged and because of this video, I realized that in my attempts at restoring my nails, I have just been damaging them further. You're a savior for my poor nails 🙌🏼🙃
I've been doing the exact same mistakes 😭 :( gonna take a break from gel polishes for a good while and hopefully my nails will grow out as strong and healthy as they once were.
I realized a scary thing: there's never a repair phase in my country. You go to salon, they file off "cuticles", file off color, paint and cure. and then repeat 2-3 weeks later. So far, i have not talked to a technician that knows about nail repair, they just use harder materials to mask it. x.x And they teaching it so too. Kinda..still same mindset with makeup too-just cover problems with more products.
1. Washing dishes without gloves 2. Washing hands, a lot. 3. Removing nail polish every 7-10 days, then immediately repainting. 4. Not using any moisturizer at all. I believe these are the contributing factors for the current state of my nails. I have removed my last clear coat and filed them down rather short. They're stained from not using a clear coat under red polish (like Mama always told me to do). I don't have Jojoba oil. I have a little bottle of some kind of "Lavender" oil. I've been using that, and some hand lotion that doesn't irritate my eczema, for the last few days. I can already see a difference. In the past, I have had acrylics. But I decided to stop that completely. Not that I got them done regularly anyway. Right now I just want to get my nails and hands in better condition. I will see what I can do about getting some Jojoba oil. Thank you for your wonderful videos. From Oklahoma, USA. 💅
Lavender Essential oil should not be used alone, it's too strong. any Essential oil should be used in small amounts diluted in a carrier oil like jojoba oil, ect
Wow, this is THE most information I've ever come across on nails. I've watched SOOOO MANY and I've never come across all the tips that I've found here! Thank you so much for sharing and telling the truth instead of telling us that applying even more false nails are the answer to any problem. I have searched for this info for so long. Brilliant video!! 😁♥️
I'm so happy to hear this! Thank you so much! Gels, acrylics etc are not always bad, but I don't believe that they are the solution for damaged nails. The solution is usually much more simple than we think. People often over complicate things. Tomorrow I'm publishing a quick video with my easy and very effective daily routine :)
I've learned so much from you! I'm sticking to my weekly gentle manicures with regular nail polish and oiling my nails. My nails have been so beautiful since I started watching your channel and I can grow them long now if I choose! They are so strong!
Respect! I have gone all natural. Using warm oil soaks. Maxus salve. Gloves when washing dishes. Need to drink more water… nails still brittle. But, the damage is still growing out. You are the only nail tech who has ever cared about the health of clients nails. Thank you. Have learned so much.
I got a gel manicure right before COVID and when the nail salons were closed I rather stupidly peeled it off my nails...needless to say, it wrecked the nails. I tried everything for over a year until I found this channel 6 months ago and followed Anna's advice on nails. Currently my nails are almost recovered from my previous disastor. Thank you!
Anna’s advice has changed my nails forever! I had 2 sessions of acrylic nails a year ago - the first one was the wrong color, so I went back a week after application and had them removed. The nail tech took a sharp, thin blade, got under the corner of the acrylic, and basically sliced each one off. Yes, it hurt! Then I had another set applied and wore those for a month, and then had those soaked off and got them buffed to be “clean and shiny.” My nails were DESTROYED. They are already naturally thin and soft, but the blade had cut them badly and the buffing had left them tender and sore. So then I started wearing press-on and glue-on nails, thinking that would protect my natural nails. And I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t stick! I couldn’t keep anything on my thumbs, which had the most damage from the blade. Luckily, I found Anna’s channel in the spring and immediately stopped using anything but clear polish and oils and kept my nails very short. It’s taken the whole year, but I just trimmed the last of the damage from my nails this morning. My PNF & LNF are still not the best, mostly because I haven’t been keeping up with my routine lately, but I’m rededicating myself to taking better care of my hands and feet using her techniques. This is the real deal information!!
Hi Rebecca! Omg: that sounds like a torture! I can’t even imagine doing this to a client. I’m speechless! I’m so glad that your nails improved! Thank you so much for writing! ❤️
You have got my attention! I'm a 36-year cosmetologist, only focusing on hair and keeping it healthy and strong. After years of having my nails destroyed over and over, I've had it and I'm educating myself and will be doing natural nails for my customers and for all those who are also sick and tired of not having healthy strong nails. Thanks for all your content and education. Can't get enough of dazzle dry and MelodySuzie equipment. Just hard to find the Erica diamond files that are not course. Again, Thank you and I will continue to watch and learn only from you. Much ❤️
Hello Anna..after years of damage from wraps and dip I’ve begun my journey to restore my natural nails..I have learned so much from you already..it’s been 3 weeks…ty for your videos
So much great info!! Im.a nail technician myself. I even learned some new things from this video. So many nail technicians do nails and do not care at all about the health of the nails. Only the outcome. I've always believed keeping the nails in good health while also providing beautiful manicures and enhancements are both equally important
I overfiled my nails with an efile because some gel polish I had did not want to come off and they became white at the tips (also because of pushing and ripping leftover gel from the nail) and super sensitive, I’ve started doing a castor oil soak multiple times a week to see if there was any improvement and it works great, just patiently waiting for them to grow so that I can start wearing polish again but this time being not as reckless as before to not ruin them again 🖤
You nailed it!!! Way to raise the bar and up your game. For anyone new to the channel Anna knows what she is talking about. She will guide you and yours towards beautiful natural nails. I love you Anna for the gifts you bring in your kind and loving way! 🌸V
I was completely surprised to learn that I should not use a hardener on my "little flake of a nail." I had to laugh at that comment because that's exactly what I have been left with after years of dip powder nails. It's a vicious cycle - get the dip powder because my nails are so thin that they break deep in the quick, which in turn creates more damage. Each visit to the salon results in yet another layer being buffed off of my poor nails. Thanks so much for your videos. So glad I found you! (From Fort Worth, Texas, USA). (I would love to know what to do about nails that split vertically.)
I have a nail that splits vertically. It is the nail that also presses against a pen when I write. I found keeping a layer of clear polish (I use Sally Hansen's Miracle cure- blue bottle with a gold lid). It's not a miracle cure at all, but it did stop that nail from splitting. Also consider what stresses might be happening to that nail, like bumps or pressure-like mine was from writing. If I stop keeping polish on it, it will start splitting again. But bless your heart because those split can be painful!
I’m transitioning from acrylic nails and breaking my nail biting habit. My nails are damaged and your videos have helped me understand the whole process. I did not know the hardening polish isn’t good for damaged nails such as mine. Thank you!!!
new here. Found you off of tic tok and looking to start a healthy natural nail journey! My nails are thin following fake nail. They tend to grow long, but breaks once they are removed. I am here to learn how to grow nice/ long nails. Already have learned so much from listening to only two videos.
Hi there! Thank you so much for letting us know where you found us. We actually don't have a tik tok account. The account you seen is a fake. We are now in the process of trying to have it removed. Again, thank you for letting us know. We wish you well on your nail journey - MSL
You have got my attention! I'm a 36-year cosmetologist, only focusing on hair and keeping it healthy and strong. After years of having my nails destroyed over and over, I've had it and I'm educating mysel
*SO* much good information! I was guilty of getting gel nails thinking I was somehow protecting my natural nails...boy was that white lie exposed when I could no longer afford to keep them. It's been a decade since and I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to NOT do acrylic and gel nails (something I did for 20 years). Now I'm trying to break the habit of using my nails as tools and to at least put gloves on when doing dishes and cleaning because my nails are NOT happy! I've already tossed the nail clippers and have switched to exclusively filling my nails down. I've done a couple warm nail soaks, started to use cuticle oil every single time I wash my hands (which is a lot...germaphobe) and so so gently pushing the proximal nail fold down every couple days.
I used to push my proximal fold every couple of days and it was top much for my nails. I now do it once a week and the day I do my manicure. I apply the kerasal that she mentioned a few times 2 or 3 xs a week. Right now i have on clear polish because I had a nail break and Im waiting for it to grow out
I'm glad I found you! I decided to have my dip removed and nails trimmed down. My nails are naturally soft and bendy. They use to peel when I was young. I was also a long time nail bitter. Hence the reason I went to dip. I'm going to attempt to give my nails a break and get them healthy! All tips are greatly appreciated. 🥰
I’ve learned so much in the few videos that I’ve watched. On my nail care journey after years of nail abuse. I never thought of my nails like hair and now A LOT makes sense.
Hi Anna, I have been following you since February 2023 when I decided to be done with dip powders and acrylics. Since then, I have been following a routine of oil soaks, Kerosol, gentle manicure, IBX treatment, and protection with Dazzle Dry. What a HUGE difference this has made! For the first time in my life, my nails are strong and no longer paper-thin. It has taken approximately four months to achieve this and my nails are still on the short side, but it has been well worth the effort. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills!
Hi Anna! I’ve been a nail tech for 18 years and live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in the US. Your methods are very close to my own and it has excited me to find your videos. Thank you for your detailed video on nail damage. It will help me with explaining things to my clients. ❤️
Exactly 💯 on the spot! After 7 years of Shellac and later acrylic, I developed allergy and bumpy, unhealthy nails. I watched your videos and helped me a lot! Thanks Anna!
👋 I know that this video is a year old but I have just discovered your channel and wanted to say Hello from Poland 🙂 I am binge watching the content you created and I am so inspired to take care of my nails now, that I regret having just 20 nails to work with 😅
Fantastic video as always! I really liked the 'hair' metaphor/comparison. Thank you also for mentioning to have patience. That's the biggest problem for me. In a world of social media with everyone showing off their beautiful nails and polishes, it's so hard to be patient (and to not use any of my unique indie polishes).
I see a bunch of these artistic nails are hanging onto just a little nub of a fingernail underneath. My fingertips actually got painful at one point. So the beautiful nail art is what we see on social media, not the painful damaged nail underneath. I chose my nails health and save the fancy nails for the holidays.
So glad I googled 'how to fix soft nails after gel' and clicked your video! My nails were amazing, long, healthy so I thought why not get a gel to help protect them...... ugh..... lesson learned, the hard way. I am going to be binge watching your channel now so I can better educate myself on what to do to keep my nails looking sublime. Thank you!
I’m rededicating myself to following your advice, Anna. I’ve been watching your videos for a while and am trying to recover from years of SNS and then a year of “trying” to grow out the damage but using press-ons. While they aren’t as damaged as they used to be, they’re still not great. My New Year’s resolution is weekly oil soaks, multiple uses of jojoba during the day and only using Dazzle Dry. I just took my first picture and am looking forward to seeing my results in a few months. Thank you for educating us and sharing your knowledge. Happy holidays!
Hey Im new. I dont have nice nails and have resorted to gel, acrylic and dip in the past but it just makes my nails worse. I just started using the urea cream you suggested and it is a GAME CHANGER. I will be following you from now on. Looking forward to being educated and improving my natural nails. 😊🎉❤
My name is Theresa and I'm from Roanoke Virginia I've been doing my own gel nails with extensions and destroyed my nails most of them came completely off. I'm hoping your videos will help me regrow beautiful nails God bless you for putting these out there
I’ve been watching your videos for a while maybe a couple years. To be sincere some videos I don’t watch because they are too long for me but sometimes I just fast forward and watch some parts of the video😉 I don’t usually comment on social media because it’s like walking on eggs shells. But I wanted to say thank you. I can see from the beginning that you are true, passionate and knowledgeable about your work. I’m the kind of person that listen to many people and try to research what it’s said and mention about the topic. I used to do my nails a lot with regular nail Polish and sometimes I did soak off gel. People complemented my nails and designs that I learn how to create with the help of you tube. But I’m thinking age, hormones and unknowingly bad practices caused my nails to peel off. Since you started these new videos it has help me a lot to follow your advice. I’ve seen all the success on many of the ladies here in your videos and in myself and that’s why I believe you are the one and only knowledgeable and helpful person here on RUclips on this particular topic. Thanks again for sharing this knowledge with us. This video it’s perfect, you nailed it 🥰I wish many people can watch it and apply the knowledge given. Best wishes to you and yours. Keep the good work.👏🏽
This is an honest video and you stated everything I don’t want to hear. But I know you’re right and I just have to have PATIENCE! That’s the hardest part. Second hardest part is to look at my weak, brittle ugly nails. But after watching this I’m going to take your advice. And I like the tip about taking pictures every two weeks to track progress. Thank you for your honesty and great tips. It’s going to seem to take forever but I want out of the nail cycle of torture.
Hello Anna, I have just discover you 1 week ago and saw lots of your videos from that moment. Your technical explanations about nail growth are very clear and helpfull. My nails are naturally quite smooth and unfortunately I tried gel polish few times per years in the 10 last years 😪 which made them thiner and more fragile. I started the 'recovery cure' , daily following your precious advices. Thank you Anna for all your time and shares 🌺
Thank you for this gem of a video! My nails were destroyed by an application of acrylic tips, and I'm determined to never let that happen again. Thank you so much for showing how to really care for our nails.
This is an amazing channel. I have 2 questions. 1. My nails are very healthy, however they are naturally so thin. Which means that I get a lot of breakage. I know short nails are more mantainable but I do love the way long nails look. Is there anything I can do to thicken my nails? 2. Is there a good and safe product to use on nails to color them? Gel? Acrilic bath? Regular nail polish? And how do I make it last?
Hi from Adelaide South Australia. Just discovered your channel. Fantastic thank you. Was putting my disintergrating nail health down to primarily age but now realise my error and will do exactly as you suggest. The explanations are are so clear and easy to understand. Best ever channel on natural nail care. Again, thank you
My nails have always peeled after using gel polish. I was so tempted to have my nails done again with gel before going on vacation...after watching this video I'm staying with natural nails. Thank you!
I have been following you for about 6 months now. Years of biting my nails I resorted to acrylic nails and advanced to dip because it lasted a good 3 weeks plus. During Covid shut downs attempted to go natural and after a few weeks went back to gel. I am now use to not having polish or anything on my nails now. I do oil soaks and file very short. Another couple months and I will have all new fresh healthy nails. It’s because I watched so many videos and took notes even to learn from you. Thank you. Chipping at the ends was the worst part because of so much damage and oil soaks were a big deal in helping.
I had some gel nail varnish put on in for a few months after I was told it would help my nails grow and be healthier but in fact since the gel has been removed they have never been worse. They are thin, brittle, split and one nail was filed down so much by the nail technician that it started to bleed and was tender for a week. Never again. I am having to keep them ultra short while I try and get some strength back to my nails. I wish I never had them done in the first place. 😢
Hi Anna,l’m Anna too, from Australia 👋🏼 thanks so much for all this helpful info.l have really damaged my nails by filing off a hard gel-painful lesson learnt! I really liked how strong and protected the hard gels made my nails feel but l really think l’ll be staying away until there’s some kind of new easier removal method because l just don’t have the patience for the soaking off. Back to ordinary polish for me l think, after these poor stubs grow out the damage.
Thank you for the great video and advice! I had issues with Dazzle Dry base coat causing nail peeling, likely from the bond between the base coat and nail being stronger than the bond between the nail layers, just as you described. It seems to be a somewhat common problem based on the many many discussions of peeling nails in the Dazzle Dry fan group, though I don’t have the statistical data on that (and people tend to speak up more when they have issues with a product than when it’s working as expected, of course) But I would still be hesitant to use it as the “layer of clear base coat over thin nail plates when the nail bed is sensitive” for this reason.
Hi Marina! Have you seen my video Pros & Cons of Dazzle Dry Nail Polish | Watch Before You Buy❗️ ruclips.net/video/EYOnyWd9Qv4/видео.html I base my opinions on my salon work and nails is all I do. (I’m not being defensive here, just sharing info) Thousands of manicures and pedicures. So I see patterns. Although I do see some surface damage from DD too is way less common than a damage from regular polish. Majority of people have great improvement compare to regular polish and no or very little damage that can be mitigated with warm oil soaks and taking a day break from polish. Yes. Groups like the FB group you mentioned can distort the reality a bit. The majority of people who are happy with the product don’t write their experience. I mean it’s important feedback and worth paying attention to but it’s important to look at it from a perspective. Another thing I noticed is that usually the clear coat, so a thin coat of polish is usually less damaging. I have no idea why! Maybe it’s thinner and more flexible comparing to a thick coat? Also what helps are the breaks and warm oil soaks. Also the benefit of this clear coat (literally less pain from overfiled nails) and the risk of tiny bit of surface damage from the actual DD polish) makes it worth the risk in my opinion. Otherwise people sometimes tend to break and are tempted put the gel back on.
I damaged my nails quite badly months ago I guess from overbuffing them during removal from doing gels at home and softgel tips! There was redness, some became paper thin and they would split. I watched so many videos and yours were by far the best advice to save my nails. I'd always had pretty average nails, they'd break when they got to a certain length. It took me a while to take all your advice more seriously and now after 4.5 months since I've kept them short, applied jojoba mutlipe times a day, they are almost fully grown out since the damage.I haven't even done the warm oil soaks every single week and even the thinner parts at the free edge feel pretty strong! It took a lot of patience when they were splitting and I even had very minimal onycholisis on some nails, and cutting those down did help(this advice is in other videos). My nails are starting to look a lot whiter at the free edge like the lovely healthy pics you show. I am so grateful to you, thank you so much Anna! ❤
Hello from The Netherlands! I’ve learned so much from you videos, thank you so much. Doing the warm oiltreatment every week and culticle oil mutiple time a day. I see such a difference in my nails. And polish is lasting longer!
Hi! Greetings from Poland :) I just wanted to say that I'm very grateful to you for making the video, as right now, I have a very damaged nail of which one part is more thin than tissue paper and on top of that it's peeling. Now I feel more encouraged to wait and be patient as my nails grow out
Hi Anna! I recently developed some peeling which I believe to be caused by constantly wearing nail polish. So many people advocate wearing regular nail polish constantly to protect the nails, but I only get peeling when I have been wearing polish. So frustrating! How much time would you recommend for the nails to rest without polish (once they are healthy again, that is)? Btw, I have those naturally soft, bendy nails you frequently mention. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have learned so much here!
She addresses this in a video from this past summer, I believe. I think the suggestion was nail polish for one week and then bare nails for at least two. She was answering a viewer question about yellowing/white spots and nitrocellulose but I have followed this advice and my nails don't peel as much as they used to. Hope that helps!
Thank you for the honest information. I have damaged nails from gel products. The nail separated from the nail bed on all fingers! Quite disappointing as the salon and technicians don’t really explain the damage that can happen. I am patiently waiting as the nails grow out. Definitely not a quick process. I can guarantee I wont be using those products in the future. I will try the hot oil treatment though!
This is so helpful. My nails started splitting and breaking not long after I started using Orly Bonder. (I only ever use regular polish, I just file to shape them, and I don’t buff.) I was mystified to why my nails suddenly got so bad with normal polish and plain acetone to remove, but if a too-sticky base coat can separate nail layers maybe that’s what happened. I’ve been oiling with jojoba but I’ll try the warm oil soaks. Oh, you wanted to know where we are from. Washington DC for me.
I stumbled onto your channel this morning and there’s always questions no matter how long you’ve done nails and I’ve been doing nails for about 40 years and I found your video. Very helpful. Great info 👍
I love your videos and really appreciate the ones showing the different colors on your husband's nails. The videos, and you, are so professional and informative. I've started using Dazzle Dry products and am absolutely thrilled with the quick drying feature and my nails are already starting to look better. Thank you.
Hey 👋 watching from England and I wanted to thank you! I’ve stumbled upon one of your videos about a month ago and I was hooked. I binge watched almost all your videos in about 2 days. I then ordered the glass cuticle file/pusher, the orange stick ones, cuticle remover, nail clippers, cuticle oils and the Eucerin foot cream ( who would’ve thought?! ). I have since stopped cutting my “cuticles” aka PNF 😅 and I’m doing warm oil soaks as well. I am now enjoying the ritual of taking care of my nails again which was gone after so many years of doing wrong mind you…Anyway what was supposed to be a short comment turned into a big rambling and almost a love letter to you! I wish more people would watch your channel, you have changed the way I do my manicure but you’ve given me more than healthy looking nails, I am most grateful for the joy I gained from it! Thank you again, lots of love and Happy Holidays 🎄🎅❤️😘
I used to get my nails done religiously for at least ten years. I just stopped and was hoping to find a miracle cure. I guess here is to waiting for new nails to grow out. Thank you.
I have been doing my own nails for years and recently turned to gel polish. I love it, but...over filed. 😢 I've watched so many different videos and noticed just as many mixed messages. Watching your videos has provided me with a great deal of education and confidence to take proper care of my nails and skin. I appreciate your time for providing this and I have a lot of respect for you and your nail care wisdom. Thank you 😊
Thanks for all the information, I appreciate it as it has not helped my depression. So I will try the things you said on the natural nail and be as patient as possible...It's upsetting as I used to have strong beautiful nails, before all these products that we all seem to use.
Searching for solution and came across your page a few days ago. I’ve been wearing gel manicures for years and I decided to start going them myself last month. I did two sets and the gel was peeling. When I finally took the gel off I realized that my nails were sensitive to water temperatures and even touch. They were also super thin and fragile. I’ve been getting them done for so long I never gave it a lot of attention. 😢
I love your channel and find you immensely helpful and knowledgeable. It is my belief that there are some people, me included, that should never ever consider having a gel manicure. My nails are naturally soft and bendy, and always have been. They are healthy, so I don’t believe there are any issues or problems with them, but on the two occasions I have had a gel polish manicure, it has taken months for my nails to repair from the weakness and damage caused once the gel polish has been removed. It leaves them incredibly fragile and weak and I just don’t think thin nails are up to it.
Hi Nina! It also depends how the gel polish was removed. There shouldn’t be that much damage. Sadly many nail techs force the product off the nails peeling off layers of the nails with it
I always love the way gel polish looks, but I was scared to try it because my nails peel. I broke down and treated myself to a gel manicure for my birthday in June. I loved the way it looked. I kept it on for probably a month because I was scared to soak it off. I ended up soaking my nails in warm water with Dawn dish liquid. Then I took hand sanitizer and rubbed the nails with it after very lightly filing the shine. Little by little the gel eventually came off with a little "picking". My nails were a little damaged but not as bad as I feared. That was my first and last time. Lol. Still trying now at the end of October to get my nails healthy again. But they were not super healthy before the gel due to the peeling. I keep my nails very short and I've always used clippers to keep them short instead of filing them. Could that be why they peel?
Thank u so much, i completely stopped nail art after i removed the gel and my nails so bendy i was shock and scared, i don't know if peel off base coat will going to remove the nails layer... I'm now only doing manicure to take care of my nail, will definitely doing nail art again after my nail feel better...
thank you very much for the very clear and above all honest explanation. I had a nasty reaction after removing Biab. The nails are brittle and even loosened in some places. I even had pain in my fingertips for 3 weeks. I take your helpful advice to heart. Greetings Ans Vermeulen
Hi, Brinda from Chicago US First of all thanks to you and the team for making very informative video. I did gel nails for the first time but had to redo it due to chipping since I was attending two weddings. So all 3 times gel paint was done in 45days. I see my nails damaged as they look cloudy to me. Past one month I am rubbing organic coconut oil at the bed of all nails. I do see some difference in new growth. After watching your video I feel confident & good that I did not buy any chemicals base products to heal my nails. Once again Thank you very much.
I appreciate your honest feedback on what really works and how to avoid the fake claims companies make. As someone with damaged, thin nails after bariatric surgery and trying to fix myself, this was very good information.
Thank you so very much! I worked on this video for days. Seriously. I’m so glad it shows. I’m learning to present the info clearly without talking in circles and going on rants lol. Lots of preparation went into this video :)
Hi! I am new. I happened across your channel. I have dry, peeling nails and I am over 50. I do have damage after recent gel nails. I don't usually wear gel. I continue to learn a lot from your channel. Thank you!😊
Thank you so very much for this very informative and helpful video. I am 70 years old and for our 50th wedding anniversary, my husband bought me the most beautiful ring. I’ve always had less than desirable nails, and wanting my hands to look so much better, I used a few gel products, one requiring led lighting to harden. I thought all was well with removal, but not so! I am now patiently waiting for regrowth as nothing helps the already damaged parts as you so well informed us. I will never do it again! Ugh. Thank you again.
Hello Barbara! Thank you so much for your message! Gels etc are not as easy to use as they might seem. Even more tricky to remove. Warm oil soaks will help to condition your nails. Keep them short. You are welcome :))
I have black marks on my nails which started coming three years ago and don't know why. I do take medication but it's the same ones I've been on for years
❤Thank you for this!!❤ Atl USA here 🇺🇸 I’ve been doing my own nails for a year and recently found I have extensive damage. I’ve learned so much from this video thank you!
👋 tuning in from California! Your knowledge and educational videos have been a life savor for me! You taught me how to wrap my edges, that Essie gel couture is not a real gel, that there is risk for allergies with real gels ( I am happy with my 20 bottles of Essie couture and wont be doing gels) and so much more that would make this comment very long, thank you so much for your dedication for our well-being! I love you channel and have been binging all your videos!
My nailbed hurts in the middle. I overfiled it using the electric al file. .mid part got too thin..it hurts even i touch it. Can u tell me how to treat this??
This video is just so informative and helpful. Thankyou for sharing your personal beliefs in addition to your knowledge. I recently have damage to nails that have probably been there for many years. My thumb nail is very ugly and is separating from the nail bed. Shoul I do the oil soaks and how can I protect it from more damage. It's, of course, on my dominate hand and is constantly in water. Thankyou for any help you are able to offer.
I have damaged my nails so severely by doing my own gels and changing them too often. I’ve now developed an acrylate allergy that is absolutely awful. I’m hoping following along I can save and regrow my nails 😭
Great videos, I have definitely had nail damage due to allergic reactions to gel, acrylic product's and recently regular nail polish. I have left my nails bare for just over a year and have noticed the white milkly part of my nail is visible around my cuticle area the rest of the nail is redish pink like the images you have shown in this video. My milky area does not seem to be fully coming back. I am a pro nail tech so have knowledge of the products I use. There is not much information on how to recover from damaged nails due to the product.
I'm new here from Philadelphia. Getting ready to have my gel and gel polish removed. I have already purchased jojoba oil, blue cross and a glass cuticle pusher. Hope im ready! Love your channel. 🤗
Had long gel nails last week, within 4 hours I took them off. Omg never again, they look fake, they feel fake and my nails are short now, but thank god i took them off. Yuk
Thank you so much for this simple direct presentation of the facts!👍 I have been struggling most of my adult life with deep side splits on my thumb and index finger nails even when kept very short. It has gotten worse the older I get. I have resorted to acrylics and gels periodically over the years. Which of course didn't help long term. Most recently I have kept my nails bare, very short and used various nail strengthening products & treatments with very poor results. I thought it was my imagination my nails seemed to only be getting worse. Last week I ordered Apres nails purely out of frustration. I was going to apply them tomorrow. Instead I will put them aside and follow the plan you presented here. Thanks again...Wish me luck!
You explained my nail damage to me perfectly! I got impatient taking off my last gel manicure but good to know I’ve been doing the right things since. I found some really good long lasting nail adhesives that protect my nail but I can use any glue if I want. They release with oil from my nail. I just change nails every 1-2 weeks and clean out the adhesive and save them for another round 22:12
Hi, I am so grateful I found your video my nails need desperate help from wearing acrylic nails which I find my own nails are thin and have ripped on certain nails I don’t know what to do but I do know stay away from acrylic nails
Thank you so much. What you say has been really helpful to me in understanding why, when I "take such care if my nails," they are so damaged. Wonderful advice
I've found this very informative I've had Acrylic done on my nails regretting it now the reason I had Acrylic done was because I was going out special occasion and my nails were awful I have ridges they flake and split I will try the oil method to see if strengthens my nails id give anything for nice long nails really enjoyed watching thank you x
Very helpful! I am a novice with DIY gel system. Been having gel french tip done at salon for a year and half. Clearly need to let my nails grow out for 2-4 months for healthy new nails. I will be patient.
Thanks so much for the advice you gave and the education on nail care and products should and shouldn’t use. My nails are so horrible. They are splitting on the sides and down the middle. I have cut them off, and I have been using this nail repair stuff. I am going to try the oil soak and see how that does. I will never go back to the nail salons again. I just want them healthy. I stopped going for several months now. I am praying they start to look better soon. Again, thank you.
Thank you very much for this profound and detailed explanation! And also thank you for respecting the viewer's time and not including too much "water" in this info-packed video. This confirmed what I have intuitively figured out and reassured me that I am doing everything right. I did learn lots of new things here as well, especially the brand names.
Hello from Canada! Finally a video that tells the reality….and then some tips while you are waiting for the nails to grow back. I love the look of artificial nails…but not sure I can ever go back to them now.
I just removed gelish polish after years of monthly renewal and of course they are damaged. I just didn’t know they were categorised as “damaged”. Question: can I leave them bear without adding anything on top?
This girl knows her stuff. Very truthful about the damage of some nail procedures.
Thank you Jay 😘
I have never had my nails done in my life, and after reading the stories of horror, I know I was right.
Absolutely. I've been doing the same!
Me to thank you x
I realized a scary thing: there's never a repair phase in my country. You go to salon, they file off "cuticles", file off color, paint and cure. and then repeat 2-3 weeks later. So far, i have not talked to a technician that knows about nail repair, they just use harder materials to mask it. x.x And they teaching it so too. Kinda..still same mindset with makeup too-just cover problems with more products.
1. Washing dishes without gloves
Jojoba Oil is readily available and cheap at Trader Joe's ❤️
I agree completely with your comment!
Anna is an EDUCATOR. She does beautiful nails but education is her forte.
I've learned so much from you! I'm sticking to my weekly gentle manicures with regular nail polish and oiling my nails. My nails have been so beautiful since I started watching your channel and I can grow them long now if I choose! They are so strong!
Good luck! I hope your nails grow out beautiful and strong.
Respect! I have gone all natural. Using warm oil soaks. Maxus salve. Gloves when washing dishes. Need to drink more water… nails still brittle. But, the damage is still growing out. You are the only nail tech who has ever cared about the health of clients nails. Thank you. Have learned so much.
Watching from Canada. I am transitioning from getting false nails at a salon to doing my own natural nails and this channel has been so helpful.
Hello 👋🙋♀️. We used to live in Canada too!
I’m impressed with her knowledge and how thorough she is about nails and caring for them
I got a gel manicure right before COVID and when the nail salons were closed I rather stupidly peeled it off my nails...needless to say, it wrecked the nails.
Much ❤️
Anna, your content on natural nail care is the only one that makes complete sense! I will only ever take YOUR advice.😊. Thank-you so much!❤
Hello Anna..after years of damage from wraps and dip I’ve begun my journey to restore my natural nails..I have learned so much from you already..it’s been 3 weeks…ty for your videos
Thanks for sharing!!
Preach! My right middle fingernail splits vertically, always in the same spot
I've this problem and I've found that CND nail repair helps, it's in a tiny little bottle and has made a difference but it takes a few months .
The same here. I thought it helps :(
Same! Good luck with your journey 😊
@@TheSalonLife correction. Someone mentioned you on ticktock.
You have got my attention! I'm a 36-year cosmetologist, only focusing on hair and keeping it healthy and strong. After years of having my nails destroyed over and over, I've had it and I'm educating mysel
11:20 pm EST.. watching from KY ... love how u simplify and have a real discussion and teaching us also!! TY..!!!
Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! So happy your nails are better!! Thank you for writing :))
Hi Anna! Hope your nails recover! ❤️
👋 I know that this video is a year old but I have just discovered your channel and wanted to say Hello from Poland 🙂 I am binge watching the content you created and I am so inspired to take care of my nails now, that I regret having just 20 nails to work with 😅
Witam i dziękuję za pozdrowienia:)) Cieszę się że moje filmy się przydają :)) miłego weekendu :)
Hands down the best video I have seen on nail care. Thank you!
Anna it is easy to see your LOVE for education. Helping people with their nails 💅 is hard from being in a remote location. Keep up the great work.
The best video ever existed on YT! Thank you so much for teaching us how to take care of our nails and repair them at home !
Wow, thank you! :))
Hey Im new. I dont have nice nails and have resorted to gel, acrylic and dip in the past but it just makes my nails worse. I just started using the urea cream you suggested and it is a GAME CHANGER. I will be following you from now on. Looking forward to being educated and improving my natural nails. 😊🎉❤
I am new to this channel, would you mind sharing which urea cream?
My name is Theresa and I'm from Roanoke Virginia I've been doing my own gel nails with extensions and destroyed my nails most of them came completely off. I'm hoping your videos will help me regrow beautiful nails God bless you for putting these out there
Hello Theresa! Welcome :) Thank you for writing!!
Hello Vero! Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️
Thank you!!! My nails have been splitting and peeling and they HURT. I’m so thankful for your videos! Subscribed and shared!
Thanks for subbing!
you are a nail master encyclopedia.
LOL. Thank you :)
Again, thank you
Loving that you are at 50K! Congrats!
Thank you!!!! Yay!!!!
Hi Helena. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Marina!
Have you seen my video
Pros & Cons of Dazzle Dry Nail Polish | Watch Before You Buy❗️
ruclips.net/video/EYOnyWd9Qv4/видео.html
I base my opinions on my salon work and nails is all I do.
Thank you Anna for telling it like it is! You have helped me to understand and enjoy my natural nails 😊
Hi Susana! Thank you for writing! ❤️
Hi Anne! So glad my advice is helping your nails :)) ❤️
Hi! Greetings from Poland :)
I just wanted to say that I'm very grateful to you for making the video, as right now, I have a very damaged nail of which one part is more thin than tissue paper and on top of that it's peeling.
Thank you so much!!
I love your videos and really appreciate the ones showing the different colors on your husband's nails. The videos, and you, are so professional and informative. I've started using Dazzle Dry products and am absolutely thrilled with the quick drying feature and my nails are already starting to look better. Thank you.
2 of nails have vertical splits in them, a nail tech told me I’d always have these splits as my matrix is damaged. Is this correct?x x
Thank you.
We wish you all the best in growing out your nails :)
Thanks!
Thank you! ❤️
Ah, I just saw that you have sent us "thanks". On my mobile app it didn't show me that! Thank you so much, much appreciated 🤗❤️
I have been doing my own nails for years and recently turned to gel polish. I love it, but...over filed. 😢
I've watched so many different videos and noticed just as many mixed messages.
Watching your videos has provided me with a great deal of education and confidence to take proper care of my nails and skin. I appreciate your time for providing this and I have a lot of respect for you and your nail care wisdom.
Thank you 😊
thank you Denise! ❤️
Thanks for sharing. We're sorry to see you had a reaction like this. We hope your recovery is speedy and that our advice may help you along the way.
Hi, Brinda from Chicago US
First of all thanks to you and the team for making very informative video.
This is the best video that you have ever presented, and that is saying a lot. Thanks for the excellent programs. Jo Ann from the south of U.S.A.
Thank you!😊
Hi Valencia! So sorry for the late reply! I just wanted to say hello and welcome :)
I do take medication but it's the same ones I've been on for years
Thank you so much! I learned a lot. I just mixed my own oil treatment :).
❤Thank you for this!!❤
Atl USA here 🇺🇸
I’ve been doing my own nails for a year and recently found I have extensive damage. I’ve learned so much from this video thank you!
Hi Laura! 🤗. Thank you so much for your message! ❤️
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m so glad the videos are helping:)) Anna
My nailbed hurts in the middle. I overfiled it using the electric al file. .mid part got too thin..it hurts even i touch it. Can u tell me how to treat this??
It needs to grow out. If you have an open wound please see a medical professional.
Hello there! Please check out the video where I talk about nail plate separation from nail bed: ruclips.net/video/N94uoUU73bw/видео.html
I have damaged my nails so severely by doing my own gels and changing them too often. I’ve now developed an acrylate allergy that is absolutely awful. I’m hoping following along I can save and regrow my nails 😭
Thanks for sharing!!
I have developed an allergy as well. Have you cured it?
Hi Ruthann! Good luck 🤗 :)) Anna
Had long gel nails last week, within 4 hours I took them off. Omg never again, they look fake, they feel fake and my nails are short now, but thank god i took them off. Yuk
Hello from British Columbia, Canada. I’ve just recently found your channel and look forward to learning techniques to improve my nails. ❤
@@cathrinej3935 I have removed an acrylic nails I find my own nails are thin .what product would help maintain healthy nails
Greetings from Miami, Florida. I've been getting harsh manicure for over 40 years. Now I only do my own gentle manicure you teach. Love your videos!
Do you have an updated link to the article about overexposure and allergies to gel produts?
Very helpful! I am a novice with DIY gel system. Been having gel french tip done at salon for a year and half. Clearly need to let my nails grow out for 2-4 months for healthy new nails. I will be patient.
It can take up to 6 months for a full nail to grow out. Depends how much damage you have. It's like growing out over bleached hair.
Thank you so much for the comment! Welcome 🤗
I just removed gelish polish after years of monthly renewal and of course they are damaged. I just didn’t know they were categorised as “damaged”. Question: can I leave them bear without adding anything on top?
