    I love press--on's but i recently went back to the salon for acrylic cos i can't stay away from water. However, i recently saw a video where they used acrylic to glue on the press on nails. There's a technique to it( how much acrylic, where, angle etc)but i imagine they will last longer. I'm motivated to go back to my press-on. Thanks for the video. Sending love from South Africa 🇿🇦

      Be careful of the press on nails, you have to use nail glue. I did a set at before Valentine’s Day and I’m still trying to get the darn things off.

    • @MichelleFoxBeauty
      @MichelleFoxBeauty  Год назад +2

      When I use glue they don’t last as long! Isn’t that weird? I prefer Dashing Diva Magic Press nails and the adhesive is kind of like rubber cement. It doesn’t combine well with glue.

    Hi Michelle, I have not never tried this type of nail strip. I have gel applied to my nails. I find that the manicurist is the key to healthy nails. I would be willing to try the nail strips.

    Ive never done traditional acrylic, I hate the smell of it and it damages nails. I usually get gel or dip. I love dip but it's a lot bulkier than gel, plus it takes a long time to put on. I've tried press ons, dashing diva and color street. None of those last more than a day on me, idk why. I like the glamnetic press ons. They last longer on me, and they're reusable. I only get regular polish on my toes and it lasts.

    • @MichelleFoxBeauty
      @MichelleFoxBeauty  2 года назад +1

      They are that much better! If you know you had time to let them “set” (ideally overnight), you’re not going to lose one unexpectedly. And I’ve never had one chip!

    Color street nails are absolutely garbage. They eventually destroy your nails. Would never use them again. I know 4 people that sold them and decided to stop because of the damage they do to your nails

      @christinapresto6951 IDK about them being bad for you, but Color Street is an MLM - not a small business. You can purchase nail strips at WalMart or anywhere for much cheaper and they're just as good.

      Just to ask, would washing hands straight after getting dip nails done, would that not solve the sanitary issue? Just asking, as I have a dip appointment coming up later this week (first time, which is why I am here).

    Great video. Thanks you for breaking it down. I started off trying Essie gel couture which does not require any uv lights but obviously does not last as long as real gels. I decided to try gels and was really happy with the results. I am not comfortable with UV light on my hands so it is something I only do once a year or so. I do love how they look but can't get used to the thought of uv light exposure. They do sell gloves online that block uv light, but not sure how well they work.

    I think my nail salon used acrylic and not gel. I asked for dip first but they recommended gel and she said the powder was the gel. Last time I got gel it was an actual gel out of the container. This was the same as the acrylic powder they mix with the blueish liquid..... Did I get lied to?

    • @MichelleFoxBeauty
      @MichelleFoxBeauty  Год назад +1

      I am not familiar with it but I'm super curious! Sounds great! A lot of systems that last a long time for others don't last long for me because I have oily nail beds and very thin nails, but as far as feeling good about trying them, I say "go for it!". Thanks for commenting!

  • @DipsyMum29

    Acrylics saved my nail bed. I was a nail biter from childhood and by the time I was a teenager and cared about nails and makeup my nail bed was destroyed.
    I ended up using press on toe nails because they were short enough for my tiny beds to cope with.
    Once my nails had grown under else I had acrylics because they were so hard that I couldn’t chew them lol
    When you have a habit from childhood like that you don’t realise that you are doing it until you catch yourself.
    I now have lovely acrylics and just refilled them when they grew out (usually soaking them off every 4 infills). A year later natural my nail bed has repaired itself underneath.
    I am thinking or getting gels now but my nail bed is still on one small side even now.

    Even if a nail salon uses metal instruments and sanitises them, they still use the same nail files on everyone. And nail polishes are also shared. Best to bring your own stuff, or learn to do them yourself at home if you are worried about cross-contamination.
    There’s nothing like a fresh shiny nail! ❤
