The packaging is so gimmicky though. Using a separate spatula which he uses to wipe the product onto his fingers. Unless people are sanitizing that spatula after every use, they might aswell use fingers. Also, any product coming from a tube would prevent the need to put your fingers in there.

Hey! Naturopath here! Wanted to explain a little about what I think jeffree meant by the plankton extract boosting the skin's immunity haha.
Plankton extract mostly boasts high fatty acid and zinc content! The fatty acids helps to ensure the skin barrier/acid mantle maintains integrity and blocks potentially harmful bacteria from entering as a part of its normal function, and the zinc is additionally antibacterial. You already know all the other benefits of zinc to the skin ;)
I think he essentially means that it helps the skin to perform it's functions as a part of the immune system better by the above mechanisms :)

@@frankiefavero1666 that's simply untrue. @@silentgypsy Shiseido and scientific research cannot be used in the same sentence! Shiseido has been doing cosmetic research with a lab, more like it. Cell differentiation and reprogramming cells has been going know for at least a decade; I've personally overseen the process of turning epithelial cells into neurons! What we do not know is how to "strengthen immunity" at a cellular level (this includes all skin cells), there are plenty of harsh/surfactants that can weaken the skin barrier... however, and I repeat, no magical typical ointments that "strengthen the skin's immunity"... you're welcome to include scientifically publish research findings as proof and I am opening to "learning", however I can point you towards dozens of peer reviewed research studies that continue to find that the whole concept of "boosting your immunity" with a topical ointment is a complete crock...

    • @silentgypsy
      @silentgypsy 2 года назад +5

@@frankiefavero1666 well I think that depends entirely on what criteria you are using to measure this metric in the first place, doesn't it? Skin immunity can be seen as a trademarked term, a scientific one and also a colloquial one. I wonder if you've actually read any of the Shiseido studies BC that was a very emotional response for someone touting the scientific method (a meticulous and unemotional process, I'll add).
Supporting the natural functions of the skin can easily be seen as enhancing the immune system via improved skin integrity (skin being a first defence in the immune system) and overall health, so I think you are taking a very reductionist perspective in assuming that what you personally understand as "enhancing skin immunity" is even what's being referred to in the first place.

This in difference to your last video about what to expect from jeffree star skin is kinda refreshing.
I love how you’ve taken your personal opinions of jeffree star and put it to the side to actually give us a scientific insight into his products.
That last video of what to expect when he even announced him having a skin line to be released was honestly cringe to watch, and while I was going to comment on that video, I wanted to share a brief bit of my opinion here.
Everyone is allowed, without anyones permission, to feel how they feel about jeffree star. What we can agree to disagree on is that people do change if willing. None of us know him as a person in all depths of it all, however, regardless if you’re a celebrity or not, we’re all human. We all make mistakes and it’s what we do with those mistakes that matter. Sure, he has said and done some morally awful things, but I, along with others I’m sure, have watched him take accountability and noticed a change in him.
It wouldn’t be fair if people constantly brought up your mistakes when you’ve taken accountability and are constantly working everyday to change it because who you were when you made those mistakes aren’t you now.
People act like others have to be this perfect person who doesn’t make mistakes and isn’t allowed to grow from them because it’s just SO detrimental to society. No, that would be hypocritical at its finest. Just because he has money doesn’t mean he isn’t human.
With that being said, I absolutely LOVE all of his products. His quality in eyeshadow has definitely improved from his first two palettes he released when he started JSC. His products are literally the best in the industry . So say what you want about him as a person, but you can’t argue that his products are on the same wavelength because that would be false.
He is a smart businessman and his cosmetic products are top tier level. Since he does make quality products, I have hardly any doubts about his future with skin care products. Do I think he will most likely come out with different scent bundles or skin care bundles for a trend? I don’t think it’ll be something for a trend nor do I think it’s a cash grab. I’m sorry but the man has multiple companies and investments and I don’t think he’s looking for a cash grab.
I think this is a great start for his skin care line and I’m excited to see what else he comes out with.
It just means that people shouldn’t feel as though they HAVE to have this just because it’s him. As a consumer, ultimately you have to be careful about what will work for you and what doesn’t because everyone has their own needs for what their skin needs.
Just like what you see on Instagram, just because it looks great doesn’t mean you have to buy it because it’s in your face all the time.
In conclusion, thank you for making this video and not letting your personal views get in the way of your scientific perspective.
Anywho, welcome to my TedTalk. 🙏🏻

Man I really like Cassandra, and her video's are typically really great. Welp, I really didn't like this one much at all though.. I mean, I appreciate the fact she was still honest, I guess... I just didn't dig her attitude towards it all I guess. Idk it came off really rude, stuck up, like she was just waiting for some horrible thing to happen, (that never came) To me, expecting of the worst before even starting just isn't a good approach on anything in life.. and unfortunately I feel like this cause a pretty decent loss in the amount of respect I had for her. She's still amazing don't get me wrong... and plus, I know the way I feel about her means absolutely nothing anyways, but still it just kind of hurts the heart a little seeing someone I respected so much act so... childish, like a mean girl in highschool almost. It's just never the vibe I got from her much, so it took me off guard I think.

Actually, your skin does technically have “immunity”. On top of our skin we have a biofilm that’s meant to protect our skin. This biofilm is produced by the cells from our epithelium, plus sebaceous cells and sweat glands. It is meant to modulate our tissue immunity, containing immunoglobulins, enzymes and an adaptable medium for fighting against pathogens. So yes, it is possible to boost skin immunity.

May not mean anything but I bought the line and I don’t wear makeup but have acne break outs and combo skin. I just wanted to honestly try it to see how it would perform. Shockingly I do enjoy the products. The melt/cleanser actually does a good job at cleaning but not stripping. I have a tough time finding anything to cleanse with that doesn’t turn me blood red. This does a great job the past 4 times I’ve used it. The toner is pretty nice truly. I’ve never worried with a toner and I don’t have anything to compare it to but it does what it’s supposed to from what I’ve researched. The stars of the show are the eye cream and moisturizer. I LOVE both of them. The smell is very light but nice and it doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s one of the best I’ve used truly and my skin has been feeling so nice these past few days. It’s nice to use and your skin feels it but it’s super light and you don’t feel heavy after using them. I am SHOCKED I like it as much as I do. The lip mask I skipped on and the mist is pretty nice as well. I don’t wear makeup and have never tried a mist but it’s like a shot of instant hydration and just makes it feel complete and that might be more placebo than the work it’s doing but it feels nice and looks good on the skin and I find the glow it leaves makes me feel good and that’s the objective. All in all I don’t usually support everything he does, I think people can vote with their wallet how they choose, but maybe if you’re on the fence or if you just want to try it, it’s worth it imo. I will be replacing my current regimen with it.

I will say- I respect the fact that you reviewed this line fairly, without pushing your opinion on JS. I love your channel, and I like to consider myself as a skintellectual… I also wear makeup, and I love Jeffree Star. Watching you review the ingredient deck sort of made me want to purchase some of the products, because I was on the fence about it. I’d probably use the balm to remove my sunscreen- I also love a good moisturizing base under makeup; so I suppose the eye cream and face moisturizer would be worth trying. While Jeffree is not a chemist, but I trust a business person as big as him, and someone with a reputable brand would pay good money to have great chemists work on products.
I’m aware of things that Jeffree may have said or done in the past/ but I’m also aware of the fact that he’s apologized for those things numerous times. I don’t know how we expect people to change and become better, when we single them out forever and not give them a chance to change: it sort of feeds into this “cancel culture” mentality, and I hate it. Not to mention the huge donations he’s done in the past years to support good causes, as well as giving back to his followers- no one ever talks about these things.

Also...my fave eye cream had both mica AND yellow, and a month my pre-eye cream dark circles got lighter AND my post-eye cream finally got a pale enough color correct for me to look more healthy WITHOUT concealer. I'm also super pale so it's really hard for me to find a color correct pale enough for my pigmentation, so this was a happy accident for something I only expected to help shadow grip. I'm now more interested in looking at things marketed as an eye cream but have pigments and mica for low-key color correct.

Jeffree star is probably one of the only influencers who owns his brand and everything that comes out is done through him. He's there at his labs and nows everything that goes on in the process of his make up and skin care.

good review Cassandra! I personally love JSC products, the packaging and quality of his products are freakin amazing considering they are also inexpensive. I wasn't hoping for much with his skincare and also thought he would have makeup wipes so I was extremely surprised at the ingredients on his products. I would personally give it a try but more for a sensorial experience and use it on days where I take a break from high percentage active ingredients.

It's adult Hello-Kitty packaging , but if you think it may work for you , give it a try . . There is a 14 day return policy . . and like with all skincare products you don't know how well it will work with your skin until you actually use it for yourself.

I appreciate you explaining your take on J.S. I was watching all the way and sensing that you truly did not care for him. Thanks for clearing that up at the end. I have been watching J.S. for a long time. I know that he has spoke of creating skincare with hints for over two years now. The fact that he took his time and worked with what looks like Great chemists says a bunch. I think the prices are very good, especially when you look at the fact that he is not jacking up the price just because he's Jeffree Star (like other famous people's skincare lines). I am a skincare creator. I have used plant extracts for different reasons, and to be honest, sometimes those reasons are for a nice scent that has benefits (like trying to figure out what plant extract can be used to cover up the smell of red algae - turns out it's strawberries lolol). In fact, I have been working on a line of products with strawberries. You can imagine how sad I am that he released his line just closely to the time that I am finishing up my own line lolol. I end with this...I adore you and am a Big fan and watch you as often as I can. Big Love to you and thank you for the review. I couldn't wait to hear your take on his stuff. I trust you so it means a bunch.

Wow how cool that you work on your skincare line with 🍓! I actually love strawberry, rapsberry and watermelon extracts in my skincare! Also strawberry is an awesome source of vitamin c so i believe it is great for skin when formulated with right chemists. I will for sure try something for his line, but also i would buy something from your line since i am a huge fan of strawberry. Also i love cherry in skincare!
