I've ONLY ever used the right shift key in my life - for the secondary functions of the numerical keys and this ? symbol - for actually typing out capital letters I've always used and always WILL use CapsLock. I'm still running on the same 14 one, but the experience was only great for half a year. After that the noise has been getting on my nerves and two months ago the battery swole up. Yesterday I found out that the mouse buttons do not work anymore. Doesnt matter that Razer products are slim and nice looking if they die in a matter of two years. Highly dissappointed and I would never buy Razer again.

You're absolutely right about laptop speaker! I got my Zephyrus G14 and was shocked by the quality of its speakers. Apart from specs, I also look for the quality of sound the speakers produce. I'll buy a Razer once they give it a good set of speakers.
Have you had issues with your G14 though? I've had mine for less than a year and the CPU thermal throttles like crazy, so damn disappointed. Think I'm gonna get this laptop, honestly.
Your nerves will also get thin since 4-5 months after you buy this something about it will begin to defect/malfunction on its own. Speaking from experience.
It has a very clean look, sturdy build that can stand a bit of abuse, good specs with some upgradable components and decent i/o (for a modern laptop at least, extra points for a full-sized SD card slot). If I were looking for a long-time laptop, I would definitely consider a Razer Blade.
I purchased a 2020 Blade Base model with the RTX 2070 Max-Q last week, they are going for pretty good prices right now since the RTX 30 models are out. I really love the thing, one of the big standouts for me is how easy it is to travel with. I travel for work pretty frequently and it's always been hassle to bring my gaming laptops with me, the size, weight, and the stunningly horrible battery life even in mundane tasks. The Blade is small, light weight, and I can get 4+ hours out of the battery and then when I get to the hotel I can plug in and play AAA titles. Of course, the clean aesthetics are also a big plus for me, it just looks quality. That being said, I do agree with you, it has it's place and it's not for everyone, there are a lot of other good laptops out there.

Hey Guys. I bought the 2020 advanced model. It does almost nothing perfectly but almost everything really well. This is in my opinion a jack of all trades machine. The thermals are solid on my device; I've never gone above 82 degrees even after a couple hours of non stop gaming. Also the keyboard feels good and has a stealthy sound. The lighting is nice as well. Probably not a good purchase if it is used purely for gaming. Also, I haven't noticed any fan noise when on battery. Also, you can turn optimus off after a reboot. I think it's worth the money if you're comfortable with it. TL;DR: Not the best purchase for a pure gaming notebook but great for playing games and doing everything else you would want from a laptop.
Hey Dave thanks for the review. I recently ordered the 2020 advanced with the2080 s maxq I'm always hearing about razers price and was very confused as to why. In my research to buy a new laptop I looked at several same or similarly spec devices and heres what I found Msi gs66 2999.99 Aorus 15g 2999.99 Alienware 3959.99 Asus zephyrus s15 2999.99 My razer was 2999.99 Exact same prices across the board excluding Alienware. So why is the perception so off. Is it marketing or are people not comparing same specs or looking at lower tear devices? Just seems odd that everyone says razer is priced higher.
Towards the high-end, their prices do start to match their competition, but for the “lower-end” you can get better performance for less. Razer doesn’t seem to want to compromise on their premium features, but they come with a price premium as well. At the end of the day, it depends on how much you value those features
You are not comparing the lower tear models... no one is going to buy a 2080 right off the back .. razer 1660ti price is way to high msi & asus prices are much lower you can get a 2060 for 1500 where as razer you spending a whopping 2000-2500 .
@@Jin17104 I did. This was my first laptop purchase since the 90's. I get that not everyone has 3k to drop. All I was saying is the advanced seems to be in-line with the other higher end products. As well as the 17 the base may be a different story. I didn't shop it
Just got one a week ago! I've been looking to get a razer for about a year and following dave for a bit longer than that. Dave is absolutely right that it depends on each person's situation and needs. I already had a 144hz 2k 27in monitor for high fps games (overwatch etc). So my top 3 must have list came down to performance, mercury white and room for storage. I went with the base 2020 mercury white oled (the screen is stunning & bright). With performance I think the 2070max-q is still really good. I can 4k game on my screen and immerse myself in how good Los Santos looks in GTA 5 (on very high with some extra field of view and shadows turned on) and get a smooth 60fps (4k). With my razer 2020 base oled hooked up to my 144hz monitor I get over 144fps on high tweaked or medium in Overwatch, it feels really smooth. Dave is right with his previous videos about fast fps games, you aren't stopping to appreciate the lighting and shadow effects of a tree. You may in games like GTA V, RDR2 and others. Regarding storage, I got a second 2tb drive so I can actually have room for all the games, having that second slot was really important to me because of this. The fit and finish is great (my first razer and it was a bit of a woaaah in person) and I don't think I'll ever tire of how it looks and feels. To be fair because it is an OLED it does drain the battery life quicker and that's fine for a few hours of unplugged mixed use but I planned on plugging in for games anyways. I did also purchase the best buy 3 year warranty. Thank you Dave, your reviews have helped me explore the world of gaming laptops better.
@@vsqs-gtawindowsanddoorsrep672 The razer blade is known for crashing and bricking itself after like a year or so, so you're better off not buying it. Besides, we're not comparing these laptops to the razer blade, its not like people are oblivous to specs.

Have the 2019 mercury white model. They are just the best do it all machine in my opinion. Decent battery, good screen, good power, good looks can do pretty much anything you ask and will age well. Plan to keep mine for 5 years. At an average cost of $500 a year its well worth it. Then again I use my laptop for like 6 hours a day
I have the 2019 model with the RTX 2080 and it's a beast. Being able to play every game on ultra is pretty awesome to have on a mobile. Mine gets pretty hot though, sadly I don't think mine is undervolted from the factory. I've been thinking about doing it to see if I can get a few temps back.

I recently ordered the 2020 advanced with the2080 s maxq
I'm always hearing about razers price and was very confused as to why. In my research to buy a new laptop I looked at several same or similarly spec devices and heres what I found
Msi gs66 2999.99
Aorus 15g 2999.99
Alienware 3959.99
Asus zephyrus s15 2999.99
My razer was 2999.99
Exact same prices across the board excluding Alienware. So why is the perception so off. Is it marketing or are people not comparing same specs or looking at lower tear devices? Just seems odd that everyone says razer is priced higher.
I thought so too, I guess the specs aren't quite matching up? *shrugs*
Towards the high-end, their prices do start to match their competition, but for the “lower-end” you can get better performance for less.
Razer doesn’t seem to want to compromise on their premium features, but they come with a price premium as well. At the end of the day, it depends on how much you value those features
@@AndreiTache this makes sense, thanks
I'm fine with my lenovo T460 that I grabbed for 300 bucks.
