I pulled the trigger on getting last year‘s model (‘21 blade 14 w/ 3080) through Best Buy (Open Box Excellent Condition) for $1,400. Was worried about it being too good to be true but thought I could just return it if I didn’t like it. Well it was basically brand new, everything in the original packaging and NO minor scratches or dents. Literally brand new. Have been super content with my purchase since then and feel blessed. Will be holding on to this one for a LONG time lol.

I love razer, but I had to send in my razer blade 3 times within the year for warranty replacement. 1 for hissing noise when plugged in....another for MOBO replacement and the last one because it got so hot the laptop warped and would pivit on every desk.... I just...I like them but never again.

If razer did the 15 and 17 models with ryzen processors, they would be a must-buy, just imagine a not so thick, good-looking laptop, high tdp and good battery life. But they seek only performance on the top models, so they go with intel for that 8% or so difference between the amd and intel.

So I got the 2021 blade 14 with the 3060 last year and I couldn’t be happier with the machine. Even on a 3060 it is a little beast. Locked fps on halo infinite. 144fps on ori. 93fps on Fortnite at max graphics. Jedi fallen order a locked 60fps at max graphics. Which for my needs is more than enough. Some people might want higher fps than that but I’m happy with mine

Had a HP Omen 15 R7/RTX3070 up until it took a tumble down the stairs. Was nice for a first gaming laptop, for a replacement I ended up getting a 2021 Blade 14 R9/RTX3080. While the performance difference is negligible for my use case, the metal chassis, screen, and the trackpad are leagues ahead of the Omen. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The only thing I regret is not getting the 3070 model and using the extra for a nice monitor and peripherals, since the (at the time) 700/800 euro difference was so not worth it. Out of the box the battery life isn't so good(~3 hours) however after tweaking a load of settings and having battery saver always on when not plugged in, it easily gets (a reported by windows) 6+hrs battery life for browsing, video streaming, and whatnot. Only gripe is that I can't use the 3080 on battery power, it's not something I need often but sometimes I do have the urge to game on a train ride from work. Could be something to do with my aforementioned tweaks however not a massive issue for me.
Only thing I felt was a little better on the Omen was the ability to upgrade ram and more key travel on the keyboard. However I've gotten used to the razer keyboard, really I think of it as a windows gaming machine in a MacBook Pro like chassis (reminiscent of the MacBook Pro 13" 2016 I had a couple years ago). I've already upgraded the SSD to 2tb, lack of ram upgradability is a little annoying but I can live with it

I ordered this laptop after having the 17" Blade with the RTX 3080Ti graphics. I returned that laptop for the 2022 Blade 14 QHD, RTX 3070Ti model. In the real world (gaming), the experience is so much better, in terms of practicality and performance. I actually want to take this one with me and game on the go. The 17" felt cumbersome every time I took it out of my house. The Blade 14 is an incredible machine. Worth the price for the build quality and overall experience.

For most product, that 'apple' premium for example on most devices isn't worth it. But, I have to say over had the blade 15 and the g15 and the blade is leagues above, to the point it's worth the premium for me.
I thought the g15 2022 was really nice when I got it, definitely a step up from an omen or a Acer nitro or something like that.
But when I got the blade 14 in my hands afterwards, my god it makes everything else feel shite. It's the only laptop I've ever had, and I've had a few different premium laptops, that's the same build quality as a MacBook. It's lovely.

It's kinda crazy it starts at $3500 for the 3080ti model. My whole desktop setup cost over $1000 cheaper.
    I just built a PC a few weeks back with a 3080ti FE, a $200 11700k, ASUS Prime z590-M, 32gb ram, 2tb gen 4 NVME, a 240mm AIO for the CPU in a $75 Cooler Maser case, for a bit under $2k. Then $125 for a used 144hz 1440p Dell monitor. I cheaped out on a keyboard and mouse. I game with my $40 8Bitdo Pro 2 controller.

G14 has slightly better screen for non-gaming chores due to 8:5 AR in use... It also offers half-upgradable RAM... That's 50% better than what Razer and Apple offer. Still, even though Apple also uses non-user-replacable RAM, at least they're offering the opton to get higher capacities on day one... OK, maybe 64+GB might be an overkill currently for the target use-cases this is heralded to fulfill, but at least offering the Blade 14 in a 32GB higher speed RAM variant would have made more sense... Maybe let users/consumers decide which version they'd opt for - a >=32GB variant with JEDEC spec or say a 16GB but actually heavily overclocked DRAM - they do promote themselves as having engineering expertise of highest calibre, they should be capable of engineering such a unique 14-incher product stack. Heck, I wonder if Razer could even get AMD support to build "AMDvantage" solution in the 14-inch format, to further rival current G14s, whilst improving on the energy efficiency and heat management...

Edit:Graphics cards arent 2k(only the 3090ti is) And being generous to blade 14, at best it might compete with a 3060ti desktop. Thats a $380 card, a custom or prebuilt price would be 1-1.5k. Anything with a desktop 3070 or better would outperform this latop and still be significantly cheaper.

My Razer blade 14 Laptop arrived with a hole in the screen and dead pixels which Best Buy was willing to exchange but denied by Razer. After arguing for days an RMA approved for repair at Ingram micro in Arizona who shipped the laptop back to me with a completely dead screen. Outsourced and awful tech support and very poor quality control. I have owned computers for over 33 years and this is by far my worst experience. Don’t believe paid reviewers on RUclips or elsewhere the hype is real on poor service and build quality. Avoid at all costs if possible. I would not recommend this product or company to anyone unless you feel enjoy like you have been robbed of $2500 plus dollars

Razer is notorious for having mark ups on thesir products simply because of the name, not just build quality. I'd rather save myself the $1k and buy an Asus, IF I were in the market for a gaming laptop. For $3k, I'd rather build a gaming desktop.

I picked up the 2021 model with RTX 3070 and 5900HX for significantly cheaper (almost half the price of the 2022 model) so I think I got the best of both worlds here and will definitely consider upgrading when the new Zen 4 7000 series CPUs are here (apparently having MUCH better performance-per-watt and power efficiency).

Razer is just too expensive for most all their products, and the quality for a long time has been hit, and miss, so I just avoid their products, and look for better values like used Lenovo Thinkpads, and ONN/Nokia Android tablets paired with Logitech K480 bluetooth keyboard.

The blade 17 with the 3070 and 11th gen is the best laptop I've ever used, I returned it for the new 3080 ti model that cost more and I'm honestly just going to go back to it. It was basically perfect for me. Is there cheaper Aorus/ROG/MSI models? Sure. Are they the same experience as that Blade 17? Absolutely not. The build quality, the screen and speakers and as said the whole EXPERIENCE is just better. Especially considering the used market on these machines shaves off a few hundred $$$.

    • @ultimategohan1551
      @ultimategohan1551 2 года назад

The only thing the blade 17 has over other similar priced 17 inch laptops is the build quality and form factor, thats it. Other cheaper laptops(still 2 to 3k) can compete in every other area.
