" I bought this small underpowered car to save on gas"
" I hate this car because it's underpowered and small! They cheated me I'll never buy again!"
Which car?
Exactly. All these people aspire to buying larger luxury vehicles but are stuck buying what they can afford.

Just imagine when those money pits start falling apart right after the warranty expires.
It's hilarious that many complaints are things that buyers would be able to know before even buying the car.
That’s the result of people falling into the trap of salespersons.
Consumer Reports has always offered reliability reports on cars and trucks several times a year and in detail in their once-a-year car issue; check it out before you buy and you won't be sorry.
@@nawazrumjaun8239 Not all by a long shot. Stuff like lack of space in a backseat would be evident to anyone who bothered to look.
I had an Ecosport as a rental for a few days and I have no idea how someone could spend 5 minutes in that thing and still consider buying it. I couldn't come up with a single redeeming attribute.
@@thatboydc660 That's exactly how I felt about a Jeep Compass rental around 2015. I would have returned it immediately had I needed it for more than a day.
The first thing to consider when reading owner reviews is that people are stupid. They buy a 1.5L micro crossover with a constant velocity trans and then complain about no acceleration. I love the ones who complain about the styling. Well, it looked good enough for you to buy it, right? What changed since then? If you KNOW what you are buying, you probably will not be dissapointed.
Yup, most people never look into the mechanicals only to complain about the mechanicals.
In 1970 my friend was hired by GM to engineer a material for their seats that would wear out in 5 to 10 years. They hired others to do the same with other vehicle parts. Today, unfortunately, planned obsolescence is a major part of vehicle designing for most auto-makers. Substituting plastic for metal is just one example.
Appliances, too. Our new (best buy) dishwasher failed in less than four years. Our previous dishwasher was in the house when we bought it in 2000. It was older than that, and lasted 20 years while we had it. Most everything made now is made for failure. You can switch brands, but....good luck.
Yes, cars and appliances, are not made to last as long as the older models of earlier years. Why ? They need you to come in and buy more often. Automotive manufacturers, make their units to where you have to return to dealer service for repairs. The service dept. Is where the dealerships operating expense is covered. I know, I was a service mngr for one.. Nissan quality " fell apart ", when they changes from Datsun to Nissan. It is a shame of their downfall .
I agree with CR's findings, there is some real sorry made autos out there.
You can't buy a compact suv and expect a full size suv
💯 The same people who change their oil once every ten years and then call the car a piece of junk.

Used Mazda CX5 owner here, very satisfied. 28-32mpg, great power great options, reliable as hell, affordable and roomy.
Me too. Interior is also a lot nicer than competition.
I love my 2022 CX5. Might be the best auto I’ve ever purchased
Same
Yeah, your comments coming from a dealership.
Really? I have an '18 CX-5 too. Fairly reliable, but only gets 23-24 MPG, and I baby it because it's not very quick, so why waste the gas? Nice sounding Bose stereo, but it's VERY quirky along with anything else controlled by the main computer (LOTS of error messages which fortunately clear after shutting down and letting it reset itself). Lots of sqeaks and rattles after only 35K miles and it's very top heavy too. It gets me around (for now), but I wouldn't be too keen on buying another Mazda in the future. But maybe that's just my bad luck. Should have known better, CR likes Mazda's... See what CR says, and then do exactly the opposite!
I can understand that reliability issues only surface later and the buyers won’t know until down the road but other things like driving characteristics, performance and space should have been considered when testing and buying a new car. I can’t buy a studio unit move my 5 person family in then complain it’s crammed.
Was just about to write exactly this.

@@vicariousjohnson9823my 2017 Elantra I bought new just turned 100.000 miles last week. Fully loaded with everything, it has been flawless, 0 repairs, 0 issues! And there isn't anything that needs attention. Only things that have been replaced are tires, and 2 batteries. I had the transmission serviced at 50.000, due again now, coolant serviced, brake pads are original, and still don't need replacement. Runs like new, and uses no oil. Car was 21.000 and change new.

Best car I've ever owned: 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara with manual transmission. I owned it for just over 10 years and when I went to buy a new one I was told Suzukis were no longer being sold in the US. I lived in Alaska the whole time I owned that car and it never failed me. Got me through massive blizzards and drove the sandy beaches at the mouth of the Kenai river, never getting stuck while "reliable" cars like Subarus and Jeeps were belly down in the sand. Please come back, Suzuki. I'll buy one the second you return (as long as manual transmission is still an option).
Suzuki is planning a return though they'll only offer electric vehicles
I visited the Philippines last month. They have lots of Suzuki vehicles in there. I enjoyed the ride and fuel economy.
If only they have those in Saipan, I'd definitely get one of those Suzukis.
Electric cars in Alaska are not gonna do so well
Never will buy a Suzuki, not because it is a bad car, after all, it is Japanese, so pretty reliable.........No, the problem I have with Suzuki is that I once was at a dealership with my wife to buy a new car, we didn't want an expensive car, for us it was not important since we didn't drive a lot, so we were looking for the base model at the entry level..........after a lot of talking I said "okay, we will think it over"......to which the seller replied: "yes, maybe it is better to save a few more cents"......Little did he know that my wife at the time alone made more than a 100.000 a year, we could have bought one new car of that type every MONTH if we wanted to.........perhaps it was only that we wore jeans at the time........However, being this kind of insulting to a customer has put me off Suzuki for the rest of my life! Am a very happy Mitsubishi driver now for many years, and no, not the cheapest model!!
@@SuperDutchjohn That's very unfortunate that you got treated like this. Not trying to defend Suzuki, but I doubt the company shares the same attitude as that punk who said this to you.
Most people looking for a small SUV or a cross over would probably be happier with a well designed/built hatchback.
Industry be like: "But people want more SUVs right?"
The mazda 3 hatchback is the best and most affordable HB anyone can buy
I'd be happy with a well designed hatchback or sport wagon. Unfortunately... the market fights hard for SUVs and CUVs.
The only reason I bought an SUV instead of a hatchback is road clearance. Due to knee and mobility issues, I need a vehicle higher off the ground than standard cars. Unfortunately, my choice of Subaru Forrester had become more of a family vehicle, giving up more valuable luggage space for more room for the back seat. If the back seat folded down better, it would be less of an issue.
@@JoseDiaz-qw7mg I've had my Mazda 3 hatchback for about 2 weeks now and I love it
Worst car was my daughter's 2018 Ford Escape. At 5k miles the engine was replaced under warranty. At 80k miles the transmission went out and the dealer wanted 9k to replace. The saving grace was it was totaled during the car shortage and she was able to buy a RAV4.
Yeah....the engine issue in those wasn't corrected until late 2019
What does it mean to be "totaled during the car shortage." That makes no sense to me.
@@boxsterman77 Car was totaled. It was in 2022 when there was a shortage of used cars. Right before this, the KBB value was 10-12k. During the shortage when it was totaled and insurance paid out 20k.
You can’t go wrong with Toyota/Lexus.
@u4riahsc You can, but it is rarity.
When they say they don't like the design or interior, it makes one wonder why they bought it in the first place. I only buy a car after test driving and really having a good look at it to make sure I like it outside and in. I also do a bit of research first by asking owners what hey think of the car now that they have bought one regrading reliability etc.
Worst car I ever owned was a Land Rover smaller SUV, bought new. Major engine problems at 66k miles, and maintenance requirements completed on schedule. Best cars I’ve ever owned were by Lexus. We’ve had four over the course of twenty years, leased one and owned three, (bought used). All very comfortable, good acceleration, very reliable and well appointed. And I would definitely buy again.
Yeah that’s what happens. Sell at 50k.
Any mechanic who has served in REME (Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers) could tell you they deliberately make Land Rovers crap so that the rookie mechanics have something to do!!!
Don’t forget that you need to buy 2 Land Rovers. One to drive while the other is in the shop.
I love my 2018 Toyota Corolla XLE. Purchased it in the summer of 2018 in Anchorage, AK. Drove it 15,000 miles per year in Alaska and in 2022 drove it to Texas. No problems ever - but I do keep up with scheduled maintenance schedule.
My first car was a 1974 Caprice fully loaded. The only thing it couldn't pass was a gas station. I miss that car.
Hysterical!😂
My first car was a caprise classic as well. You are right about the gas station. 12 mpg going 55mph or 100mph. I tried both and yup 12mpg.
Nice cars.
Having had a car I ended up being unsatisfied with I can say not everything is revealed in a test drive. Such as miserably uncomfortable driving seat on a long trip, visibility issues that seemed fine on the test drive but in real driving become an issue, road noise, you just can't tell everything from a test drive. As far as reliability goes I always look up lots of reviews and owner forums, I don't think everybody does or some of those cars wouldn't be selling well.
Most of these complaints are a result of not paying attention during the test drive
I'm honestly surprised that's how I felt. I feel like the worst one at spot number one didn't deserve the number one spot. The vehicles with engine problems now that deserves number 1 spot
Exactly. We were going to get our daughter a Toyota C-HR, but after my husband test drove it , he didn’t like it for every reason mentioned on this video. We bought her a Corolla instead.

It's your life and your decision however the reason why I went for a newer vehicle is because of safety. But I pray that you never get into a serious accident and that God upholds you.
Key to reliability is regular service and maintenance. Many skip these basics and expect cars to run smoothly forever.
Exactly, right? I had a female colleague says her car sluggish but turns out, she never inflate her tires. She says this been taken care during car service which is every 6 months. I almost wanted to yell at her that tires needs to be inflated at least once a month.
We’re not talking about reliability. Some cars can be reliable but not fun and satisfying to drive.
I have a cousin who does nothing in the way of routine maintenance and then can’t figure out why they burn through cars every 3-4 years. She basically treats a car like a vessel to get her from point A to point B. She and her husband will go 8-10K miles between oil changes and the thought of keeping it clean doesn’t exist in their world.
Yes, I agree with you. Maintenance is key. I still have my 2005 Mercury Mountineer with nearly 200,000 miles, and it still performs great.
Nah, I deal with cars all day long and best brand is Toyota , anything else is garbage, specially domestic cars
With report lists like these, I always remember that over 75% of drivers don’t keep up with their car’s scheduled maintenance. So anything that has to do with cosmetic stuff is purely driver error.
Is that an actual fact??? That’s wild. That’s terrible for anyone reading thinking about getting a used car 🙏🏻

My wife has a 2018 Chevy Trax and we got a great deal when new, probably about 85-90k miles now and has never been back to the dealer or in the shop for anything besides oil changes and a couple tire pressure monitors to get that annoying light off the dash. Still on the original brake pads! Will probably trade it in at 100k miles since we don't keep cars too far past that mark but it's been a very good car.
Cheap is the key word. Most of these people with buyers remorse over these shit vehicles is because they almost always overpay for what the car is worth.
@@robsp32 Exactly! If all of the listed cars were 50% off, then the CR list would be very different
You're one in 7 billion dufus!
People need to do their research and read reviews plus test drive the car before purchase. Not just go because it’s a cheapest option or because it looks cool or it’s a trend! It's a result of the obsession with eco-tech that ironically doesn't even result in better fuel economy anymore. I mean take a look at the Infiniti, despite moving to a 2.0L turbo 4 and CVT people report worse fuel economy than they had with the previous generation's 3.7L V6 and 7 speed automatic. CR manufactured the Suzuki Samuri rollover issue out of spite (exec at CR's child died in a crash in one) , they killed the brand and only paid a few $Million in the civil suit , should have been criminal. CR's ok if you're buying a toaster but they're not good at judging value.

the only thing the CR magazine is good for is when I run out of toilet paper.
CR kept recommending Subaru, which had a problem for many many years with blown head gaskets . Once it hit 75-80K , they would blow. At that time GM wanted $7K for a new trans, GM offered no help. I opted for one out of a junkyard for $3500 and traded it in immediately. I never purchased a GM product again. The Qashqai is the best seller in Britain. I'm very pleased with mine. Yes, I would buy again.
A seven-speed DCT? Wow. Huge improvement over a CVT. I do think that anything past seven starts to get stupid. My car is an automatic and I hate when I am cruising about, not on the highway and it drops all the way to 7. If I need power quickly I have to mat the throttle.

I have a 2016 Q70 AWD with 68K miles, bought it when it was 1 year old. I’m still happy with it. Wish it got better MPGs but I knew that going into it. It was kind of a dated platform even when new, but as it gets older that matters less! I like the looks, the comfort, and the handling.
When shopping for a new car I always sit in the back seat first. If it's too small I go for a different model.
Why in the world would you do this? You don’t drive from the back seat. While you are at it, why not also sit in the trunk?
I never care about the backseat. I have 2 teenaged boys in the house and I feel like the less-accommodating the backseat the less likely they'll want to borrow my car and do the things I did to their mom in my dads backseat before they were born (1994 Dodge Intrepid, HUGE backseat lol).
CH-R has been discontinued in the US & Canada for 2023.
Good riddance to the C-HR! _(2/21/2023)_
It was originally a Scion model, before Toyota killed off the Scion brand
I drive Honda all the way! Its not let me down so far. But, its getting so that they need to put in more thought into their vehicles. I have a blind spot and it sometimes hard to adjust to it in heavy traffic. I have accomodated by buying a really BIG rear view mirror. The new cars-ARE THE SAME WAY!! You would thing someone would have caught that long ago but not yet!???Wow. I drive them till 100,000 miles then trade them in. Never any problems but that.
Very happy with my Infiniti Q50 S, I love the responsive engine, it's a joy to drive. The Dunlop runflat tyres are not the best but once you change them over it is a very fine motorcar.
My wife loves her 2022 Infiniti Q50 Luxe. I do also. This car has a conventional automatic transmission and the engine has plenty of power. The infotainment system is nice and responsive and we find the twin screen system is easy to use and makes good sense as we just use the top screen with Android Auto and use the bottom screen for controls. I think most reviewers simply haven't been paid by Infiniti to provide good reviews. The pricing they showed was for the higher end models, the Luxe is a great bargain and still has leather seats while most competing models are upholstered with plastic.
Don’t be butthurt just because a majority of people who own the same car you do don’t like it.
i have a 2019 Q50 2.0t awd and for the most part i like it. only complaints i have is it's over priced for the segment, the tech is way outdated but serviceable. i dont rely on it to drive so not much of a loss. and it has a bit too much body roll in tighter turns. fit and finish is top notch. no squeaks or rattles, interior doesn't feel cheap, still looks great on the outside. 7sp transmission so you don't have that mashed potato feel of a cvt. awd handles the weather like a champ(as long as you don't drive like an idiot). overall i'm pleased with my purchase.
It’s a great car. But it really surprises me how the Q50 ir more popular than the Q60. The Q60 is a real head turner.
@@jz7551 for not too much more you can get a bmw, mercedes, or genesis that has better almost everything, especially tech, but looks(imo). and they cancelled the Q60, 2022 is the last model year.
Most new cars today are not worth the large sums of money consumers have to pay. So, if you purchase a new car expect not to get your monies worth of an excellent car. There is no perfect car but, very few come close to being excellent and to find out which ones come close to perfect, you need to explore all the makes and models. Good Luck!
I bought a new mid size truck less than 2 years ago for 42k, that exact same truck is $6k more now in less than 2 years. I can't imagine buying a new one again now.
I got a few over 400,000 on my Lexus LX. It had the most comfortable ‘furniture’ I’ve ever owned.
I really like my Forte. Haven’t had any problems with it. I’m not a huge fan of the seats but then again I am a big and tall guy
Have to agree with most of these, except with the last one. The CH-R is a hidden gem, Some say it's a 'glorified Corolla, which is a plus, cause it's more versatile and just as reliable, not to mention it's good looks. I'd take one. The rest are near garbage, for sure.
I have a CHR for five years now. I dont have anyone to ride in the back seat so that is not a problem. Glad to own a Toyota as they are reliable. I like mine.
Yeah it makes no sense that it made number one in this list.
Sounds like your Toyota fanboyism is showing hard. They surveyed actual owners. People who bought them and drive them every day. Not sideliners that think "oh it looks good, I'd take it." The car is slammed in almost every review you can find, and over 70% of people surveyed wouldn't buy it again. The badge on the front does not mean it's a good car. It's a Turkish-built POS, plain and simple. Not up to typical Toyota standards at all.
@@jeffb.6642 Wrong, We have 2 Hondas and a BMW 4 series..
What is the advantage of that over the Rav4? The Rav4 is bigger and still gets better highway mileage. I looked at the CHR but couldn't come up with any reason to get it over the RAV4.
Imagine walking on the lot, and saying “that’s the new car for me!” and it’s a Jeep Renegade
😂😂😂😂 dying I love me a jeep but it wouldn't EVER be that
A neighbor bought 2 of them
In Europe, Nissan Rogue(Qashqai)and Toyota CH-R are in the first 10 best selling cars for years...
Can’t speak about the Infiniti Q50 but I bought a Q60 Luxe 6 months ago and just love everything about it except the small trunk space. Performance, comfort and quality are all first-rate. It has the same infotainment system which I agree is more complicated than it needs to be, but in a short time I got used to it and now its a snap to use.
I have the Q50 RS400 and I don't know what they're talking about with the entertainment system. Takes 15 minutes to figure out, just like every new car. I find teh seats are too hard and unergonomic. That's my only complaint
Unsurprisingly my worst was a Jeep! 4 motors in 40,000 miles!
I must have gotten lucky. I got 14 years out of 1 engine on my 2004 Jeep Liberty. 140k+ miles.
I had an EcoSport as a rental car for a week. I drove it a lot and I really hated it. I'm 6 foot 1 and I couldn't find a comfortable driving position. It was brutal after a couple hours. I don't expect much from rental cars but it was the worst rental I've ever had.
Ford no longer makes or sells the Ecosport. In fact, the Ecosport factory has been shut down.
I rented the ecosport’s larger cousin - the Escape for a day. Hated every second of it. If I wanted a 3 cylinder, I’d get a Geo Metro
My 19yo Great Granddaughter's first vehicle. She's still driving it but she's 5' 2". Mostly local driving. It serves her purposes until she has the funds to upgrade. However with the prices of today's offerings one needs to make big bucks to get into these unless one pays cash. She's looking at a Kia Soul but unfortunately they're high demand vehicles here in FL and this is a terrible state to purchase a vehicle in. I told her to research out of state. That means sell her vehicle privately and fly out to drive it back. I recently purchased mine and never saw the dealership however I paid cash.
Thanks for the report. Now we can't say we were not warned.
I own a 2013 Infiniti Ex37 (older qx50) i lack on cargo space BUT i got that 5.3second 0-60 time! AND i love taking corners! Wish they still were this mechanically good with newer infotainment, styling, accents etc.
I have the C-HR and I love it. I researched before I bought and checked reviews. I went into it knowing everything about the car so I wasn’t disappointed or caught off guard.
My mom has a C-HR. It is a perfectly capable small family car.
It's a car that when you have the proper expectations is pretty good for the price.
Love my chr. Exactly what I need
I have one too, my spec is AWD with turbo motor and is full of tech. It's a fun small car and economical and capped price servicing is very reasonable. Guess depends which market and spec you buy one in.
Ditched our C-HR for Honda HR-V …. So much better!
What is the advantage of that over the Rav4? The Rav4 is bigger and still gets better highway mileage. I looked at the CHR but couldn't come up with any reason to get it over the RAV4.
The worst car by far that I have ever owned was a Buick Encore! The dealer along with GM couldn't have cared less if I was satisfied or not. That was my first and last GM
My 16 had oil and coolant leak at the turbo. A week later water pump failed all at 57 thousand miles. I traded it in for a Lexus Rx 350. We will see how that works out 😂
Yup, we bought one for my wife a few years back to use for transporting daycare kids to and from school. That thing had so many electrical issues and overheating issues, that we traded it in on a Dodge Durango and took a loss on what we owed. Drove that Dodge for years without an issue.
I have a 2019 Forte Ex Launch Edition and couldn't be happier with an automobile.
Bought it new in August of 2019, today I have 108,000 miles on it and haven't had a single issue. Hoping to take it to 250,000-300,000 miles.
so informative thanks for this video
worst car was an 80's VW Rabbit diesel, engine gave up at 80k miles, unacceptable lack of power unless driving 50 mph or less, highway driving was downright dangerous, any kind of uphill grade on hwy you're an obstacle for other drivers and you think it's going to be a wreck any second
Yes, I worked at a VW dealership when the 1981 Rabbit diesel was new. It had only 52 horspower. But gas was very expensive and interest were very high, so customers couldn't wait to trade their V8 American cars for one of them. Tough times!
@@meadowsmydog the reason I ended up with it, my father in law got a new car to commute with about the time my work car was going down so in a way it was good to keep me from having to find a car and I was not ready right then to do that. so it was a good thing in the end it was my life boat until I could do better. at the time he bought it new I told him he would regret it and he was sucked in by the mpg. he later told me he should have listened to me and got a Honda😀
I agree on the cadillac suv and infiniti that it is true tbh. But for the others I don’t, they are cheap transportation what do you expect? 0-60 in 5 seconds and 120 mpg?
Had a 2014 infiniti q50 bought it used around 2016 for 19k. Put about 70k miles on it and sold it last year for 13.5k. Best car ive ever had and actually made me money. Its a tragic how infiniti q50s interior is almost still the same...
Totally disagree on the CHR. I've had one over 6 years and 80k miles. It is truly awesome of a ride and I would definitely buy it again. I have not changed tires or brakes yet. I never had any repairs on it... Just maintenance.... It is also extremely economical. I highly recommend this car. Cheers
❤
I love your videos. My worst car was a 2000 Kia Sephia. But I also really regret my 2017 Jeep renegade. There is no pick and go. The moon trod stopped opening up. The ignition button went thru the steering column and the motor is loud inside. Also I have transmission problems but the dealership says they don’t feel the motor jump when test driving it. But I do.
I meant to say moon roof
Coming from a GM ONLY family, I purchased a 2018 Kia Sorento with the V6. It’s the BEST car I’ve ever owned! Smooth comfortable driving, it accelerates like a rocket!
I bought a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, 4 cyl. I LOVE IT! It has plenty of pep, gets decent mileage, drinks regular gas and is fun to drive. Our two big dogs love the room in the back. It has over 145k miles and still runs great on its Michelins! (I looked at the Trax... ugh! ) I probably won't buy a new one; Chevy shrunk the room in the back. WORST car I owned was a Ford Fairmont wagon: added a quart of oil at every fillup!
I bought a brand new Jeep Renegade. At the 3 year mark the transmission went despite regular maintenance. I had an extended warranty that cost me 3 grand but still had to pay over 1 grand out of pocket to replace the transmission. Never again.
My partner has banned me from ever purchasing another Jeep, unfortunately i have to agree ... On the day i traded the last one (Grand Cherokee Overland) it lost all lighting in the dash cluster and all the gauges stopped working, it still drove but you had no idea of what was going on, no speedo, no nothing and to add insult to injury no power windows, no radio, no aircon ... just a lot of guesswork, when the dealership valued the hunk of crap, everything was working ... i expected them to give me the keys and tell me to gtfo, i was pretty amazed that everything had 'fixed itself' ...
Just Empty Every Pocket, i hated that phrase for being prophetically accurate.
Yea, I'm surprised they didn't include the Chrysler 200 on that list. I worked for Enterprise for a while and your same issues came up every so often.
My biggest complaint is the marked up price that listed by the US dealer in US still not line up with the value received by the customer! I began to look and compare the price and value of OEM Japanese car in Japan with Japanese manufactured and I was shocked to find that there are so much different in value between US made model (outsourced to cheap labor country) VS Japanese manufactured both used and new car.
JDM and USDM models of the "same" car are different. That would account for some of the price difference. You are free to buy a car from Japan and import it to the US - if it meets US requirements.

Damn, the XT4 looks sick in all black.
If you buy a car only because you like the way it looks, or because a friend has one, you deserve what you get.
With the internet there is no excuse for not doing your own research and knowing what you’re buying beforehand.
Many people buy a car without doing a test drive, or after only a 5 minute test drive, as well.
I bought 2018 Subaru outback limited 3.6*it’s a good car. I’m proud of it reliable serve me well if I was buying I will buy the second one with my eyes close. By the way, this one it’s second already for me so I will buy the third one. Good job Subaru.
Wow the CHR? We bought one and love it. And it has more tech than my lexus🤣
❤
I'm glad I was able to purchase a 2005 Jeep Liberty with the diesel option.
The Liberty has truck grade differentials and transmission. It is rated to pull a 5000 pound trailer so I knew it was a tough vehicle before I bought it. I confess it does not ride as smooth as my friends Grand Cherokee but it turns really sharp so parking is a breeze. I owned a 2002 Liberty first. It rarely got 18 miles per gallon never quite made 19. The diesel version frequently gets 22 even in all wheel drive. In cool weather, no A/C and windows up, it gets close to 28 frequently. The diesel is a bit noisier but not horribly so, it has lots of insulation with a thick valve cover and a pad under the hood. The vehicle now has 275,000 miles and starts and runs extremely well. I've replaced two alternators but the factory starter is still in service. What amazes me most is the transmission. As a teen in 1960 automatic transmission were lucky to make it to 60,000 without a rebuild. Mine has been serviced at about every 80,000 miles with fluid and filter and has not needed any adjustments or repairs. It has a heavy duty transmission and came with synthetic fluid which is what was used at every service. All of the lubricants are synthetic. I like that the power steering and trans mission both use ATF+4.
I had it ziebart treated and plan to keep repairing it till I can no longer drive.
Rented a diesel Jeep Renegade with a manual transmission in Europe. Drove it from Paris and all over Normandy to Juno Beach. Thought it was ugly but I loved driving it! Much more torque than a similarly equipped diesel VW Toureg.
We are still using our 2005 Jeep Liberty!
Hi, I am very happy to see that my Ford Escape was not mentioned.
Had a Mercedes Cabriolet for 21 years no problems gave it to my grandson this May …………just purchased the same make and auto 2023
Exceeded my expectations ……… best investment for the money ever…
I thought that I would buy an Ecosport for daughter for college UNTIL I drove it. Horrible ride and noisy. Ended buying new 2020 Escape AWD w Lifetime Powertrain warranty. So far been good car.
1/3-1/2 of young kids end up having a major car accident so safety is number one. They and passengers should wear seatbelts and use a designated driver if going out at night.

@@lovestihlquality1369 Yea it's getting insane lately with the street racing, shows of tire burning, etc and the police letting them do it. From experience I was speaking because the things I did to harm myself were not intentional but happened at times due to my ignorance and lack of technology as the car I totaled hitting a parked car with no hazard lights on was without any airbags (causing brain damage) and my cousin died in a Chevy Suburban rollover(from hitting a cow). In the big picture people need to slow down but speed is fun and horsepower insane these days. Take care 👍
Wooo. Thank goodness I passed on the Toyota CHR and went for the Kia Forte instead. And honestly the Kia Forte isn't THAT bad.
You dodged the #1 to land on #10 cars with most buyers remorse. Still much better better!
I've owned some 25+ cars and driven some more. After 5 Peugeot (504, 305, 309. 405, 406) I bought a Toyota Avensis Diesel, and this has proved to be the best and by far most reliable car ever. with now 180 000 kms no repairs, only regular maintenance and two (!) light bulbs. It's just fantastic in every aspect.
Mk7 Ford Fiesta ST3 owner here, only regret I'll ever have buying this car new, is if I ever sell it!
Good Work! Thanks!!!
LOL, all these cars are the cheapest in their segment. Hope it's a reminder that you get what you pay for.
Corolla is relatively cheaper than civic atleast here in canada but it last way longer than civic
It didn't used to be this bad
Several of these cost well over 40k new, that is NOT cheap
@@xanderunderwoods3363 That was my reaction to the comment of anotheran. There are no cheap cars these days. The cheapest is close to $10,000 more than the civic I bought 13 years ago.
Most of the cars in the video we have in the U.K. under a different name the Worst car I have ever owned was my Nissan Micra 2005 it was never away from the dealership for repairs after 3y over ownership I traded it in for a vw polo 1.4 TDI which was the best car I have ever owed. I now have a 2015 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 diesel which to my Surprised is giving me more mpg in also a lot smoother with having a 4 Cylinder engine
2019 Trax owner here. It's OK but the only real thing that worries me is it's potential lifespan so yes, I am more active in preventative maintenance than I would be if I had been smart and bought a Toyota or Honda.
Once, I had a used Audi Fox 100, I bought at an auction. It had a manual transmission with a ball and socket type linkage under the hood. It mostly would act up at a stop light, and pop out of that connection. I would fly out the door, open the hood, reconnect the linkage, and run back into the car to drive it away. Needless to say I got rid of it fast. I am sure though, that it was a fine car when it was brand new.
No it was never a fine car. They had all sorts of front wheel drive teething issues. The Golf/Rabbit was the first durable fwd VW. They switched from North South to transverse.
Best cars I've ever owned were a 1982 Ford Escort and a 1991 Geo Prizm, both manual transmissions. My husband is still driving his 2005 Buick LeSabre, with 250,000 miles on it. (I'll have to pry it out of his cold dead hands at some point, I'm sure.) I'm currently driving a 2019 Ford Escape I bought new and I've been very happy with it.
You can't beat the simplicity and reliable designs of cars from the early 90's. I got a early 90's Miata, just bare basic spec with 5 speed manual, and it's one of those cars you could drive in a Mad Max setting because there is so little to go wrong with it.
@@mrjohnnyk and that's when manufacturers pushed your government into destroying as many of these cars as possible.
I have a 2003 Buick Regal with the same engine. I like the car, but I do want to go back to a 20-year old Toyota. Miss my old '99 Camry. The new owner loves it.
I had a 98 Regal for several years (and 60k miles)... If it wasn't for the rust belt eating away at every part on the car, I probably would still be driving it today!
What's a manual transmission? LOL J/K but I do miss the days when you could row your own... Jeep Wrangler, a few expensive sports cars, and I think that's about it.
Wow this is perfect. As a mechanic, I agree with this video completely. All the turds I have to fix are on this list. I have to say Jeep and nissan/infiniti are generally nightmares. The trax is a a Daewoo who has yet to make anything good. Surprised to see the chr though. Yet to see one of those. He didn't say anything about their reliability, so I guess that's why. Ppl just hate them for reasons other than reliability I guess.
Noticed that too, and I'll bet their next car is a Rav4. C-HR hooks the buyer with sexy looks but living with it they see it's just too slow, unrefined and cramped. Common complaints I gather.
