Don't be fool'd by the polite tone. This is a fine example of why you should never trust the police. Every interaction should be treated with caution as here they clearly can see and are aware of what he doing, but their line of questioning is not to find out what he is doing, but to see if he is going say something that will allow them to charge him. It's all about making money for the corporation. Once they realized that he was no fool and had them answering their own questions and they soon bowed out.
