      @lwelk273- That is the case for all men, that is why I hire women in my leadership team. I got tired of the men having to run everything through their wives all the time. I started thinking to myself, who the hell did I hire? Him or his damn wife?

    I try to teach humility to all my team members. Some understand it, but others don't get it. They see themselves as someone who can do no wrong and everyone else is to blame. I have fallen prey to this myself on occasion but have gotten much better about it.

      we stay humble! we show appreciation, admit when we are wrong, truly listen and honesty with self and others.. those are often leadership blind spots.

    Everything is negotiation. Sometimes it was so easy that you don't know it was a negotiation, but it was.
    My favorite leadership quote was actually directed at me, "Believe it or not, sometimes you need to listen to someone else." 🤭

    I remember Jocko saying in a recent video, "We're NOT trying to ruin their confidence... that's NOT the idea behind the military training..." So, regarding egotism/egoism, HOW do you strike that delicate balance between NOT ruining someone's CONFIDENCE while NOT acknowledging their strengths?

    • @robertarvanitis8852
      @robertarvanitis8852 3 месяца назад +1

      Not easy. But remember, highways have guardrails on both sides.

    • @elisabeth4342
      @elisabeth4342 2 месяца назад +1

      @@robertarvanitis8852 Does that mean you believe legit individual strengths SHOULDN'T be acknowledged in the real world? I have a feeling that if my gymnastics coaches had acknowledged 'power gymnasts' as having vault and floor/tumbling as their best events, and just how valuable they are in women's competitive/elite gymnastics, I would have taken the scholarship and stayed on the team!! I feel like they were hesitant to possible offend most of the other girls on the team - vaulting is usually the WORST event for many girls.

    • @robertarvanitis8852
      @robertarvanitis8852 2 месяца назад +1

      @@elisabeth4342 Not at all! A good coach, indeed any leader, must make sure the players are neither over-confident NOR too insecure. Guardrails on both sides of the road.

    • @elisabeth4342
      @elisabeth4342 2 месяца назад +1

      @@robertarvanitis8852 Agreed, but we should have been taught the FACTS at that stage. It's ok to categorize the girls into 'power' OR 'artistic' competitive gymnasts at an early age, just like the various classes (levels) we had achieved. No competitive gymnast is overconfident!! We were always training our weaknesses and were critiqued more on every little imperfection!!

    If the b.s. on a job for example started on day 1 it may not necessarily be arrogance in my humble opinion. I think there are alot more variables out there in the working world than some may realize. That being said, I think it's good to do the occasional reality check. I enjoy the info.
    P.s. What guy dont like nice cars? I'll take a wild guess and say I bet you have a high end surf board or two.......be gentle. Haha. Everyone should work hard and have a life enhancer or two.

    Oi Leif Babin? Yee look'n, of eh we bruised ballscak? In the kine of work I did in Rescue? To make a Team Leader? It takes a White belt to learn everything, and black belt learn nothing? Meaning, If yee fail to learn nothing as whit belt, than you fail to learn as a black belt? In Leadership.. it takes a White belt to lead, and a black belt to follow.
