This is life saving information. But as the dad of a 1 year old, this gave me anxiety just watching and learning. Key info you hope to NEVER have to use.
Come back and watch it again? Retraining for the whole family every 6 months. Haha Feeling prepared can help with the anxiety. 🤗
Take a CPR class through the American Heart Association. It will teach you these techniques and more. It also teaches you what to do if the the attempt to remove the object fails and the person goes unresponsive.
Exactly i have toddler grandson. It scares me even to imagine
god keep our children away from this...🙏
@@amitdjp Huh? God has given you common sense and the ability to get trained in the event that one of your children starts choking. Sure you can pray away the possibility but life happens and God doesn't reward willful ignorance. I thank God that I was trained when my mom started choking and I was able to save her.
Instead of watching some stupid prank videos people should watch this video. This video should have millions of views.
💯💯💯
My wife saved our daughters life by knowing how to respond when she had a completely blocked airway whilst eating. She had seconds to respond and we both thank god she had received first aid training. If you have kids, or supervise kids, please learn how to do this.
What was your daughter eating when this happened? I know it can happen with any food, I just want to know 😩
Thanks for sharing! SO glad all is ok. Well done.
thank god all of you are safe and be careful around your babies
What was your baby eating?
Why thank god and not first aid/medical knowledge? He’s just as responsible for allowing it to happen as He is responsible for treating it 🤦♂️
I’m here because my 2 year old choked a couple weeks ago with no sound/no air getting through. Was so traumatizing but I threw him over my shoulder and started pounding his back and his throat cleared thank you Jesus!
She’s so right about staying around your child while they eat, because he was making no sound. If I was in the other room, i wouldn’t have heard and it may have ended badly.
We are so glad that your little one is okay and that you are finding our video useful and reassuring in knowing what to do in a choking emergency, although we hope you don't have to experience it again!
Glad you were there and your child is ok. However don't just rely on this video... go get trained and practice the proper skills. You won't regret it.
Look into the dechoker device. We have one on hand for our kids and one for adults. Could help save a life.
@@sarahs3988 But you do you carry it in the car? To the park? To visit friends? Walmart? It's nice when you have it but you want to know what to do when you don't.
Thank you for sharing. I usually will take a shower or use the restroom while my 2 year old is in the high chair eating. I will not be doing that anymore!
Thank you 🙏 Praying I’ll never need to use it but I will regularly watch this to keep it fresh in my mind x
Fully agree
Uuuyyy
Same here and that's why I'm watching again
I'm not even a mother but u literally never know so it's always good to learn this every school should teach CPR and exc..
whos the father of that baby
I scrolled past this and had a feeling I should watch and refresh myself with the info. Thank you for sharing. This is life saving info for literally anyone. You could see a baby choking in a restaurant and use this knowledge. But most importantly all parents should learn these skills.
Hello how are you doing hope you're safe?
I did the exact same thing!
Same I almost skipped it and was like ugh I can’t
I was like why not, right? 🤷🏾♀️
😊
My daughter was 18mth and choked on a chip. As a preschool teacher of 11yrs, I thank God I had that training over the yrs. You always wonder if you’ll handle that situation well or panic.. I must say, there wasn’t a seconds hesitation. Grabbed her, threw her over my thigh, face towards the floor and began thrusts on her back. She threw up everywhere but I couldn’t have cared less. She’s 3 1/2 now.
I was so glad to hear you say choking can be silent. I’ve told my husband that so much, I would leave the room and ask him to watch her, he would respond “I’m right here”, and that was always my response, “they don’t always make a sound when they choke, Watch Her”.
My 2 year old son almost chocked to death on a lollipop that someone gave him and I did this and it came out this happened yesterday I’m soo shaken up about it still I’m having bad anxiety checked
We are so glad to hear that your son is okay! Well done on knowing what to do - we hope your anxiety settles and you are recovering too
Hope u and ur son are both ok now
Oh mama im so glad he is okay! Well done to you! Plz speak to someone about the anxiety. The more you talk about it the better you will feel x
Which one did you do, the lap or he standing up?
It’s the scariest thing. I’m glad you were able to help your child.
Who else don't live with a baby or children, yet decided to watch this in case we might need it when we encounter a situation wherein a child is choking?
Very helpful.
Omg it’s very useful. My heartbeat was rising while watching this.. may god bless all kids🙏🏻
I have bad panic attacks when ever my daughter is choking I act and help her straight away but I always end up in tears fearful for her life it's so scary
My baby choked about a week after I watched this; and boy was I glad I had just watched this video. You probably saved her life! This is such clear and wonderful instruction and it worked. Thank you!
You are extremely well spoken and a pleasure to learn from. Thank you for the lesson!
Thank you kindly!

TOTALLY AGREE . MAXXAUS.
Years ago I saw my dad use this technique on my nephew that had a coin in his throat. Playing with it in his mouth and accidentally swallowed it. Luckily my pops knew exactly what to do and I asked him how did you know that was the correct thing to do. He said I learned it in a first aid class. (It stayed with me for years.) Yesterday I had to use it on my 4 yr old son. As he had a hot dog sliced as she showed in video not to have em sliced and I used this technique. Fortunately my mother realized what was happening before my son could panick and when he was about to panick I was in position and had him over my knee and hitting his back. Luckily its came out on the first few hits. In hindsight the what ifs is my head really terrify me, but I thank God for the outcome. The whole family gonna watch this video and we're going to practice because you never know.
So glad everything is ok!
That's awesome but don't rely on a video. Take the whole family to CPR and first aid training so they can learn more and practice those skills.
I neither have children nor plan to have them in life. But still watched it to save someone else's child in emergency if that time comes. You explained well. Thank you.
Thank you for this video! My 4 year old choke on a M&M yesterday and thank God I didn’t have to do chest compressions on him but it scared the living crap out of me and now I’m here watching this video. Just made me realize you never know what might happen gotta learn things like this so we can be prepared for the worst.
So glad all is ok Chrissy!
My brother saved someone’s toddler on the train choking like two days after learning this.
*Avoid Circular/Spherical shapes when cutting food portions. Cut into quarters or random shapes, avoid shapes that can easily block child's airway. ((Even leaves can block a child's airway)).
*Encourage strong coughing when air blockage is suspected, if cough is strong continue, shortness of breath/inability to cough, proceed to:
*Position A) Lay baby on stomach in your lap, rear end higher than the head, give stern pats to center of back between shoulder blades with palm of hand, sharp concise strikes, if this doesn't work continue to;
*Lay baby on back in your lap, and give firm presses to the hard breast bone area of child, using palm of hand faced forward. Continue to rotate between this position and Position A until airway becomes unobstructed. If this routine does not work, call 911 immediately.
*These are my own Notes, feel free to use. I memorize information better when I read it.*
Man, I really hope I never have to use these
I just used them yesterday it was the worst day of my life
@@MG4_ i am so sorry
Omg the same
Plan for the worst while hoping for the best.
This video saved my toddler's life. I'm so grateful I watched through it and knew what to do when she was choking. Thank you so much for this video ❤
Love that she goes into details about the things to watch out for and how to cut foods, as a Daycare provider I always recommend parents learn infant and toddler CPR. And not only that but develop safety habits...buckling kids into seats and not just sitting there because a table attachment is in front of them, if you have an infant always put soft things or Ideally mats, on the floor with them if they're learning to balance and sitting up. When they're learning to walk, walk behind them just incase they fall backwards or forwards, always do quick checks when they fall or even at night to make sure older children's wounds are healing properly and that they aren't picking at them....I want my kids to be safe at home and in daycare all the time.
Based pov!
I saw a child almost choke to death on a sausage skin. I’m very surprised she didn’t advise removing that skin. It’s deadly!
Thanks I’ve learned something new
Agree, As a first-time mom, whenever I give my 1 yr old son hotdog I intend to peel off the skin cause I observe that he's having a hard time swallowing it.
I have a 2 year old boy. Never did I give him susage or hotdog but fresh fruits as snack and he loves it.
Awesome! No piece of information is wasteful. The basics and important stuff! Love it
Can’t scroll past without sharing. These kinds of things should be well known for everyone
I 18 months old baby suffered chocking recently and one of such videos I have that already watched helped me to save my baby.
Amazing!!!
This is so informative thank you! Children aren’t stupid but are curious and accidents happen.
I’ve had this training as a daycare employee but just keep rewatching videos like this because it’s so important to be reminded every few months or after a year since we so often forget what we know in emergency situations. It’s best not to assume we “already know everything”.
I’m a new grandmother, thank you this was so helpful😀
Very informative, thank you. Very glad my toddlers have always coughed well, but it's a relief to know what to do now.
thank you so much for the session hope all of you safe
I don't even have a child but I feel like when a video like this pops up it's worth watching and educating yourself, you never know.
Thank you for making this video! It is amazing how unprepared we are as parents...
Thank you so much for this video. To the prevention, I'd add: when it comes to grapes, another danger is the skin it can cover the airways same as the leaf. that's why you should always peel fruits until your child has all his teeth to deal with it. Children can choke with objects which are big as the tip of their little finger.
My baby choked on a cheerio and I had to call an ambulance a few months ago….it was horrifying and now I’m so much more cautious. I never had anything even close to that happen to my older two children. You can never let your guard down.
Who can dislike such helpful video??
Thank you I have now realised the mistakes I’ve made in those situations and also how to help my child in the most effective away thank you
I watch this video now and then to keep the technique fresh in my mind. Good stuff 👍🏾
I have needed to do this on my son. It saved my son life. I just like to point out that their a good chance the child will throw up. The dummies I practice on never did that
:)
It's true my son threw up thank god. It's so scary.
This video needs to be advertised by youtube. So important if you have small children.
Thank you! This is something every parent should know and review every so often! 👍
This video just popped up and with caring for my 11 month old grandson I thought it would be good to watch! You never know what could happen! I’ll be doing everything in my power to prevent from having to use this technique but THANK YOU so much for this helpful information!!!
Great, easy to follow instructions. Thank you
Just listening to this lady is so soothing. Her voice could put me to sleep.
And this is only one of the many reasons that we Need, Respect, & Value those who have chosen (Nursing) as their profession. 💙
I remember getting my CPR certification when I was in college taking my early childhood education classes. I am so glad I took the class. I always tell my kids to sit down and eat. Even if they are eating a snack. Grateful for the share! Happy Holidays! 🌎💚🌟✨
Thanks so much for this video!! I have had a few scary moments with my kids for sure. A few choking scares and other things and even though when the incidents were fresh I was just too scared to even talk too much about the different dangers there are that could potencially hurt my kids..now after gaining more awareness and insight into these different danger topics I feel empowered, confident and very happy to know that im at least informed enough to pottencially save someone's life and THAT is priceless.
Brilliant Frances!
Thank you for the video. First time father here. Very worried about everything now. This helped! Thank you very much!
Hi Precious,i say this video is very important with very helpful pertinent information that can be lifesaving for babies, and all children, keep more of these kind of videos coming for many people to pay attention to,and learn from that’s very important for them, thank you, love Denny😘🙏😇🦋🧩🍇
I am 35 weeks pregnant and this is my first baby. I have taken CPR in the past but I always feel like I’m not prepared enough so thank you for making such a clear video. I am with the other parent in the comment section I hope I never have to use this.
We are glad our video helped, and we too hope you never have to use it!

Best thing for mother’s to do is to run a simulation on a doll while looking at their baby. This will help to get an accurate feel for how hard the blows have to be. The biggest thing to fear at a time like this is your inability to want to provide adequate blows to your child’s back because of your maternal instincts of not wanting to hurt the child.
So true. When I saw her hit that doll my first thought was, "you're going to break the kids spine" 🤦♀️.
Its the way you graciously explain these things.
Life saving info. I have a baby brother. I'm glad I watched this. Thankyou VERY MUCH.
Great advice thank you.. but terrifying! I have a 17 year old , a 10 year old and I’m pregnant now. 😨 both of my children have choked before when they were babies and I almost lost my mind! Thankfully they both happened to get it up.. 🙏🏻
I just had to do this to save my 9 months old life. So glad I watched these types of videos. Thankfully i got it out with the back thrusts. Scariest moment of my life. Never want to see her struggle again. Thanks for this life saving information
How scary
Thank you for sharing this vital information. Really, like the demonstrations and explanations, very clear and calmly executed.
Tips like these should be given to any future parents...
Thank you. Its a very scary situation. Especially the panic and rushing moments for the parent. So I strongly recommend calmness, but not passive in the procedure itself. Its a race against the time. I know the feeling as I chocked on the food as an adult, scared the crap out of people around me 😁
I was feeding my daughter (6 months) some puréed sweet potatoes and there was a small piece that wasn’t blended well. I didn’t realize it until she tried to swallow it and she stopped breathing and the look on her face instantly put me into panic mode. I went to grab her out of her chair and thank God she was able to cough it out but this experience has left me traumatized. I will be learning first aid classes so that I can keep her safe.
And the most important thing, don't forget to get 911 on the phone before you start.
Thank you for this clear, concise and informative explanation. Please create more of these videos. Many thanks again.
This gave me heart palpitations and a panic attack.
Same with me but I'm not taking the risk and clicking off cause its scary.
Lifesaving info. I wish I had seen this before having children. Thankfully my mom was there when my baby was choking and saved him!!
Grandma want her grandson eat like animal.
I pray that no one literally no one ever has to do this. But this video is really helpful. I usually leave my 3 years old with an apple to bite and eat. Going forward I will always be around her when she is eating.
tonight my 3 years old daughter choked on a coin…. It was so scared as you can imagine, but I used these life saver first aid procedures and thanks god it works!!! I involuntarily shaking after the coin came out!!! Thanks for sharing!!
As a new mom due in 6 weeks, your videos are a godsend!! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Thanks a million for your efforts and advices, as a young mother I have learned a lot from you!! Keep it up 👍
You are so welcome! Our mission is to empower every parent and carer of children with the confidence to help their child in an emergency :)
just the refresher video was looking for and also watched so ov the other videos. all great stuff!!! keep up the good work!!
It's really nice that someone is doing it.
She’s like don’t wack the baby then proceeds to mortal kombat his spine lmao
🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember when I was 4-5 I almost chocked to death on a hotdog. For some reason as a child I would hold food in my mouth for HOURS! I was blue couldn’t breath my mama ran everywhere to get me help. I have a daughter now and I’m learning everything I need to be prepared
This was in my recommended videos and I have a 6 week old baby. Don't need this, and hopefully never will, but I'd rather swat up just in case. Thank you, it's always better to be safe than sorry
A lot of thanks Doc. For performing CPR. I knew now how to do. Thank you
This video is extremly instructive. Impressive instructor!
Thank you so much for this video! It saved my baby’s life. I started with baby led weaning and was very afraid to do so. After watching this video i had the courage to start and everything went on fine. You always here mums saying that they did it and their babies never chocked. Good for them but mine did. It was stuck in his throat and wouldn’t go out. I immediately turned him and tap on the back (like mentioned in the video) and everything came out. It actually happened twice. Since then, I gave my baby purée. But I want to thank you very much for this video! It saved my baby’s life.
God bless you and the work of your hands!
I'm soo sorry you had to go through that. I'm thinking of doing baby led weaning as well, or a mixture but now I'm also second thinking... Do you mind me asking what was it he choked on?
Everyone should know this not just parents or grandparents but everyone.
As a grand mother I need to know this. This video is very informative
I remember I was in the first grade. I was eating cocoa puffs in the cafeteria. I guess I ate too fast. The coco puff got longed in my throat. I started to choke I couldn't breathe. Out of nowhere one of the lunch ladies came out. Grabbed me pressed my chest against a garbage can. I still was choking she had to slap my back hard. The coco puff somehow flew out of my nose. She saved my life. ❤ Moral of the story perhaps coco puffs are not that safe for a 6 year old.
a scary but lucky thing that the lady was ready and knowledgeable. ah! but an airway obstruction can happen even to an adult, best for the child to learn to eat mindfully while young
Thank you! I refresh myself via your videos every so often and pray I am prepared if I ever need to perform these on my children.
You are most welcome :)
It's really good video. So useful!
I remember when I was like 5-6 years old I swallowed small bearing ball( it was metallic, I played with toys and any tiny stuff was my favourite thing.) I didn't felt like I was choking, but anyway my mum did everything to help me. She always was attentive, so that time it helped too.
May no one will have to get such experience and may all children will be safe🤗❤️
I watched this video when I was pregnant and little baby turned 6 momths a few days ago, and we started solids. I really hope I never have to use this but I want to make I remember everything. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for sharing! it's really important for someone like me who's taking care of children.
You are so welcome!
I have a traumatic memory of choking on a peppermint at my grandma’s when I was 6 & my mom having to heimlech me. Thank you, I will carry this knowledge forward.
Same here, choked on a Jaffa as a little kid and my mum did the heimlich on me and saved me. Terrifying ordeal for both of us and we still remember it vividly all these decades later.
Haven't taken a class in years. Thanks for posting.
Just like to say what a great video for clear information on choking and what to do
Excellent teacher and doctor
Many thanks
I know this is not to do with choking, but I read a heartbreaking story by a couple who shared how their child died while they were visiting friends.
Their toddler was wandering in the child proof house and drowned in the toilet.
When a toddler leans over a toilet and falls in, their are arms are trapped.
Shook me!! Never had a bathroom door open afterwards in any house I was in.
So kind of them to share this info in their grief.
Apparently, it is not uncommon. Can also happen with a pail of water.
Very tragic :( May I ask how old the child was?
This is exactly why I always try my best to have the bathroom door closed. In addition to my son putting his hands in the toilet I always tell my older child to make sure he closes the door..the thought of my toddler diving head first in there scares me
Thank you for sharing…I will now be vigilant with my beloved 1 year old when we are at other peoples houses. I am so sorry for this couple, absolutely tragic.
Thankyou for this important information! I''ve only ever encountered a choking child once and ended up doing back blows with an open palm because I hadn't seen this video, thankfully it was still effective but now I know the proper way to do it :)
Thanks for this video. Really scary to imagine but it's good to know what to do just in case.
Found your video informative and very well presented. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
My sister, who's a physio, used the above five firm back blows on her 2.5 year old toddler choking on a carrot which was very effective: the key is to remain calm, and carry out the procedure as shown. But as pointed out in the video on prevention, we should have been more careful in allowing the toddler to playfully take cooked, circular carrot slices from our plates!
Thank you for this. Literally, life saving information.
My daughter and Son-In-Law live with me and my wife. They have a 6, 3,2 and 1yr old as well. About 3 months ago the 2yr old- who is like MY Shadow- began to choke on a piece of meat my daughter had cut up for her. I had told her the pieces were too large but she told me I was being a Hovering Papa. They noticed she was having troubles but didn’t know what to do. I was coming down the stairs as I heard the sounds of fear turn into terror and I ran down the rest of the way to see my little grand daughter struggling to breathe and see her arms start to flail. I ran to her and, Thank GOD, was able to help her dislodge a considerably good size piece of meat and see it fly out of her mouth. It was the scariest moment of my 56 years but was so greatful that I (1) knew what to do and (2) Employ the method properly. My grand daughter and I are closer than ever now and she’s truly a Blessing to have in our lives.
Very helpful video for a Aunt babysitting her nephew! Thanks 👍🏾

very useful information! Thank you! God bless!

Every parent should know this before they have a child. I'm glad my kids know this from their health classes in school. You never know when you will save a Life. I encourage CPR too. Of the 162 people that dislike this video they should be ashamed.
