I am a die-hard Metalhead. I listen to everything from Slayer to Dio, Megadeth, Cannibal Corpse, etc. and honestly do not understand why Amaranthe receives so much hate. They've combined three different vocal styles and yet, made it work. Another thing, even the "Pop Metal" thing is rubbish, because Pop artists probably wish they had the talent Elize has. I know I will receive negative replies, but if that is to be the case, so be it!

Pop metal sucks, Elize is a pop singer and shit.
Honestly, Elize's vocals have been compared only with pop, punk and pop rock singers, not with those in the metal scene like Tarja, Sharon Den Adel, Floor Jansen or classically trained singers like Charlotte Church and Sarah Brightman. You can say that Within Temptation is raking in cash from Sharon's presence but what about Nightwish? They became famous for having Tarja Turunen as their frontwoman, a monstrosity with opera vocals that haunt you. Elize's vocals are softer, more human than Tarja's but more powerful than any pop singer, past or present. Even in the intro to this song you can hear the power behind her vocals, just that she's keeping a rein on it until the time is right to let it rip. And did it rip apart what the intro showed. It showed her as a pop/rock singer until the chorus where you really hear the power that rivals those of the best singers in metal. Powerful and melodious. This is the main point everyone is contesting about, Elize's presence in a metal band.
I agree!! 20 yr + metal fan here. Super stoked to hear new metal sounds. This isn't pop metal. It's melodic metal. News flash, Amaranthe isn't the first melodic metal band.

I agree. I also listen to Megadeth, Slayer, Lamb of God, etc. But sometimes, my mood calls for something different. I love this song and quite a few others by this band. Fuck the haters.

FangirlingBTVS I grew up in the 80’s and definitely have a soft spot for metal tender jams. The singer with dreads is a little too “90’s nu metal” for me but the woman and death metal guy are awesome and the guitar solo is perfect. Best ballad I’ve heard in years.

Just caught these folks with Dragonforce at Palladium in NYC. They tore it up. Technically tight AF, musically on point and a seriously good f----ing time live. They have a deeper catalogue of kick-ass songs than I expected, as well.
I was at that show! I bought a ticket for Dragonforce and Nanowar of Steel. Never heard of Amaranthe. I was a fan of theirs by the end of the set.

I am into everything rock/metal...that included heavy metal, thrash metal, grunge, classic rock, and everything metal and rock genres. I love my heavy stuff and classic rock but sometimes when the mood strikes you wanna listen to something a little bit different. I like how this band has used 3 different vocalist styles and made it work. I don't judge a band just on what genre they are because that is being narrow minded. I judge bands on exactly what they are trying to do and and how well they do it...that being said amaranthe has a place in the rock/metal genre...
Kick-ass musical harmony in the songs! A wonderful set of chords! From the introduction to the climax, everything is wonderful and develops with taste! And of course, amazing voices!

I don't think I've ever come across a song that speaks to me so much lyrically. It's weird. People have often knocked me down for being so positive about love. But, I think in all of us there's a part that just wants that amaranthine that is for us, someone who isn't going to leave, and will just be accepting of who you are, in the good times as well as the bad. People have mocked me for having so much faith in love, hope and a forever. People assume it's the only thing I live for, but that's not strictly true- it's just the one thing I'm most positive about. Despite all the hurt, and knock backs I've had I've never given up faith or hope. And yes, this is coming from someone who's recently had her heart ripped out. I've considered doing some awful things, but I think overall, the pain is just a reminder that at least I can feel. At least I am capable of love. And one day, there will be somebody out there that will appreciate who I am, all the kindness that is within me, and never judge me for being what many consider naive. It may make me seem stupid, perhaps I am. But at least I never gave up the fight in me. At least I never stopped trying ^_^
If anything, I think it opens me up and allows me to see people from a different perspective, some people are so desperate they'll easily lie. And those are the people I pity, those are the people that will never be a regret but an actual learning curve.
I totally agree with you on absolutely every word. Some people wonder how Im still a hopeless romantic through all I've been through high school and college (trust me it would make your head spin) and then I finally thought I'd found my soulmate that I'd be with forever. She had just graduated high school herself and we enjoyed 14 wonderful years knowing each other and then on Nov 21 at the age of 32 she was taken from me tragically. Now again Im alone and yes sad but I still hope to find my Amaranthine that I can live life with from now on. I've been exactly where you are several times over wondering the whys and the hows and yet I still write too. I wrote a poem yesterday to that person wherever she is. And I've also been lied to more times than I care to count but I'm not giving up. You pretty much put perfectly exactly how I have been feeling too.
Never had a relationship last more than two weeks, and my first one wasn't till well after high school. I just never seemed to find someone I could connect with. Met a girl from across the ocean 10 months ago at a party, and we've been together ever since. We visit each other whenever we can, and chat via webcam 5 days a week. Once she is able to, she is going to come live with me. It took a long time for me to find someone who would accept me for me and that I could connect with on a deep level. But it was well worth the wait. So yes, definitely stay positive and have faith. That's not naive, it is being patient and not letting bad experiences cloud your perception.

I just saw they perform as special guest with Within Temptation in Montreal just tonight. Great band I said, and yeah I have to admit that her hair is too damn long XD
Saw the Within Temptation show in NYC last night. I had never heard of this band until I got my ticket for WT. When they first came out, I was nervous because the screamer guy came out first and I'm not a fan of that, but then she came out and I was relieved! I could not stop staring at her, she is freaking gorgeous. I barely understood most of the songs because I don't know the songs and couldn't hear the words through the music, whereas with WT I heard every word because I know those songs already. I would have enjoyed Amaranthe more without the screaming, but all in all, it was okay! I'm going through the stuff to see if maybe I want to get their music. I did like the sound with the only real downside being the screaming. I just couldn't stop staring at her though. Something about her had me distracted and focused on her. I had to take a few pictures! Also, this was my first real band on stage so it was really cool seeing everyone moving like they were! Having five people all at the front was really cool!

I have to say I absolutely love this song, it has become an anthem for me and my gf.
Still I have to point out a thing I don't like about the video... I dislike the parts where they overuse Elyze's image, making her sexy crawl on the floor, it does not fit the song's feel or purpose at all, and it makes her look "cheesy" when she clearly isn't. And she doesn't need to do it, she's beautiful and has an amazing voice.
