Easiest thing to check for a fuel pump, not moving fuel to the carburetor is to pull off the fuel line near the fuel filter and blow into each line to listen for leaks. The slightest crack in the line will cause the fuel pump to be ineffective. Many times the rubber grommets that hold the fuel line into the fuel tank are often dry rotted, and they will also cause the pump to work poorly due to there not being a vacuum.
Thank you I was out of ideas. Cleaned carb, air filter and replaced pump and sane not getting any fuel to the pump. My tank is also located in back but I cannot see down in there as the fill spout is to the left of driver. I will give the back blow and suction a shot. Also I broke the little tab on top of carb that the choke linage attaches to. Any ideas on how to rig that up to work?
Make sure your fuel line is not clogged. Put presure in thr fuel tank ao see if fuel comes out of the filter end. Be careful not to put too much presure. Check the vacume line to the pump if you have a vacume style pump.
@@sidecarrat yes, I will try that. I used a compressor to blow backwards toward the empty fuel tank and air seems to feel like it was flowing up out of the filler hole. I'll try pressurizing the tank with fuel in it to see if the filter bowl fills up, eh?
Mine wasn’t getting fuel into my carburetor. So a quick hack for anyone compressor. Cover the gas tank with your hand a blow air into gas tank until you see the gas flowing. Problem solved, nothing is wrong with your fuel pump
I have a gas starving problem with my F525. It started 3 seasons ago. I could mow for 45 minutes for the first year, but I had to keep the chock almost fully pushed to choke, then about 25 the second and now this year it is about 30 ft. I have 2 of these mowers. My other on runs good, so I started to test fit parts. Spark plug, air filter, fuel filter rt off the bat and didn't help. I switched the carb and that didn't help. I switched the fuel pump and that didn't help. I was going to replace the coil, but I really think it's a fuel issue, considering it runs different if I hit bumps with it. I about 95 % convinced my tank has clap in it, especially cuz I look at the filter and there isn't hardly any fuel in it as it's running at high idle. When I look at the tank, there is a valve at the top and it looks like it could be removed, but it has these clamps that squeeze the fitting. If I remove the clamp, can I pull the gas line out of the tank ? Is there a filter inside the tank at the end of the line ?
I have a L110 too , and it don’t start as well , it will start if I put gas in carb , and just like your customer L110 it Can’t get gas to filter as well, I will try Jacking it up like you did , I know Blowing in hose gas didn’t work as well , thank you, will try you thing !
Question, I have a YT 3000 craftsman lawn tractor and I can’t seem to locate the fuel pump anywhere. Do you know where it could be located on this particular model
Nice video...like the back blowing to clear the line! QUESTION: After back blowing, what is the best way to put pressure on the tank to push the fuel from the tank to the fuel filter ? I've seen 2 videos where the repair tech puts their mouth into the gas tank opening (creating a seal with your cheeks) and blowing in?! Seems a little unsafe and wanted to see if there are other recommended ways.
I use my compressed air. I do this by using a rag wrapped my air nozzle to seal around the opening. You need to be careful not to put to much presure. So I use short burst. You can do the same with a hose and your mouth. It doesn't take much presure to push the fuel to the pump. Unless the fuel line has a restriction. Then you would most likely need to replace it.
@@sidecarrat your guidance, insight and expertise on this was EXACTLY what it needed...it started right up!!! Just an idea since this is the 2nd time that happened to me (and the 1st time I had to take it into a repair shop, since your current video wasn't posted in 2019_....perhaps create another video or add to this one to include the situation that you walked me through in my question. Hello I changed the mechanical pump just like this one then he broke carburetor and got it back together and now the pump not sucking on the suction side how is it possible the pump isn't working again
While mowing last week all of the sudden I lost power(didn’t run out of gas). Started it back up and now it won’t run unless the choke is all the way up. I looked at the fuel filter and it was completely dry. I ordered a new pump online, installed it, and am having the same issue. I can’t get but a few drops of fuel to come thru the line. Any suggestions? I may replace all the lines and see if there is a blockage of some sort.
Check to see if the little hole in the top of the gas cap is plugged. It is meant to be a vent.. Mine was plugged and it acted exactly like it was out of gas. Unplugged the hole and it started right back up!
with a rear tank the fuel line makes a 90 degree turn tru plastic elbows that over time start leaking air into line preventing a suction . ck at pump inlet to see if u can get a siphon flow to start and continue.
First make sure the pump is pumping. Remove the fuel line on the carb side and spin the engine over. If you have good fuel flow check it at the carb. You can spray starting fluid in intake if it runs good you have a fuel problem. May have trash in the carb.
@@sidecarrat Thank you for the reply- I poured gasoline back down the carburetor hose into the filter after I let it set all night and Now it starts OK -who knows? Maybe flooded.
You know, I thought this was working and wasn't gonna have a problem but now it's back to what it was doing before - not starting. I ordered a new fuel pump and when I get it what do I have to do? Maybe pour gas in the carburetor and line?

I rigged up a 3/4 heater hose to my shop vacuum and it worked great to remove peace’s of rubber from fuel cap

If it’s rear tank mower, just replace All the fuel hose from tank to carb
Fixed most of the problems

Some don't have fuel pumps. Send me a picture of the engine compartment
You don't have to use clear tubing; however I find it much easier to use.
