"Ever since the plane's maiden flight in 1971,the DC-10 has been in service with large number of airlines for flying from continent to continent. The aircrafts' typical third propulsion unit mounted at the tail is part of one of the most outstanding civil aviation developments in the las decades.
The aircraft is flown with a three-man crew in the cockpit consisting of the captain,the first officer and a flight engineer. Although the plane has seen a great deal of service,it appears to have lost little if its original charm.
This film consists of scenes from over 20 years of DC-10 history including many interesting pictures from the archives.
The highlight of this film centres on a flight with a DC-10 from Frankfurt to Beijing.
How is navigation carried out on board a DC-10, what duties does a flight engineer have to cope with and what takes place during 10 hour flight to Beijing? This film is really interesting and not just for DC-10 fans." - Наука

Check the nicotine stain at about 4:11 during the walk around - You see the cabin pressurisation outlet on the tail section.
You can see that smoking was still common on flights in 1994.
Here In Germany smoking is the fastest growing sport
Of the big bodies during the 80s, I flew on more DC-10s than any other, next was the 747. Unfortunately, I never got to fly on a L10-11 Tri-Star. I heard it was a great plane.

The DC-10 is out of production, but it is very well still in service and in the skys. Fedex mainly uses them.
I miss the DC-10 in todays skies & airports. She was such a great workhorse.

wow what a history this plane had.. From Lufthansa to Sabena then to Condor and then continental and then world Cargo.. and the bloody thing is still trooping on for Kelowna Flightcraft Air Charter last I saw.. Wow... last pic i managed to get of it was June this year.

3:04 Isnt she beautiful???!!!!!????!!!!! The queen of the skies IMO. This my favorite airliner to fly on. The design gave a level of comfort that the 747 couldn't even come close to providing. The 747 (which I love...dont get me wrong!!!!!!!) was designed for transporting as many passengers as possible. The DC-10 was designed for luxury and accommodation. Of course they wanted to seat as many people as possible. But they wouldn't sacrifice amenities to cram 400 tiny sardine seats like the coach 747. Coach in the DC-10 was pretty much like business class on other airliners. Im so sad she has retired :-(
To me the Lufthansa livery is always yellow on blue. It is a dignified livery dating to the origins of Lufthansa.
It says to me quality, techical expertise, excelll;ence. it looks good on ayrcraft like the Dc10 and the newer Airbus

I have all B.L&P VHS film series in the '90 years. and the best is the DC-10 Lufthansa film! in the part 5, time 4.12 started Cubi desert with fantastic clouds and my favori aviotion music!
BL&P is a production company in kassel and I interviewed with them once.

I have to be fair to the DC-10. It may have had its share of problems and accidents. However, it flew a lot of miles and by a lot airlines. A lot of passengers flew on it (yours truly, included). I also have to say that the DC-10 was/is a very big plane still! You can see it especially when they do the external checks.
What's the difference between a DC 10 and MD 11? They both have the 3rd tail engine.
The MD 11 is a bitte longer

Do not put your ass in a dc 10. Its the worst passenger plane. Md-11 is an upgrade and much safer.
