Thanks so much for posting this. Ever since my childhood days, the DC-10 has been my favorite commercial airliner. It's great to see it here in its prime (or perhaps a little after...)

What a huge different comparing a dc10 to today’s Boeing 787. A whole lot less buttons knobs and levers for sure
true, nowadays planes fly themselves.
I loved flying the DC-10-30, with my airline Overseas National Airways

Nostalgia aside what a flying death trap that DC-10 was.
To state the DC-10 "a flying death trap" is absurd. Yes. the aircraft initially had a engineering fault with the rear cargo bulk door. This was exasperated by the Turkish airlines tragedy caused by ground crew who couldn't read English door operation instructions on the door ! The other accidents (American Airlines Chicago)(United Airlines Sioux City)were caused by aircraft maintenance personnel NOT following aircraft manufacturer maintenance procedures !
Do I claim Airbus Industrie A330 "a flying death trap" (AirFrance flight 447) because of faulty pitot tubes ? or its pilots too dependent on its flight computers?
NO !
Here we see Lufthansa operating the DC-10-30 for many years without any mishaps whatsoever until its retirement.. The aircraft fulfilled Lufthansa's requirements perfectly and in turn Lufthansa took care of the aircraft with professional maintenance personnel.
I cannot agree more, it was the flying death tube.....it's now done taking all those lives
Chicago 1979.....
Craig Martin exactly!!!!
