    Thank you for taking the time to cover some of our brush on acrylic paints on your channel. I'm sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy working with them, but some people with different techniques may have a better experience. We’re making minor tweaks to the formulations with every batch, and the newer ones are coming out smoother and more refined. Making great model paint is a labor of love and not something so easily mastered on the first go-around. Given enough time, I’m confident that we will iron out the kinks and have a full range that can hang with the best of them!

      I’ve tried a lot of bright paints and for me personally Huge Minis makes the best fluorescents, smooth, not chalky and very vibrant. I even asked my lgs to stock their products, they sell like crazy there. The basing material is fantastic, various sized/shaped tufts are a major plus. I appreciate the fact that this is a company that makes everything by hand and is incredibly receptive to community feedback. Customer service is great and shipping in the US is lightning fast.

I live near one of them, and the entire set was available: I just don't need that much paint. I'm so glad that there are a lot more good paint ranges available these days compared to even just a couple of years ago, but sadly a lot of brands everyone uses and loves are pretty hard to get where I live so the actual accessibility of a lot of them is a major factor still and I'm really happy you covered that! The two thin coats paints are actually easier to get in my country at the moment than proacryl or ak are, but generally anything outside citadel and vallejo aren't even an option unless i can fork out multiple times the cost of the few paints i'm ordering just for shipping, and I still have to wait a month for them to arrive.
    There are so many awesome paints I want to try that i'm likely to never get a chance to, and so I'm grateful that there are so many reviews out there covering the strengths and weaknesses of all the exciting new ranges so i know which ones are the better options when i do save up and commit to buying a couple of things from another range.

    Yep, availability is crucial here. I know many Americans swear by Pro Acryl but they don't understand that PA's almost impossible to get in large parts of Europe. And even if they are, their price is extremely high and they're not THAT good to justify purchasing them for double price of AK Interactive. If you don't exist on the shelf, you're worthless. Fortunately my LGS is a retailer for Two Thin Coats so I have full access to everything from wave 1 and 2.

    Never had this problem with AP before?
    I've noticed a slower drying time which if your not careful does lift easily but I've had it twice happen on models that have dried for 24hrs.

    The two thin coats range is one of my favorite. But I experienced the same thing as you when it came to availability.
    I can find most of the wave 1 paints in individual bottles, but the wave 2 range, which has been out for a while across the pond, it is still not available in the US for some reason.
    If you do a Google search on a release date for wave 2 in the US there is a vague release date of Q2 2024, and apparently it looks like they’re probably going to miss their second announcement of when these will be available in the US… I can’t help but wonder what is causing the delay?
    Maybe it’s related to their Kickstarter for wave 3. I personally wish they would’ve at least figured out whatever production issues they are having distributing wave 2 to the US.
    I took a look at the wave 2 range and there is a significant edition of more vibrant colors, more metallics because wave 1 only contains six, and he introduces a range of glazes and I believe he finally released some medium, which is nonexistent in the first wave of Two Thin Coates.
    I want to put them up in the top three of the paints I use but with limited access to just Wave 1 in the US, I find myself passing, unless there’s a triad that I really need such as the green, and the off-white Triad is pretty good.
    I’ve also been pretty impressed with their white named White Star.
    It’s very close to bold titanium white from Pro-Acryl but it leans more towards a Satin finish which is what I prefer prefer considering how much I love Pro Acryl, their paints can sometimes be too Matte for my liking…

    ATOM paints are hobby-life changing paints, they perform how miniature paint should perform...that self leveling tech actually works, the finish is a dream come true, no streaks ever! Just perfection, in fact they also glaze and shade so well I got rid of my washes and contrast paints.
    4 drops of water to 1 drop of ATOM paints and you get a heavy glaze that is easy to work with.
    If you are just getting into painting, then go with ATOM, I wish I had them when I was struggling with all the effing BS of figuring out how to thin Citadel paints. You don't thin ATOM, just paint out of the bottle, similar to Pro Acryl (which is the 2nd best brand for n00bs like myself).

    I have TTC wave 1&2 and waiting on wave 3. They are pretty much the only paints I use aside from a couple contrast paints for things like glowing eyes on minis and a couple other minor things. The paints do have an indicator of the triad to which they belong through the numbering system on the bottles, but I admit it’s not obvious. I love the paints and got rid of my GW paints for them. However, availability (particularly of the wave 2 paints) and particularly in Canada where I live, is pretty limited. I hope availability improves going forward though. I’ve tried to convince a Couple hobby stores to carry them.
    Additionally I would argue that no paint manufacturer really has a lot of different colours. They all offer main colours with variant shades. Even GW who has 15 types of blue, are really just 5 blues with variant shades on either side, plus that includes contrast, air, and dry colours. So really, not that large a pallet when I look at the paint rack of my FLGS. Same as TTC and everyone else. It just seems like there’s more colours because there isn’t a specific colour system like triads being used. Add to that washes, glazes, and brights, and effect paints, and I’d say TTC offers good bang for the buck. With wave 3 we get 60 more colours and two new varnishes. I do hope they produce even a limited line of contrast like paints though. That would really round out the set.

      I do still use reaper! I like reaper as a good beginner paint, as it isn't super opaque and therefore can be layered up for an opaque color, or easily thinned to a glaze. However, if someone wants to paint armies or something just to get it on the table, then I like two thin coats as it's smooth and very opaque in one go.

      I do like them! I especially like them for beginners who want to work on the skill of glazing. They can be layered up for pure opacity, but they are very easy to thin. However, I will admit that I just threw out the majority of my reaper paints in preference for two thin coats!

    Two Thin Coats placement in the triad is very much listed on the bottle. Its just a letter, B for base, or H for highlight etc. It's funny cuz you actually showed it front and center when you were showing the comparison with the army painter triad.

    • @LylaMev
      @LylaMev  7 месяцев назад

      Yes! I did see the Base, midtone, etc. What I mean is that I have no idea what triad each one belongs to. There are 4 brownish sets, and therefore 4 brownish base coats. Which base belongs to the bardic skin highlight set? Labeling them as "base" is only so helpful.

      I do dig the bottle design . Privateer Press and other companies that use that flip cap need to change to this type of bottle. Much easier on the opening and closing.

    I've always been a little unsure of why people want such vibrancy in their paints, and order to get them to the right color wouldn't you have to like dilute them a lot and like tone them down and mix and it would take a while to get like a realistic red like when you'd see out in the world. With the vibrant colors of like Chimera. There may be some things I don't understand about painting I'm not a professional

    • @thetabletopsupershow3670
      @thetabletopsupershow3670 7 месяцев назад

      The more vibrant a model, the more readable it is from the table.

    • @dodosh9444
      @dodosh9444 7 месяцев назад

      You can always dull down vibrant paint but you can not saturate dull paint. Therefore vibrant paints are more versatile and 12 colours can already cover a massive range making them cheaper in the long run. When batch painting a whole army people understandably don't want to mix that much and resort to premixed shades instead, but for single model painting I would say that mixing paints can give a more interesting result.

    Yeah, I'll stick to Vallejo, thank you. Aside from the fact that they are excellent, the price for a 17ml bottle is 1.9$ here. Citadel starts at 3.48 for a 12 ml bottle. It's a no brainer. Other brands are not even worth getting into, at least for me, although I do have a set of Speed paints 1.0 and the chameleon paints from Green Stuff.
    Thank you for taking the time to do this for new people.

    The two thin coats bottles and caps are trash. the bottles are tough to squeeze. it's either half a drop because it clogged, or full on tidal wave, then the caps never sit right causing the paint to ooze or pour out. Luckily, my local carries the line but they never get restocks so I gotta pass on those even though I like using his washes.

    My experience with Huge Minis paints has been poor. Perhaps I got a first batch that was bad, but they thin so poorly and tend towards the more translucent side that I'll never buy them again. It's a shame because their colors are good and vibrant but it's such a pain to actually get it on something.

    Is there any difference between the Ammo Atom Smart paints vs the standard Atom paints?
    I will be bringing home a set of the Atom Smart Paints when I visit home next week but am wondering if I should order a couple of the standard Atom sets.
