I decided to write this song from my own experiences as a father. On the surface, it's Kratos speaking. But underneath, it's Dan speaking. I love my boy.
"However far you want to ride, I'll be right behind. Though you might not need your father, your father needs his son and so I will march far ther, til' the final deed is done." Those lines make me cry
I do love that "whatever feats I have achieved, whatever deeds I've done, will never leave a legacy, compared to thee my son" can be read both as Kratos reassuring Atreus and him telling himself that raising Atreus right will redeem his past sins.
It can also be read as both kratos telling Atreus that he will do so many great things that his own achievements mean nothing, or that there isn't a single thing kratos has done that can compare to Atreus being born
I would love to see his kid's reaction to this haha. By the way, I am making a study for my master's degree about nerdcore scenes. Can you help me out? Can you give me like the first 10 nerdcore artist names that come to your head? Or at least 5?
When I first heard this song, I cried, I'm a teenager and hearing this song, I can just imagine my dad telling me this. I love my dad, Dan thanks for making this masterpiece, you deserve more credit than anything. This is my absolute favorite song of all time. And for one of my favorite games makes it better. To everyone who lost their fathers. Know your dad will never leave. He loves you more than anything.
The reason I love Dan is he can use words like amalgamation, affromentioned, kindling, disposition, and so many more crazy words in rap. He makes it so smooth and that's why I'm a lifelong fan! Keep up the amazing work Dan!

I think this may be my favorite song ever by Dan. Not only one of my favorite series ever. But I lost my father early this year and I felt like I could hear him in this.
I absolutely LOVE the callback to the first God of War song I love oh so much. You're an amazing lyricist, songwriter, rapper, gamer and so on but most important of all, you're a hardworking & genuine father, Dan.

I am legitimately sniffeling right now, holding back tears at work. I found this song when I arrived home after calling my father that I was considering quitting my studies to become a teacher and he told me: "Whatever happens, know that I am proud of you." The raw emotion in this song is unparralled and I know that I will be listening to it in years to come. Here's to you Dan!
I have to admit I cried a lot because the feeling that this song carries is so heavy I can feel it deeply. This is Anthem for all the Fathers and Mothers who fight each day to ensure that their children have a darn good life with lessons and love in the way, many blessings to you all. Man, this brings tears. My step-father and I have a hard relationship, but he is my dad. He never said nor really hinted at love, but maybe that is the greatest love of all, doesn't it? Hello, my name is Paulo Sousa, a portuguese master's student in sociology at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto (FLUP). My thesis is called “Contemporary musical nerdcore scenes: emergence, dynamics and consolidation in the 21st century”, and I am under the guidance of professor Paula Guerra. For my thesis dissertation my object of study is presented as contemporary nerdcore music scenes on RUclips. In particular, in my work I am interested in knowing what social representations are created by their listeners and the way individuals themselves construct them when they experience nerdcore content these days, that is, I am interested in knowing the feedback from the fandom itself. So my reason to reach out to you is, if possible, I would like you to participate in a little exercise by just answering this question: Can you tell me what are the first nerdcore artist names that come to your mind? Maximum 10, minimum 5 (order is not relevant just respond to this comment if you wish so). (I also want to make a note that the collection of this data will be purely academic and that anonymity will be guaranteed, my intention is to look at this data in a grouping logic of all participants and not refer to each respondent their personal choices.) In case it is not possible to number the minimum, in the event that you are someone more selective, it's alright if you can't, just the participation and your goodwill makes up for it, it is also not necessary to be a faithful listener of the content of these artists, what interests me with this exercise are just the names that come to your mind. This will allow me, in an exploratory moment, to know the state of the scene, in symbolic terms, highlighting currently which names have a certain recognition by the fandom itself. As proof that I'm not trying to deceive you, here's my personal list: (As I am aware of the scamming theme on RUclips recently) Divide Music Fabvl Daddyphatsnaps (DPS) Zack Bouché (Zach B.) Rustage Dizzyeight The Kevin Bennett FrivolousShara HalaCG Dan Bull Your participation helps a lot, thank you very much!

Listening to this song made me feel warm inside, it just makes me think of my father, my father is cold and quiet to those around us, only works and never really talks, but when it comes to me, his son, he's the first to support me, I grew up without a mother, and I can say, he raised me right by himself. Now I'm going into the military, and for the first time, I heard my dad's voice break, he was proud, and it makes me tear up even now knowing, even if he never showed his love for me, he always prioritized me

Truly one of your finest works. Although I am yet to become a father myself, I could feel your love for your son. I wish your and your family all the best.
When I was very young, I liked these sorts of video game raps like most of Dan Bull's content and JT Music. Nowadays, I often struggle to listen to those songs. But some songs are less based on a game, and more inspired by them. Much of Aviators work, for example. Because someone I know recently discovered the Creeper Rap, I decided to go see how Dan Bull held up and mostly, it seems to be the same sort of songs as before. I forgot how clever the lyrics could be, but I still get the sense they're not dwelled on too much or anything for the algorithm's sake. Then I found this. It's not based on God of War, it's inspired by God of War. It's based on a real father's feelings for his child. I'm not necessarily a fan of most of Dan Bull's work, but this is so much more than a video game rap. This is a song that resonates. I don't know how, I'm not a father and in fact I'm still rather young. Maybe it's that I'm imagining my own dad. But this song *resonates* and I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm kind of obsessed. It's like finding the prettiest gem in a box of cheeto bags. The cheetos are fine, nothing really special anymore though, but look at that gem. Oh, and Kratos is cool af of course.
This was powerful. I imagine I would feel similarly if I ever have kids. But thinking from the other side, it hits a sensitive spot, because I was Atreus with my dad. Makes me think about all the things he left behind and how I sometimes feel like I'll always be underneath his powerful shadow. Thanks for this Dan.

I agree, I think its about time now that people get the message that Nerdcore and whatever is not just about the source material that the song is based off on, any artist can make a story in their songs based on fiction, nerdcore is not the same but I guess its selective in which either the character relates to the artist or doesn't. @@PauloSousa-hu9up well I'm not very knowledgeable on the genre, I'm listening to Dan Bull(obviously), Stupendium collabbed with Dan several times. Miracle of Sound is all about big and deep emotions through music and text so rock and metal are his weapons of choice. 1:59 Hey is that a reference to the previous GoW rap? (He needs his father, his father needs his son, and so we'll march on deeper 'til the final deed is done) Correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm really curious about that!
Song makes me very emotional due to the fact that me an my father have been through hell these last two years and the entire time I've seen us as a team so when I hear the phrase "though you might not need your father, your father needs his son" it helps me remember how much I've helped my dad an helped him battle through the hardships we've faced these last couple years much like Kratos and Atreus

You know. I am not a parent. But to be a mother is all I have ever wanted. Even without the first-hand experience this hits so damn hard. Our children are more important than words can express. Our children are our legacy made flesh, even if they do not follow in our footsteps. It's so deeply human. To love without condition. To teach a creature to be good and kind and to let them pass on your understandings. Big love Dan. Big love

Good lord this song.... I don't have the words to describe how perfect it is. I don't know whats better: the upfront idea making this game ten times better, or the deeper meaning and struggles fathers or parents as a whole do to give for their next of kin. Its a beautiful thing really. Im definitely keeping this in the playlist and using it to create one hell of a story arc for my Original Characters. And as a writer woth a passion for telling deep emotional stories, I'll have a field day with this. That is if I dont tear up

Ok
Me too 😭😭😭😭
I do love that "whatever feats I have achieved, whatever deeds I've done, will never leave a legacy, compared to thee my son" can be read both as Kratos reassuring Atreus and him telling himself that raising Atreus right will redeem his past sins.
It can also be read as both kratos telling Atreus that he will do so many great things that his own achievements mean nothing, or that there isn't a single thing kratos has done that can compare to Atreus being born
Damn right in the heart with this one Dan. A great song and even more amazing tribute to your son. Keep up the amazing work.

I am legitimately sniffeling right now, holding back tears at work. I found this song when I arrived home after calling my father that I was considering quitting my studies to become a teacher and he told me: "Whatever happens, know that I am proud of you."
The raw emotion in this song is unparralled and I know that I will be listening to it in years to come. Here's to you Dan!
Surprisingly mellow for the game its based off but it just makes it fit all the better. Well done Dan and we hope the best for you and your son.

Man, this brings tears. My step-father and I have a hard relationship, but he is my dad. He never said nor really hinted at love, but maybe that is the greatest love of all, doesn't it? The one not spoken but shown? I hope George can see the love you feel for him sooner than it took me to realize the one from my Father's.
Each individual has a way to express the deepest feelings, and those are rare too, you dont show love everyday otherwise it gets old, but when they show it it probably means has meaning to that person I think, not just because of obligation.

So my reason to reach out to you is, if possible, I would like you to participate in a little exercise by just answering this question:
Can you tell me what are the first nerdcore artist names that come to your mind? Maximum 10, minimum 5 (order is not relevant just respond to this comment if you wish so).
(I also want to make a note that the collection of this data will be purely academic and that anonymity will be guaranteed, my intention is to look at this data in a grouping logic of all participants and not refer to each respondent their personal choices.)
In case it is not possible to number the minimum, in the event that you are someone more selective, it's alright if you can't, just the participation and your goodwill makes up for it, it is also not necessary to be a faithful listener of the content of these artists, what interests me with this exercise are just the names that come to your mind. This will allow me, in an exploratory moment, to know the state of the scene, in symbolic terms, highlighting currently which names have a certain recognition by the fandom itself.
As proof that I'm not trying to deceive you, here's my personal list: (As I am aware of the scamming theme on RUclips recently)
Divide Music
Fabvl
Daddyphatsnaps (DPS)
Zack Bouché (Zach B.)
Rustage
Dizzyeight
The Kevin Bennett
FrivolousShara
HalaCG

"To provide the kind of love that does not come with condition"
That's my favorite line.
You're always so capable of creating a rap that, though it's for a video game, can be used to relate to real world people. You've killed it once again, dude. Definitely gonna replay this a few hundred times.
This is basically nerdcore right now, its universal, its not about the music honestly, maybe on the superficial level but within its not about the characters.

Listening to this song made me feel warm inside, it just makes me think of my father, my father is cold and quiet to those around us, only works and never really talks, but when it comes to me, his son, he's the first to support me, I grew up without a mother, and I can say, he raised me right by himself. Now I'm going into the military, and for the first time, I heard my dad's voice break, he was proud, and it makes me tear up even now knowing, even if he never showed his love for me, he always prioritized me
I've yet to play Ragnarok, but as a dad, this song really hits me hard. Love you Dan.

This made my eyes water, and my heart swell. Thank you Dan Bull for this magnificent song.
Yeah I think it hits hard for people that can relate on both sides actually, not a father myself, but I am still a son.

I agree, I think its about time now that people get the message that Nerdcore and whatever is not just about the source material that the song is based off on, any artist can make a story in their songs based on fiction, nerdcore is not the same but I guess its selective in which either the character relates to the artist or doesn't. Because if any character related to the artist then it would be chaos haha.

For what it's worth, not speaking as the profile I evidently use, this hit me hard. I'm not a father, but there are many times where I feel like I do not appreciate and reciprocate the love held for me by my parents well enough for it to matter. This song brought me to tears. Thank you.

1. This song hits HARD
2. The deeper meaning for you personally Dan Bukl makes this even better
Love when these songs have a meaning other than just the game

GREAT I HAVE NO WORDS THIS IS SO MUCH EFFORT I AM IN SHOCK SORRY FOR NOT ANSWERING YOU SO LONG!
I'd comment the lyrics that gave me goosebumps but its literally every single line 🔥
That is if I dont tear up
Gracias Dan Bull! ❤️
Got The Garden vibes from this man, glad to have some of the old Dan back. Great song man
The Garden... am I missing this title?
By the way, I am making a study for my master's degree about nerdcore scenes. Can you help me out? Can you give me like the first 10 nerdcore artist names that come to your head? Or at least 5?
@@PauloSousa-hu9up The Garden is an album by Dan Bull
Hey Dan, I'm not a father but I am a son (shocking, I know) and I didn't always have the best relationship with my father but I feel like this song speaks to me in a personal level. Thanks
YOUR A SON?????? IMPOSSIBLE YOU HAVE TO BE LYING!!!

well done Dan, one of your best for sure
It will go down in history as one of the bests ...
One of the very few pieces of media, not even just songs, that can make me almost tear
Thank you for this. I sincerely thank you brother. As a father of a son myself I get it. I've been a fan of yours for years but this one...Thank you

I love how you rhymed "I've" with everything else and made it sound beautiful.
this song makes me tear up everytime
I had alot going on but i stopped to listen to this when i saw it was dedicated to your son. I did not regret it.
Another piece of fire made by The Goated One this one's also being added to the playlist.
Dan truly is the Goat of Bars
You can definitely hear the characters growth and change in this one from the from the first one.
@@elias.t I think he is probably one of the oldest, in terms of being on the scene, nerdcore artists out there I think.

@@brandinwilkerson4990 Character progression and story telling as well as relatability all come together to form this great song for sure.

You have joke tracks, fun tracks, deep ones and then you have those - Metro, Last Guardian, the "Let's kick it to 11" tracks. And Boy, did you deliver. But not a boy anymore, aren't ya? A man, a father.
I'm proud of you. Good job.
Seeing my patreon name at the end scroll for the first time on such a banger of a song is on of the greatest pleasures I've had in some time!
Incredible work Dan. Beautiful and had me tearing up
Holy shit this was awesome. Amazing tribute, Dan. I hope ur son likes it!
This was a very sweet song Dan, Congrats for peace for Dan and his BOY!
My favorite song and probably the best song dan bull has ever made😢😢
Idk how old your son is now, but i’m guessing he’s pretty young. Anyway, sooner or later he’s gonna have to know about your youtube carreer and stuff. I’m sure he’ll be blown away by songs like this (Gow Ragnarok, Civilization, a plague tale, floodland, payday etc.) and their incredible lyricism, but i’m much more excited about him seeing the dick song, the fuck everything song, the thoughts on porn song, the south park songs, the overwatch tracer song and just being like “Wtf dad”.
Bro I am crying rn but great job Dan great tribute to your son
Dan bull God of song strikes again
This brings tears to my eye.
My favorite so far. Struggling not to cry.
I didn't know you had a son. I have always loved your music from my first time hearing the creeper rap to this very day. I feel like you represent gamers in a world where gaming needs more respect. Love your songs keep up the amazing work. 😄😄😄
Amazing lyricism. Good use of words❤
I like how dan said I March further then the finale deed is done got God of war vibes
Such a beautiful song. Definitely going to the Repeat a thousand times pile
Man, that deep growly base of "My son" Is Dope!
wow, the speedy start to the deep vocals that hit harder than a truck, you really struck a lot of heart strings with this one Dan, and I'm sure your son agrees.
Edit: whether or not this was intentional, i do like how you used similar lyrics to your GOW rap 4 years ago,
GOW The god father: (you might not need your father, your father needs his son and so I will march father, till the final deed is done)
GOW rap: (he needs his father, his father needs his son and so we march on deeper 'til the final deed is done)
I think I saw someone mention that particular reference to the first GOW song yes, I think it was intentional.

@@PauloSousa-hu9up Dan bull and rocket music are the first to come to mind. tryhardninja is another, but I don't know if he is ocnsidered nerdcore or not
Corey mccabe here once again thankyou my good sir your son is truly blessed to have you as his father always a fan
You should call yourself Corey Mcbabe
To be clear that's meant to be funny, don't make it weird
Yooo your vocals on this really match the vibes
What is a king to a god?
*WHAT IS A GOD, TO A NON BELIEVER*
Its... i cant express this.. love you Dan ❤️
Love ya Dan. Cool song and tribute. Right in the feels.
