Millions and tens of millions were killed in WW2 just five years ago(1939~1945). It is doubtful that the claim that humanity would perish if nuclear bombing in Manchuria was the result of a sober analysis of rhe international situation at the time.

My son, a junior in high school, often recounts discussions in his English class - his teacher often discusses politics or history with a political spin. The other day during one of our discussions which involved native american history to the great depression he asked, "How do you know so much about this?"... my response... "I learned it in school". He was stunned at what is no longer taught in school. I agree with you, it is nothing short of heartbreaking.

Every human culture has practiced some form of slavery at some point in their history.
European and American slavery was unique because the people who practiced it decided to put a stop to it themselves. In our case, we were willing to fight the bloodiest war in our history to end it.
The Arab slave trade lasted far longer than the European and American slave trade, killed more Africans, and did not stop because of their own decision. The Arab slave trade ended because the British (a bunch of white dudes) FORCED them to stop it.
Fast forward to today? The Arabs are trying to bring the slave trade back. Is anyone in Europe or America? No? That's not a coincidence.

The communists want an autocratic state based on Marx’s philosophy and universally take power by starting a rebellion and setting things on fire until the people have no choice but to bow.

When I see comments like these - that congress shall make no law establishing a religion - I have to ask myself why? Why would you feel the need to say that? It's part of the basic education and a part of the reason the US was formed. They agreed to have no official 'state' religion like other countries do. You can't be penalized for practicing your religion, as long as you don't violate any federal laws - and that's it.
So, you're free to believe in whatever you want - and you have the free speech to be able to say whatever you want about your own, or anyone else's religion.
That being said - the United States are a result of Christians, and very devout ones, at that. There's religious references all through the original papers, the private letters, and all government official documents. They reference a belief in a God, but you are allowed to have whatever relationship with your idea of the Divine, Infinite Is that you want.
Washington did his best to live a Good Life according to the mores and beliefs of his time.
Why would you feel the need to comment on what Cheryl Royal stated?
      Honestly baffled.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
That's ^^ the First Amendment in it's entirety. No first sentence, no quibbling. Think about where they, the Founding Fathers came from. Europe was/is a mess of religious wars, minor battles and populations being hunted because of their religious beliefs. England was/is a hotbed of religious based killing. The history of England/Britain is basically, one religion or sect doing it's level best to wipe out another religion or sect. Do I even have to mention Protestants versus Catholics? Or the fact that the Protestant church was practically created, and made a requirement for the citizenry, by an English king? Should I point out that for a few hundred years every change of leadership signaled a new change in which religious sect would be hunted and which would be supported? Britain is covered in ruins of convents, churches, friaries, and many historical homes have "priest holes" where they could hide religious materials and priests.
It's well known by anyone who has looked into the hows and whys of the phrasing (lots of historical work has been done. Feel free to research.) that the Founding Fathers wanted to avoid *that* kind of unreasonable killing in the name of God. They were all Christians, but they wanted everyone to understand that, unlike Europe where you could be killed for being Catholic under a Protestant ruler or vice versa, all beliefs were equal under the newly forming government. This is why you can still see the effects from the first waves on refugees - the Irish brought Catholicism en mass to the Eastern Coast; Methodists settled in the mid-west; Protestants followed the settlers and set up cities and governments.
I oversimplified American history greatly but, in the broad sweeps of my brush, I did tell the truth.
No one excluded anyone, let alone God. The Founding Fathers were tired of war. Tired of fighting. They wanted a peaceful nation, one overseen by citizen-soldier-politicians. They wanted people to have a safe place to live and worship as they wanted, provided they didn't take things too far (the whole argument of "your right to swing your arm ends where my nose begins", and other simplifying statements). By releasing the idea of a "state church", they freed the worship of God. That the First Amendment would later be used to protect The Satanic Church, various flavors of Paganism, and random pop-up "Honest, we're not a cult!" groups just goes to show how "free" religion is allowed to be in the US.

If we all ran like chickens without heads ignoring God, of course they'd have chaos. We'd just rely on simple inadequate analysis of morality and reason in life. When in reality, God himself IS the standard of life- what I mean is God is the truth :) You see how petty people can be and how horrible situations could've escalated if the wrong people, places or things were in the wrong places at wrong times. It's like this feng shui of how God orders the world. The human race must go on. There has to be the hope for love. Do you really think the human race would have come this far if this logic wasn't at work? You don't even have to look at mankind as a whole. Look closer at your own generation, do you really think that your generation would've come this far if God didn't shape the world?

      Seek life?
I don't think "great stuff like this happens by chance". I think that people, acting like people do, took their lives and beliefs into their hands and did the best they could.
When/where did I choose to be delinquent? Did I suggest that delinquency is a viable option for societies? I don't *think* I mentioned anything about it. In fact, I stated that religion and religious beliefs are strongly tied to the United States formation and is omnipresent in it's documentations, official procedures, and daily workings. I don't think that God is separate from the government, but that people who believe in God (to be fair, people who believe in whatever they believe) set up and continue to keep Society in the U.S. running.
I'm saying that an official 'state church' is not a thing in the US. Not that you aren't free to think and/or believe what you want. Just that no one is going to be knocking on your door to haul you away for 'wrongful beliefs'.
Please don't try to create "straw man" arguments and attribute them to me. I have yet to say what *I* believe, or whether or not I agree with the historical facts. I have yet to voice a private opinion on religion at all. Pretending I have, or that you can somehow divine what I think, is wrong.

He had many fails as a general as well as victories and never would have won the war without French Spanish and Dutch support. I see him as a great man and have much respect for him. That said I think its foolish to compare him to anyone from today because no man will ever come close to his greatness and I think its an insult to him to say they are like him. I am sure people from all across the political spectrum can understand this view and respect it. So i hope it is not taken badly. What was impressive to me is he treated Martha as his equal. Their marriage was far different from most in that she had a say. She and he discussed and made decisions together; they functioned complementary. It was in this way he could be away for long periods of time to do the fighting of the wars. She managed the estate. You, Sir, just sold a book. Thank you for your contribution and research. I spent many hours reading the prolific messages and letters between Washington and my forefather, Robert Morris, “Financier of the American Revolution”. The fidelity between these two founders was remarkable. One would never had assumed the then General Washington was who he was, so meek but compelling was his letters’ tone in promoting Morris to find supplies and monies for his army. The letters during war time were more like one friend to another, asking the impossible, knowing he was pushing for more than could be provided, but in a gracious and humble tone, never-the-less, motivating to the core.

‘If Jefferson was indeed so antislavery, then why didn't he release his own slaves? After all, George Washington allowed for the freeing of his slaves on his death in 1799, so why didn't Jefferson at least do the same at his death in 1826? The answer is Virginia law. In 1799, Virginia allowed owners to emancipate their slaves on their death; in 1826, state laws had been changed to prohibit that practice.’

the two-party system is an inherently stable system. when two parties have to win the majority of the country over, neither can afford to pick a position too extreme, lest it risks losing votes. this principle is what allows the two-party system to maintain the status quo so well, and in turn, a stable republic.

However, I need to say this. The British actually don't have the greatest land force at the time. The British were not weak but the military of France and Prussia is better than the British one. This is only about land force , not the Navy. The British had the greatest Navy at the time.

Not entirely true. The British had the most powerful Navy in terms of numbers, but the French and Spanish Navy could perfectly fight against it, that's why they United on plenty of occasions to take it down. About the land army, the British army was small yes, but the majority of "British" soldiers in the war were German mercenaries from Hessen.

@CK Lim How was it the most powerful army in the world? What sort of analysis are we using here? The evidence for that claim is non existent. The British lose land battles consistently at the war of Jenkins ear and Austrian Succession and Win in the 7 years war because of their naval victories against the French, impeding French troops from arriving at North America. The British lose in the war of Independence mainly because of the French and Spanish help. Both had interest of beating Great Britain. Without their help, the US would never have been born.

Republican as it Republic, we are a Republic and that is what he is referring to. When we became a Representative Republic when the Constitution was ratified, the rest of the world was pretty much ruled by Monarchs and some of them were absolute, the World has rolled over many times, yet we endure. Could things be better, yes they can, but I still would not trade what we have for whatever comes in second these days. And over the 244 years, we have elected some that were really lacking and then we have elected others that were great. Our country is like no other on earth.
