So I'm seeing three groupings of characters in this trailer:
Mage and Hammer Lady - The mage is attacked by the elf rogue, which makes me think this is an antagonist while the armored lady with the warhammer is seen next to this mage in one of the shots where the spirit seemed to be. This seems to be the same location as the ouroboros ring.
The Party - One dwarf with an axe, one lady qunari mage (vashoth, not true Qunari), one human rogue, one human warrior, and one Tevinter looking mage.
The Elf Rogue - I'm assuming she's part of the party, but curiously she doesn't appear in any scenes with them in this trailer. I'm guessing they take a little bit to meet up.
    What do you think?
Also, the disocunt code from my last video is still valid, 20% off your purchase at the Bioware Gear Store: BWDADWOLF

I do think the elf rogue is in one of the group shots, one of the slightly out of focus characters at the front of the party in the shot with the birds looks like they're wearing her blue cape thing? It has a similar collar and the figure's skin tone matches. Though I suppose it should also be suggested that the reason she's a focus of the trailer but largely seen apart from the other protagonist looking types is that she's an Agent of Fen'Harel....

IMHO, 'Absolution' is so much better than 'Dreadwolf.' I wish it WAS the new title. But I like the anime style and I have hopes the new show is awesome and pulls in new players, which is probably the aim.

I agree! Would be an amazing title for DA4. In line with previous titles.

The annoying thing about making a breakdown video is rewatching it later and realizing there were a few more things that needed to be noted:
The dragon statue near the start is chained, a direct Old Gods reference?
The ouroboros ring, the mage and hammer lady, and the spirit seem to be in the same location. The mage appears to be consulting the spirit about something.
The scene with the party walking by a river has a GIANT rib cage in it that the party is walking inside.
The undead appear to be elves

Oh! Those huge doors? Reminded me of the doors to a Thaig.

I will be watching it indeed. But after Witcher animated series I don't have much expectations. I hope I am wrong. Thanks as always for the video!!! 👍❤️

After the bit in DAI where Asunder and especially Masked Empire were basically homework for the game, I really hope that this is a fun self-contained story. I wouldn't mind if they did something like Dawn of the Seeker (except, you know, not terrible) where one of the characters is a party member of other major character in the next game, but that, like Cassandra summarizes Dawn of the Seeker in an early dialogue, they'll tell you the cliff notes when you talk to them. (My personal hope is the Qunari mage lady because I want a Qunari lady and a Qunari mage as a companion, but it might be the elf lady since she's gotten a lot of focus. Although, maybe this Qunari lady is an updated version of the one in all the concept art, idk.)

What so strange about the monument of Andraste in Tervinter? I believe they have their own cult with male priests, all of which are mages.🤔

They do, but not even Orlais builds giant statues of Andraste that on that kind of scale. The Anderfels does that, in fact they’re famous for being fanatical zealots and having the largest statue of Andraste in the world. By contrast we’re never been given the impression that Tevinter was ever so fanatical. So seeing this in Tevinter isn’t impossible, but it does feel a little off.

Andraste is not beloved in Tevinter despite the conversion. The conversion was for practical considerations and that Tevinters always believed the Maker existed. How could they trespass in a holy city if they didn't believe in said god that owns it existing? It's just the Old Gods were the top dogs until the Blights then afterwards only the Maker remained and showcased his power over them all for them to learn the hard way he's the only true deity of Humanity (besides the still existant minority of Old God Cultists). Dorian literally tells the Inquisitor that she's not considered holy nor bride of god just a Mortal MAGE of Tevinter origin (meaning she's a traitor to them).
Their version of Andrastianism is radically different to all the other forms we've seen (Yes we've seen more than the Orlesian Chantry...There was the Dragon Cult of Andraste and Promisers and Blades of Hessarian and Ameridan's hybrid faith) being Pro-Magic, Lenient on Blood Magic, Pro-Slavery, Patriarchal and the Andraste issue are major cultural differences (minus the Dragon Cult but they at least see Andraste as Divine)...To the point the Imperial Chantry really shouldn't be considered Andrastians honestly. Maker Believers yes, Andraste Believers no.
At best Andraste will be considered as a saintly martyr that HAD to die for the Maker's word to be known or something along those lines. In other words they will glorify her death as a necessary "evil" for the greater good and make no mention of any kind of resurrection or ascension. Opposed to the Andrastians of the South whole big deal being that she ascended to divinity.
In short the Vints obviously hate Andraste they wouldn't ever willingly allow or build the biggest statue of her. Anderfels it makes total sense as the most Devout Andrastian nation in the whole world even more so than Orlais.

I think bringing up the generic style of DAO, back when DA started out as a D&D ripoff, is a bit unfair, since the games have had a complete redesign in DA2 and DAI. Dragon Age is pretty visually distinct by now and one of its more striking visual characteristics is a strong color palette and striking sillouhettes (esp in character design). They could've utilized negative space with a limited colour palette like in DA2 or go for the colourful aesthetic of DAI, where everything is big and uses strong geometric shapes. Both DA2 and DAI have avery high contrast look. The comics adapted this pretty well. We see a little bit of that in the architecture in the trailer but the color palette is completely off and the character design is rather bland.

Yeah, I can see that argument. There is a lot of dark or sort of washed out scenes. Though I think it might be a bit premature to make that judgment based on this trailer.
There are some brief scenes, especially landscapes, that are pretty vibrant. And a lot of this trailer seemed to be taking place at sunset, at night, or underground. If those the main settings… yeah, that could be a problem

There are many references to the Ouroboros in the lore of Dragon Age. I am so excited for this show and the game! Also could that growl we hear when the logo appears be the Dread Wolf?
