I love it, it sure is most compact and perfect, and very practical and effective. I feel this rig is missing a side handle but that will compromise the storage part of it and perhaps balance will be an issue too.

Amazing. Incredibly powerful, capable, and compact RIG- how far we've come with the miniaturization of this technology in such a short time is just astounding. And you are right to be excited about finding the perfect balance with this rig. I also like that you emphasize the importance of fitting the rig in the camera bag without rebuilding. Seems like a small thing, but it really is the most important thing to some- whether that be specifically for travelling, or more generally speaking for reducing friction when it's time to create.

Brilliant! And if you connect a 1/8" cable to the Zoom F3's LINE OUT and the other end to the Camera's MIC input, the sound from the Zoom is recorded directly to the camera's audio tracks.
I like it and I’ll be using this as reference in the future. An issue I see is if you want to change camera settings, that cheese plate is in the way and may be a bit hard to see. Also, my a7iv may get a bit hotter with the display closed so during long 4k 60 shooting and may not be much room to open it unless you slide the camera up the u-base. There’s always something and finding the perfect handheld rig is a challenge. Not to mention, what is your budget..
Hey, thank you bro! Always it’s hard to make the perfect rig. For the display, you can let it open and close it just a half, at 90 degrees. I use the buttons so, for me it’s not hard to change the settings. I can see on the screen. You can try and see what’s the most comfortable solution for you :)

How do you start recording on the zoom while shooting? Do you have to click record on camera and the zoom? And will the 32 bit float work with line out into the camera? Just got a zoom and someone said if you run the line out into the zoom it does not record 32 bit but I could be wrong. Great work on the build and videos ❤
Hey! I press record on the camera and also on the zoom, yes! I sync everything in post but I have great audio. The F3 has a 32-bit float. If you use the like out and record in camera, you won’t benefit from the 32-bit float because the camera can’t record 32-bit floats This is why I use the recording from the micro SD card :)
Hey may I ask why with the dual rods as "base" since you're not attaching anything else than a battery (like a follow focus?) It seems unnecessary added weight.
Hey! I I use them for 3 reasons! 1. The camera will stay better on the table without putting presure on the lens. 2. I hold the rig with my left hand on the road and pull the focus ring with my finger and it’s easy. 3. I attache the npf battery easy on the road in the back of the rig :)
Very nice setup! Question, I love using my gimbal, I’m afraid it would be a pain to have a rig like this at a shoot, and then want to remove camera for the gimbal. How would you approach adding a gimbal to a shoot while having it mounted to this rig, and only having one camera?
Hey bro! That's a hard one :)) Most of the time I need to break this down and put the camera on a gimbal. I keep the cage but it's hard. When I have jobs where I need to do this, I prefer to rect the second camera and use one on the gimbal and one handheld. It's annoying but... Uncomfortable to put this together all the time.
I´m trying to mount something similar with my gear. I´m getting so much static if I connect the zoom f3 to the camera from the line out to the headphone jack! Apparently I need a ground loop isolator, whatever that is. Do you experience the same issues? I have already told you, but I love your bag! Which one it was again?

Hey! I don't truly don't know the reason and I think it depends on the airline company. Some of them will ask to take apart some won't. It's up to the security most of the time
And is it possible to connect the dummy battery in the camera to the monitor in which the NP F battery 970 is installed? I.e., the monitor in which the NP F battery is located will be a platform for NPF batteries.
I've made a rig very similar to yours. But I found mounting the battery like you did (which I tried before) forces the battery to hang off the back. Personally that didn't work for me

You can connect the F3 to the camera and the zoom f3 will apply a limmiter to have the perfect sound, but in camera the final recording is not 32 bits because camera can’t record 32 bits. But you can record in booth and have the 32 bits one in zoom if you need it. And yes, you have Phanton Power :)

If you record with your shotgun and also record the audio from the mixer, what do you use to connect your F3 to the mixer since you keep it on camera with the shotgun connected to it? I’ve seen people connect the F3 directly to the mixer and then connect the shotgun directly to the camera, but this sounds like both sources are going to the F3. Thank you!
Hello. Oh, no, when I record from the mixer I use another recorder or I just ask the sound guy for the recording. But no, I can’t record from the mixer and my shotgun and also move. Most of the time I use a second recorder. Thank you!

Hey! Yes! You can add a 3.5 mm jack from the line out and connect it to the camera. The audio it's excellent but the camera won't record 32 bit float. You will have 32 bit float just in F3.

It depends! If you want 100% to record in camera, go with the handle. If you don’t mind to sync the audio use the F3. The quality of F3 is incredible. I like it because I can use it on my rig, in my studio, on my desk… the versatility is tremendous.
You can't put an SSD through Type C. Through the platform on which NP F stands, you can connect an SSD to which connector, since all type C connectors are occupied?
You need to start the recording on the Zoom, but it’s a small price to pay for 32 bits float. For me It’s more important to have a good sound than just to press a button. But you can plug a 3,5 mm jack from zoom to camera and record in camera with the limiter applied from the zoom.

Al tău văd ca e gândit bine, și foarte cool de altfel. Dar geanta e pe departe preferata mea. Neaparat sa îmi achiziționez și eu una. Sincer eu ori merg cu ea demontata și o montez la fata locului( 10 min lejer , poate și mai mult) , sau plec cu ea gata montata, și o țin pe scaunul din spate ancorata in centuri 😂, safety first. Dar cateodata imi tine cablurile atașate de camera in tensiune ceea ce nu e un lucru bun. Felicitari încă o data și mult mult succes!🤗.PS. Stii cumva cum se numeste geanta care o folosești? Hello! If you buy a cage specific for ZV E10 yes! You can use a top handle, an NPF battery etc. If you want to mount a zoom F3 and a mic like me, try to find a cage for ZV E 10 with two cold shoe mounts on top or mount the mic in another place. You need to work a little bit :)
You can connect a cable from the F3 to the camera but your camera can’t record 32 bits float. So, if you want 32 bits, you need to press record on the Zoom recorder 😀

@@GabrielVIP The USB C port on the camera itself is occupied by an SSD drive installed there. Therefore, is it possible to supply power to the camera itself, if the battery is not inside the camera, from an NPF battery that is installed on an external monitor?

Yes! Search on Smallrig website or Tilta, Nitze, they have super good cages for FX3. Just need to be a little creative and search for the right adaptors and mounts. 🙋🏻♂️🤗

@@GabrielVIP Thanks… I know the recording will not be 32 bits, just need to have it recorded on the camera. I have a Sony a 74 and it has AGC and limiters in it and no manual recording. Trying to find a way to override it. Would this make the sound better if I kept the volume down on my camera 21 or three? And adjust the output on the zoom FX3? Boo owns Sony for not having manual in their audio. You should make out video out of that. If you can answer my question thank you so much!

one problem I see with this....if you are going to shoot 30 videos 1minute to 10 minutes in length each...when you sync in post it is like putting a puzzle together...I see that the GH7 records 32 bit....but for Sony shooters...32 bit is not an option if you are going out on a shoot and doing a bunch of videos over the course of a few hours...syncing in post would be a nightmare...
Hello. I am used to it, and I move super fast to sync but yes, it's an extra step. If you want, you can connect the line out from the F3 to the camera and record super good sound but it's not going to be 32 bit in camera. But you will use the internal F3 recording just if you have problems.

Hey! I don't truly don't know the reason and I think it depends on the airline company. Some of them will ask to take apart some won't. It's up to the security most of the time
And is it possible to connect the dummy battery in the camera to the monitor in which the NP F battery 970 is installed? I.e., the monitor in which the NP F battery is located will be a platform for NPF batteries.
If your monitor has an output of 7.4v, yes! It really depends on your monitor.

I've made a rig very similar to yours. But I found mounting the battery like you did (which I tried before) forces the battery to hang off the back. Personally that didn't work for me

Can the Zoom F3 be connected to the camera via the mini jack port (microphone interface)? Does Zoom have phantom power?
Hey! Yes, and yes. You can connect the F3 to the camera and the zoom f3 will apply a limmiter to have the perfect sound, but in camera the final recording is not 32 bits because camera can’t record 32 bits. But you can record in booth and have the 32 bits one in zoom if you need it. And yes, you have Phanton Power :)

If you record with your shotgun and also record the audio from the mixer, what do you use to connect your F3 to the mixer since you keep it on camera with the shotgun connected to it? I’ve seen people connect the F3 directly to the mixer and then connect the shotgun directly to the camera, but this sounds like both sources are going to the F3. Thank you!
Hello. Oh, no, when I record from the mixer I use another recorder or I just ask the sound guy for the recording. But no, I can’t record from the mixer and my shotgun and also move. Most of the time I use a second recorder. Thank you!

Can you get audio in the Zoom F3 and the Canon R7 Camera at the same time?
Hey! Yes! You can add a 3.5 mm jack from the line out and connect it to the camera. The audio it's excellent but the camera won't record 32 bit float. You will have 32 bit float just in F3.

How are you powering the Zoom F3? AA or NP-F adapter USB?
Hello. Most of the time AA. It lasts for an e tire day and I forget about the F3. But you can power it with USB C super easy.
Do you find the Zoom F3 better than say the Sony XLR handle?
It depends! If you want 100% to record in camera, go with the handle. If you don’t mind to sync the audio use the F3. The quality of F3 is incredible. I like it because I can use it on my rig, in my studio, on my desk… the versatility is tremendous.

You can't put an SSD through Type C. Through the platform on which NP F stands, you can connect an SSD to which connector, since all type C connectors are occupied?
SSD connected to a7sIII? No. It doesn't work.
Do you have to start sound recording on the zoom recorder before you stat recording or can recording on the camera trigger the recording to the zoom?
You need to start the recording on the Zoom, but it’s a small price to pay for 32 bits float. For me It’s more important to have a good sound than just to press a button. But you can plug a 3,5 mm jack from zoom to camera and record in camera with the limiter applied from the zoom.

Hey! No! But you can buy a cage dedicated for A73. You can find on smallrig site. The rest are the same. Just buy the proper cage and build it :)

Salut! Imi place rigul făcut de tine. E foarte compact și balansat. E foarte aerisit fata de alte riguri care le-am mai vazut.( cabluri peste tot, era ca un puzzle) . Al tău văd ca e gândit bine, și foarte cool de altfel. Dar geanta e pe departe preferata mea. Neaparat sa îmi achiziționez și eu una. Sincer eu ori merg cu ea demontata și o montez la fata locului( 10 min lejer , poate și mai mult) , sau plec cu ea gata montata, și o țin pe scaunul din spate ancorata in centuri 😂, safety first. Dar cateodata imi tine cablurile atașate de camera in tensiune ceea ce nu e un lucru bun. Felicitari încă o data și mult mult succes!🤗.PS. Stii cumva cum se numeste geanta care o folosești? Ca as cumpara și eu una , iar in lista de componente la descriere nu am găsit-o . Mercy frumos! 🙏
Salut si multumesc frumos. Da, geanta e super importanta. O gasesti in Romania la F64 si nici nu e scumpa. Cat despre cabluri, e super important sa fie totul aranjat frumos. Nu suport sa fie cabluri incurcate si sa ma agat de ele :) 👍🤗

Hello! If you buy a cage specific for ZV E10 yes! You can use a top handle, an NPF battery etc. If you want to mount a zoom F3 and a mic like me, try to find a cage for ZV E 10 with two cold shoe mounts on top or mount the mic in another place. You need to work a little bit :)

You can connect a cable from the F3 to the camera but your camera can’t record 32 bits float. So, if you want 32 bits, you need to press record on the Zoom recorder 😀

Yes! Search on Smallrig website or Tilta, Nitze, they have super good cages for FX3. Just need to be a little creative and search for the right adaptors and mounts. 🙋🏻♂️🤗

@@GabrielVIP Thanks… I know the recording will not be 32 bits, just need to have it recorded on the camera. I have a Sony a 74 and it has AGC and limiters in it and no manual recording. Trying to find a way to override it. Would this make the sound better if I kept the volume down on my camera 21 or three? And adjust the output on the zoom FX3? Boo owns Sony for not having manual in their audio. You should make out video out of that. If you can answer my question thank you so much!

one problem I see with this....if you are going to shoot 30 videos 1minute to 10 minutes in length each...when you sync in post it is like putting a puzzle together...I see that the GH7 records 32 bit....but for Sony shooters...32 bit is not an option if you are going out on a shoot and doing a bunch of videos over the course of a few hours...syncing in post would be a nightmare...
Hello. I am used to it, and I move super fast to sync but yes, it's an extra step. If you want, you can connect the line out from the F3 to the camera and record super good sound but it's not going to be 32 bit in camera. But you will use the internal F3 recording just if you have problems.

Hey bro! NO! It’s easy to sync in post and I prefere to spend frew minutes to do that but have a good sound. It’s a nightmare for me to deliver bad sound for my clients 😁
