I got this on VHS tape for Christmas back in 1985 and every time I'd play it (at least once a week) my Mom would sit with my brother and I and watch it with us. This was the next to last song during this concert. Geoff had been belting it out all night at this point. Absolutely one of the finest vocalists in ANY genre during his time.
he was trained by his grandmother who was an opera singer.. he is a true baritone with a 5 octave range and a lot of people are missing some very serious fact about this video.. this was the next to the last song of the entire set... yes.. but what these people talking about that are missing... is they had already played a set a few hours before... that is talent and the energy used is crazy... and this being a second go around for his voice after almost another 1+ hrs is amazing... that makes this probably one.. if not the best live performance of all times for an 80's metal band... perhaps of all time... he still nails those high e's and a's like it ain't no thing.. he makes vocal teachers and female opera singers jealous at the ease he does this all the while being a true baritone and running amuck on stage..edited to add something I forgot.. chris the guitarist getting all the video time is almost the same range as geoff in vocals...
Been listening to them since the 80’s and I love them! Not a day goes by that there’s not music in my house! Yes we’re in our 60’s now😉 but STILL LISTEN and can throw it down quite frequently😂! Crank that sh** UP!

That's an E5 (E in the 5th octave!) that Geoff effortlessly hits 3 times in this song. Crazy high for a male singer, and it's SUNG, not screamed. WOW! Whole band is just amazing! Hope you do MORE QUEENSRYCHE!! They have such a variety of songs. I never get tired of them!
I was 17 when their debut album the warning came out which is the album this song is on and was blown away. The whole album is solid and to today one of my favorites. Also check out Ronnie James Dio whether when he was fronting Rainbow, Black Sabbath or his own band Dio. Those kids out there head banging, that was me at that age.

Geoff Tate live vocals were untouchable in the 80's. Super tight band live. Scott Rockenfield on drums. Chris DeGarmo on guitar. One of the greatest live bands ever. Tight, tight, tight. Queensryche from the 80s is much heavier music that the fluff from the 90's.
You need to watch the live video for Suite Sister Mary. It’s probably just as good as this. Plus you get the added bonus of Sister Mary singing with him. It’s just magical stuff.
This band was always on point live. In my opinion their live shows were better than their studio versions because of their musical perfection and the raw energy that flowed from the stage to the crowds
