    Makes British Cycling look ridiculous. Most nations would love to have a team like these guys...

      i didnt understand why british cycling didnt accept them as their official guys for the national team?

    • @bitchoflivingblah
      @bitchoflivingblah 5 лет назад +45

      @@mechwar Because it undermines the whole point of British Cycling being a training ground for 'elite' cyclists. The whole premise of British Cycliing's funding is that what they do is unique and is the 'only' reason why we have won so many Gold Medals. This is true to some extent, but anything that challenges that perception would be dangerous.
      It isn't the first time this has happened, Nicole Cooke, World Champion in Road and Mountain biking, Olympic and Commonwealth Gold medalist was snubbed by British Cycling and they actively worked against her in races to break her down in order to demonstrate that their methods were superior. They lost.
      The UK is great because we have so many mavericks, Nicole Cooke and Graham Obree being two examples, and HUUB being the most recent fantastic example. It's no coincidence that each of them has had to fight battles to be accepted, allowed to race, and get funding. But, unlike many cyclists, they are the ones who will be remembered by all.

    5000 pound entry fee???? or Thailand?
    This is my pet hate of cycling the cost. $20 fee for club rides . $80 for state titles. Up to $200 for nationals. For fuck sake why? Everyone are volunteers? Then there's the $400 a year compulsory insurance. The compulsory qualifications and insurance for coaching. The restrictions because of sexual abuse of young men and women. This is why no one coaches for free at the local track.
    This is why I never made it. I went to Thailand. Ah for the good old days.
