    Thanks a lot for this very nice video.
    Luckily, I acquired this amp in 1995, because the accumulated inflation had been made it unaccessible for me today.
    Now I use it as the main system power amp, driving a pair of nice semi-active Mission 767 (with the LFAU unit plus the PSX additional power supply, of course).
    I started to drive them with the Luxman MQ-360 power amp, wich today I use exclusively for driving a pair of AKG K-1000 headphones.
    I think the Mc 275 is a wonderful valve design, with a full and rich sound, smooth and pin-point detailed at a time, never disappointing provided the speakers have both reasonably sensibility and efficiency (the Mission run real loud without distortion with this amplifier).
    I'm happy for owning this all-time classic, which is part of the best History of Hi-Fi.

    I've always admired McIntosh tube amps for the look as well as the sound.
    Looking to buy one, or more, of the 275 model in the near future.

    I have model V version driving a pair of Magnepan 3.7i with ease and lovely sound. Yet, added a pair of REL S5 subs with the system as well, wonderful airy mids to the mix.....

    I dated a girl 45 years ago, her dad had an old McIntosh amp and a old belt drive turntable, (can't remember the manufacturer) these were run through a pair of Klipsch corner speakers. Can't think of many systems today that can match that sound.

      Probably klipsch cornwalls. Solid setup.

    How would this compare to the PrimaLuna Evo amps?
    I am really confused. I want a nice well built tube amp and the PL has features that I really think are amazing but my hesitation is that it is assembled in China as opposed to the beloved brand McIntosh.

    Great review. This baby is so lovely. Wish I had a bigger listening room and I can justify getting it. I only run the Harbeth P3ESR in my listening room and that’s just nice.
    That’s a lot of tubes to replace when you want to do tube rolling 😬
    Did demo the MA252 and it also sounds nice too.
    Macs are really lovely kits.

      Bowers can be demanding speakers, hard to say see if you can get a demo and see.
      The 275 was giving me good bass control with the speakers I used it with but 804 might warrant a pair used in mono

    Hi, can you plug in different pin compatible tubes into this amplifier according to the "plug and play" concept ? Does it have autobias like the amps in the movie I'm going to insert here, or does it need selected tubes, or do you have to adjust the bias all the time ? ruclips.net/video/Ukfz3jnBbtU/видео.html

    Well well, the tubes are connected to a printed board. Just never change the tubes and you should be fine, as long as it won’t melt first.

      Cross Ocean the question is, point to point wiring and distributor caps and drum brakes, or the shortest path and electronic ignition and ABS. The former was great back then, the latter is now. Ask NASA.

    • @smelltheglove2038

      @@ramsaybolton9099 mounting tubes directly to the PCB is a garbage system. I’ve gone through a couple guitar amps due to this crappy design.

    • @ramsaybolton9099
      @ramsaybolton9099 2 года назад

      @@smelltheglove2038 you are correct to some degree. It’s all about design and implementation. Using the correct tube sockets built with ventilation in mind, mounted at the correct height can make a difference. If not, you are correct. The MC275’s I looked at have tube sockets.

    • @smelltheglove2038
      @smelltheglove2038 2 года назад

      @@ramsaybolton9099 that’s the thing, there are no sockets, they’re directly soldered to the PCB. Also, I have a few amps from the sixties, two fenders and a supro, all point to point. They sound way better than the newer PCB models with the same names. In fact, they are releasing many new amps with point to point wiring at very high premium. It seems to me that they are realizing they had it right in the fifties and early sixties.

    I owned one, and it's very nice. Takes 2 months and you are already bored to death by the sound. Jadis is a lot better, Nagra even more, Spectral even more and Audio Note, sooooooo much more!

    • @ramsaybolton9099
      @ramsaybolton9099 4 года назад

      4 output tube in some of those audio notes can run you half the price of the Mac. Don’t go to bed or the cabin and leave them on.

    • @RealHIFIHelp
      @RealHIFIHelp 4 года назад

       @Ramsay Bolton True, it is possible to buy tubes for it that are a lot better than standard costing that much. But you can also settle with tubes only costing 50 dollars total. 300b and 211 tubes are some of the coolest sounding tubes on the market, but also requires a good amp for it to be worth the investment.
