Just went over to #Bikebandit.com and discovered they have removed my review because it is no longer on their website. This is my first experience with the #Shinko brand tires and it will be my last. Take my experience/info I have shared with you, read as many reviews as you can, research the brand as best as you can and then decide on your own whether or not you will buy these tires for your motorcycle. But don't say I and many others didn't warn you. UPdate September 2019- They did not back up their warranty. After three months of asking them to warranty or refund these tires I got nowhere. I gave up- just to much of my life energy being wasted here dealing with #Shinko and #Bikebandit and its so called warranty process.
I want to say that bike Bandit crashed my motorcycle engine send me the wrong spark plugs but I didn't check her for I stuck them in still the same on the website it does state that those spark plugs were exact fit.
ya the customer service is horrible at #bikebandit. They even removed my review of the tires from their website. Some folks believe I am exaggerating on the horrible customer service but hey they will learn when they need some type of help from #bikebandit customer service. Dude sorry to hear they did you wrong also. Such a shitty business. They will never get another dollar from me, ever.
@@TechnMoto yeah I can attest to it myself. I use RevZilla now a days for the most part bike Bandit did same shit removed my review and never emailed me back.
WOW so I guess #bikebandit is removing all bad reviews from their site. I tend to use #jpcycles and have never had a bad experience with them, so far that is.
This is insane. I’m a racer, I stuffed my street glide into a banked turn at 115. Theses tires work so well. Maybe you gotten a bad tire or balancing. Take care man🏁
I have the same problem with my nomad 1500 2001 since i put shinko 777 white flanges bullshit tires made from a factory with poor quality control. I cannot ride beyond 60mph without unstable ride especcially when there is wind. I falled to pass a truck on the fast lane which never happened before with my excedra tires. Now i understand why my kawa mechanic did not want to order me last year white flange tires since he new shinko tires are poor qyality. My kawa specialist is a racing driver. These tires are like you said, NOT robust enough to fit o a heavy cruiser even if they are « HD » written on the rear. I bought them since they were the only one available on the market.. i decide to ride only to work at low speed and I forbidden my girlfriend to ride with me until I get REAL quality tires like the ones I ordered recently (metzeller 888). I live in northern Quebec province and other like me on the vulcan forum are caught with these tires. I could KILL miself If I ride a highway speed with these shinko tires. My local dealer is not willing to give me a refound since i got them in June 2022 even if I ride only 2000km with them.
Same issues, just got changex mau front tire on road glide 2020 special, it is so wobbling when running below 70mph. So bad product. Thinking was cheaper than Metzeler ME 888, but feel sorry for shinko😢😢
i ran the 777 on my last bike , loved them and never had an issue. I worked in the tire industry for 15 years I have seen bad cheap tires and bad high end tires. i don't think its a brand issue.
It's not. The issue plain and simple is the tires are not designed for heavier bikes. People just don't take the time to research well enough. Then make excuses for making dumb decisions instead of being accountable and doing the due diligence. Granted, they may say that they are capable of use with a bigger bike, but does not mean they will have the best performance. That is why you have to research reviews which obviously this guy did not do. If this gentleman exerted the same amount of energy into researching the tires to begin with. The same energy he put into complaining about them. We wouldn't even have this video. 🤣😂😭
I been riding on a Shinko tire for two years no problem, slow n high speed so far all good I hope that it’s just a fluke that it happened, glad to hear you’re ok keep on riding Semper Fi Devil Dog
I'm sure it was a bad tire, it happens. My brother has used these in the past with out issue too. What really ticked me off per say was that neither Shinko nor Bikebandit did anything to make this right. I basically ate the price of these tires and installation. If they had replaced the tires for me or did something I would have done a follow up but nope they just gave me the run around until I went away. Once is enough for me to learn. Take care Marine
@@TechnMoto didn't you say in your video that you weren't willing to try them again? I'm sure Shinko would have gladly replaced them with a new set as negative reviews far outweigh the cost of one tire....just my two cents
Yes I would have but neither company helped me out to make this correct. After three months of trying I moved on and no longer am interested in their tires. What good is #shinko warranty if neither company backs it up? I lost a lot of money buying bad tires. Never again.
Common in all brands across the line. Shit happens. Shinko bought the motorcycle tire division from Yokohama and all of their technology. As we all know, they made race tires and more. They are a good tire and millions of reviews confirm this. As far as death wobble goes. Often a common large size HD issue. My 81 XS1100 is always fine with the Shinko 712 and they have insane life. The bike is no small slouch either. It is a pavement wrinkler that weighs 600lbs and runs an 11 second quarter mile. They do fine.
agreed but neither #shinko or #bikebandit helped me with this issue, I tried for three months, warranty is useless and I'm not willing to try these tires again considering all the money I threw away on this product
@Auckland357 nah man you can have a defect in any tire any brand I had a set of Bridgestone battleaxe on a gsxr I used to have and the same thing happened it's just every so often you get a bad one factory defect should be able to just bring it back warranty it
I'm on my 3rd pair and they last about 7 or 8k. They are better on lighter cruisers and last much longer too. I added an extra 5 psi to keep them a little stiffer, they've been great for me. My bike came with Metzelers and i replaced them with the same brand the second time, i aint paying $300 for one rear tire ever again.
Shinko tires have a balancing dot that has to be lined up with the air valve. Also air pressure is higher than what Harley Davidson recommends. Shinko 777 tires recommend 42 psi. You always set air pressure to what the tire manufacturer recommends . I have never had a problem with shinko tires. They grip awesome and give great confidence in cornering. Only draw back is I only get 5000 miles out of a rear and 8000 miles out of a front tire.
Defective tire is just that defective. No amount of air will fix it. My brother liked them too but because they wear out so fast he went back to Michelin
I have only heard of this problem with a Harley, not a metric. I've been happy with them for years on my Kawa Vulcan 900 cruiser, no problems no weird ride.
I agree with your review. I ride a lot, 15k to 20k every year. My current ride is an ‘02 Electra Glide. I’ve been through about half a dozen rear tires on this one since I’ve had it. My local shop talked me into running a Shinko rear tire earlier this year, to save some money and to get a faster turn around time. For the first, probably 1,500 miles or so, it was like the bike was skiing. When it was wet out, was down right terrifying. It was to the point I thought the shop messed something up during the tire change and service. After about 1,500 miles, it settled down and I didn’t have anymore problems. The bike handled just fine, including dragging the boards in the curves. I’m not going to say Shinko is a bad brand or makes bad tires, but I probably won’t run another set. Feeling unsafe on something that is already trying to kill you every time you get on it is not worth saving $80 to me.
I had an issue with The Shintos on my Harley breakout. Less then 5k and the center was scalloped in places. I have pics. It’s crazy for the amount of money these things cost. I swear they were retreads
Mine gave me a shake at 70mph. I put both wheels on my balancer and noticed a small flat spot on the circumference of the both tires. The carcass wasnt 100% true round. I replaced with Dunlops and bike is stable again. 777HD not good for a 850lb touring bike on the interstate. Shake
thank you for the feedback/comment. I am sure this will help someone who is trying to decide on whether or not to buy these tires. In my opinion definitely not a good tire and the customer service is even worst.
@@TechnMoto on a different note, they made my 03 FLHcui feel very nimble and light in handling below 70mph. Made the bike feel ligher and less sluggish in turning. Sticky too, almost sport bike feel. But I ended up giving them away after 500mi. on them.
I just bought a rear Shinko SE890 for my '17 Fat Bob. Not a single issue with the worn original Dunlop I replaced at any speed, except for the nail I picked up. As soon as I left the driveway with the new tire I noticed the instability. On our local I-75 I'm trying to prevent death wobbles at 70+ mph. Literally!! I keep alittle weight in my bags (tools) in case of emergency plus lunch bag for work. So I increased preload from 2 to 3 last night before I left work, but I stayed off the highway. So I didn't really test the result completely. But it felt a bit less unstable. I'm going to click one more to 4 and see what happens. I run 40 lbs. of pressure (cold) in the rear. The tire sidewall says 42 max. I have some adjustability. I also installed the Warrior fairing with no high speed issue at all, but then I added the shortest 7" windshield for the Warrior at the same time I found the puncture. So I never got to ride at high speed with the old tire/new windshield. So that may also be a factor in assisting in the wobble aerodynamically. All my fasteners are tight including the steering head. The new tire was balanced when I installed the wheel. I lined up the axle with the right amount of tension on the belt. It would seem that I got a bad tire too. Especially with all the negative comments on Shinko brand itself. You try to save a buck or 150 where ever you can. Thanks for sharing your death defying adventure. I like you have been riding for decades and is the reason we survive such moments of alarm when the last thing you want to do is panic. While I'm saving up for a new replacement tire I'll be trying to get the potential defective one to work. I'm silly like that.
I tried these not to save money but to do a review on them. I went into it having high hopes for these tires. But on the first ride on the highway everything went to hell from a bad tire to bad customer service to getting stuck with bad tires. Never again. Fu*k me once okay but you won't F**k me twice. Some things to check would be steering bearings, swing arm bearings, Trani bushings, wheel bearings, tire pressure and of course a bad tire as you already know. Anyhow I wish you luck and hope you get this resolved soon. be safe, ride safe, god bless.
@@TechnMoto yeah, I realized that. I had the same thought in mind. Not to review but to get more bang for my buck. I figured how could I go wrong with a radial rear for the HD no matter what the brand. I have a pair of Shinkos on my '81 XS1100. Both bias ply. No issues there, but maybe it's the radial itself. Bias good, radial not. From Shinko anyway. I'm beginning to think what I thought might happen when I ordered it. That it might not get along with the original Dunlop which certainly is a unique tread pattern.
@@user-if8nz2yo5n I change my tires in sets- usually for that reason. hope you get it figured out and I would be interested in hearing what the issue was/is.
@@TechnMoto I'm going to replace the front with a street tire. The Dunlops original tread pattern was more adventure block. Don't know why because the Fat Bob is a street bike. Not an adventure bike. I removed the windshield from the warrior and it definitely felt less unpredictable although more buffetting felt more familiar since I've been riding the bike for the last 5 yrs naked. I run 3"risor extensions which locates the fat drag bars high enough to break up the wind before it gets to my face. I'll keep you posted. Ride on!
I have the same tires and same issues. My bike didn't even wobble when I had my old bald tires on it, I get these and all the sudden death wobbles once I hit 60 and past
I am on my 3rd set of Shinkos 777 and love every set. Best tire I ever had. I think it is a problem with your specific tire install and balencing. I am on a Vtx 1800 heavy cruiser.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Just a defective tire. Which happens but the company I bought tires from did nothing for me. Lesson learned. I will say really liked how they stick to the road.
Genius how is install and balance issue when clearly tire has flat SPOT.You can't manufacture a flat yourself without leaving your bike same position for months. Its clearly manufacturing defect. You seem to think if you used high tech tire balancing somehow some miracle magically formed cured rubber holding its flat shape would pop right up because you put few grams of weight on rim! Simpleton!
Love this tire beats duncrap I've run shinko 777 for years on my fat boy and street glide I ran it in the rain in the desert high heat in canyons high speeds and slow speeds and over loaded this is the best tire I have ever ran and long life allways get over 10k miles I check my air press weekly
I hate to agree these tires stick to the road well and if you get one without a defect it is a decent tire for the money. My brother has had some good luck with Shinko tires but they don't last long at all on his Street Glide. Take care, ride safe and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Hello Sir! I learned a lot from video. It looks I have the same problems. My bike is unstable beyond 65 mph. Is it normal that the tech did not aligned the arrow on the flange with the air valve?? I have been told it has to be!
I needed to replace back tire on my 2020 Road Glide Limited, the guy at the shop convinced me to go with Shinko's. My ride went from 1st class canyon carving, precision handling machine to a chaotic unstable slushy piece of crap. They claim it is for "CRUISERS" as advertised, and that is most likely true. But giving it an 84 Load Index =1102lbs is definitely inaccurate and false! In my opinion the 777 are NOT FOR HEAVY TOURING BIKES, but they are perfect for Cruisers. I love curves and canyons to the beaches of Southern California. After installing Shinkos my ride is now unstable unresponsive and scary. I'm willing to bet that those who disagree are riding either cruisers and much lighter bikes or older touring bikes without the heavy tour packs, or they are chill and not aggressive. Everyone rides their ride, we can all agree on that. Your video is helpful, informative and well done. Thank you.
They claim the 777hd is made for these heavy touring bikes which is why I tried them. The worst part was #shinko and #bikebandit left me hanging. They gave me the run around for three months and I finally gave up cause I realized they weren’t going to help me. Put on Michelins and bike was back to normal. So many folks have had issues with these tires. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your time and believe your comment will help others.
Touring bikes aren’t slow turners like a cruiser due to steering head angles. Cruiser tires are for cruisers. I would rather “enjoy the go” as the bears say and not enjoy the whoa due to lack of feeling safe or pooping my pants during a death wobble.
I don't know how mount and balancing works but if the tires were defective how did the installer balance them in the first place? Is it possible a wheel weight fell off when riding? I had it happen with cars before. I'm really just curious because I had these on my bike. Shinko tires are on backorder in the US right now.
Any electra glide. Them bikes have death wobble. Same as a dyna. I've been running shinko for 10 years. Riding 8hrs at time. I ride a dyna lowrider. 21" up front. And 16 rear. 777s.
Great video. I wish I had seen it a week earlier. I just had this exact same experience on my Ultra with Shinko tires. Luckily, for me, the shop I purchased them from exchanged them for a more expensive tire, but my life is worth it. Like you mentioned in your video, as soon as I got on the bike and took off, I knew something wasn't right. The bike was pretty smooth at low speeds, but anything around 68 mph and up, the bike would wobble. They put two different sets of Shinko tires on before we went with a different brand.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us all. I have received some messed up messages from some folks who love and I mean love this brand and refuse to see all the faults with these tires. Way too many issues for me to ever recommend this brand. Especially after how I got screwed by #shinko and #bikebandit take care and stay safe
I think you got a bad apple in the batch. But it’s the not standing behind the product that is the real issue in my opinion. I’ve had a bad set of Michelin’s before but it was taken care of
After three months of trying I just couldn’t waste more of my life energy on this. I get it I too have had a bad tire from other brands but they always backed up their products. First time I have ever had such a difficult time and it did not get resolved. Thanks for taking the time to comment and have a great day. Be blessed
Hay brother I got the shinko 777 on my 99 ultra Electra glide classic in the back I was getting the wobble around the same speed as u , I had my wife follow me I got her up to 65/70 mph the ass was all over the place I slowed her down, and now she is going to the shop for new tire in the back , funny thing is that I live by j&p Harley shop witch is closed now they know the bike I have an said this is a good one 😔the size of the tire is 130/90 mc 73r I'm over it, not losing my life over it, been riding since I was 16 now 51, I bought this bike road it home over 200 miles nothing wrong until I put this tire on 🤬 never again 👊🏻
Wow have a Shitno front tire in my Amazon cart ready to order Thank you for the heads up watched your video deleted Shitno tires from my cart Got lucky and found a Dunlop my size on special only 20 bucks more You probably saved my life bro Like that color green on your Harley. AGAIN THANK YOU
You just helped make up my mind. Thank you. I'm going back to the old fateful Dunlop's because they haven't let me down once. I'll just have to wait till there available. Thank you.
@@TechnMoto unfortunately I've spent the last two weeks looking for tires and I've been unable to find a matching set so I'm just going to have to wait until they're available and keep on searching thank you
Bro, buy your tires from a reputable motorcycle shop. Theyll back their product and make it right w you 9 times outta 10 if it happens shortly after installation. Online has no idea what youve done w the tire or when it was installd. Online youre stuck most of the time. I have these on a Heritage Softail and I was iffy about them bc the 777 is a cruiser tire. Its in the shop as I type getting them installed. We'll see how they do. Maybe try Shinko Long Haul model comes in Heavy Duty 6-ply vs 4-ply. I had them on a Softail Custom and theyre like having superbike tires. And lastly, what color is your FL? Is it factory? Its an interesting combination. I like it.
@@lowrider96 this was just to see how good the tires actually were. Seems it all went sideways fast 😂. Any how the color is shade of lime green- not factory color
I was about to buy a set of these for my Electra Glide, good thing I watched your video, Not buying these as a result, Shinko needs to take care of their customers or lose sales like the one one i was about to make, thanks for the warning, Ride Safe
DON'T DO IT!!! Just put a new set of 777 hd white walls on my 05 ultra classic, great price, great looking tires. Have less than 100 miles on them. Around town, no issues (deceiving), gains your trust. Went on freeway distance ride today with some friends for labor day ride, but didnt get far, at about 75mph, bike started dancing side to side, couldnt keep it straight. IMMEDIATELY thought beginning of a death wobble, friends behind me seen it aswell, I started to slow down, regain control, and get over to take the next exit off the freeway. I've been a motorcycle rider for 27 years, and mechanic by trade. I IMMEDIATELY knew something was not right., Once stopped, other riders informed me these shinkos had a very bad reputation for this exact issue. Wish I had known. A less experienced rider might not of noticed till it was to late. This is a reoccurring issue with this tire brand, do your research. The speeds at which this tire starts to fail, will cause a crash that will seriously injure you and your passenger, and could very possibly kill you. !!!!!BUYER BEWARE!!!!! THE MONEY YOU'LL SAVE IS NOT WORTH YOUR LIFE.
Just bought shinko777 and my first Harley Davidson ultra classic this year. No issues around town, but 70+ very dangerous wobble. Glad i found this video i didn't think it was tires because there brand new, and never had a wobble on any sport bikes i had. Gonna take a closer look into these tires after seeing this video.
maybe you had an underlying problem i ride an 02 FLHT and have never had hint of head shake or wobble i used a radial shinko on front of 2000 K1200lt {raven} and it was bad but 777 Hd ON REAR IS GREAT I TOOK MY LAST FRONT SHINKO AT 34k miles and still had tread it lasted so long that it scared me on 02FLHT 7_8500 miles on rear super sticky in rain
I returned the Shinko 777 to the seller on eBay (Chaparral) and they refunded my cash on the tires, not the install. The Dunlops seem to be fine.. Over $200 per install...
You would think it would be easy to warranty these but I had no luck with #bikebandit, place I bought them from. Glad you were able to get your money back 👍 thanks for watching and commenting
Hey im having the same problem with my Shinko's and i bought them from Chaparral also. what did you tell them to return them since you had installed and rode on them?
Out of curiosity, the ones with the death wobble.. Did ya'll get the reinforced shinko 777.. They offer it without the reinforcement as well... Just curious..Thanks for the video and tire review.
These were the hd 777 made for heavy cruisers. To be fair if #Bikebandit or #Shinko had warranted these for me or somehow made it right I would have given them a chance. But they simply did not honor the warranty and gave me a run around for over three months. In the end I was out the money for bad tires and installation. Hope you have better luck with yours.
@@TechnMoto mmm me two. Honestly the main reason I ordered them was because of the whitewall option. I sure hope they don't have an issue. Thanks again
I even have « hd » white flanged shinko rear and front and they still are not stiff enough on their flanges and my bike slides when I turn on the highway just as if I could loose control if I would push too hard. My Kawa specialised tech knows my bike by hearth and if I had listen to him first in 2022 I would never bought shinko tires for a heavy bagger. From his opinion shinko is purely LOW quality unreliable tires. He got to refund twice tires from other customers and he won’t ever sell this crap again. I ordered from him high quality tires at about $200 total more with which I won’t hesitate to bring my girfriend safely for a tour. Shinko: No F…Way
Any update on this today's date 4-26- 2020 I have been considering in the shinko triple 7trying to find a quality tire for not an astronomical price Dunlop you know $300 a tire at our local dealer + $100 installation 200 the front plus another hundred for the installation. so I was thinking about trying a different tire you can't put a price on your life however just because you pay more doesn't mean you always getting better but this is definitely an seeing this
I'm done trying to warranty these tires. Long story short- I ate the money I spent on these and replaced them with a different brand. The company #shinko nor #bikebandit did nothing for me nor did they try to make things right. You do what you want. You just may get a good set and you'll be okay. who knows. I know there are guys out there who like them but I can not in good faith recommend these tires especially after being taken. take care
Glad you made it out of your high-speed wobble safely. It does happen even was fantastic tires. As far as the Shinko still, it looks like you definitely gotten a manufacturer and quality control Bypass. I'm surprised that those made it out of Korea. I've run sing codes for a long time now and have not run across a bad tire. My point in that is not saying that what you have is good and you don't know what you're talkin about, it is that sometimes one just gets by and unfortunately you found it. Don't writes company off yet, they do make a quality product 99% of the time.
Lee Griffith I would like to back them up but after 3 months trying to warranty the front tire I got no where and had to eat the price of both tires. Your correct I am not a pro just a customer who was treated poorly by both companies- the retailer and #shinko. Anyhow thanks for taking the time to comment I appreciate your time. Ride safe
@@TechnMoto Honestly, I've never had to try to do warranty on them. If I ever did have to though and I went through what you did, I'd probably hang my head up on it too. Well, sounds like you're going back to michelins, I think it was michelins. Enjoy all your future rides and keep'em safe.
The moment I put these tires on I knew I messed up. The rear is oval shaped and the front is a flatter profile. In turns it feels like they are arguing with each other. The back end wants to lean but the front tire wants no part of it. 80-90mph sweepers are very unsettling. I’d call it “pre tank slappers” handlebar starts to wiggle. I can’t wait to these off my bike
I had the same problem and it was either the way the tire was stored or build. I don’t buy Shinko for front tires. I only use Shinko for a rear tire on my zx14.
Shinko are for me the best tires ever on my fatboy! But the pressure must be higher than the harley (dunlop) tires. On the rear I drive with 2.8bar (40.6 psi) en in the front 3.1bar (45 psi) for the record, I have been riding with dunlop, metzler, michelin, pirelli. God thanks I have never a factory fail. Good luck, and I hope you will find the best brand tire for your!
To tell you the truth I liked how they stick to the road. My brother has used them in the past with no issue but he complained they did not last but one season. The major issue I had is getting the tires warrantied, after three months I gave up on the cause. Ended up being a huge waste of money for me. I went back to michelin tires, good long lasting touring tire with no issues. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
@@TechnMoto I know what you meen, soft compont is less milles, I think its also have to do where you are living! If you are from a state with lots off sun or rain. I'm from belgium europe, a lots of rain and cold wheater over here. Ps:sorry for my english 😁
I been running thes tires on my 2000 flh with no issues what so ever three back tires to the front one. You must of got one bad one or install.and I’ve traveled high speed 80mph and 110 at times no issues
Many folks have had bad experience with this brand. Just read the comments here or do a search. This was my first set bought for a review and as you know it did not go well. Unfortunately after trying for three months to get help with this issue I was out the money for the tires and the install. Went back to Michelin Commander II and bike was back to riding good as it did before these #shinko tires were installed. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I bought my 2013 fjr1300 last September from a dealer in Seattle. My only reservation was the brand new set of Shinko tires that the dealer seemed to think was a selling point. The tires now have 2500 miles on them, and the front tire has developed prominent bubbles at regular intervals on the tread at every point where the tread carries a certain pattern. The bubbles are soft to the touch and are obvious points of separation in the structure of the tire. There is also a wobble if I rest my hands on the grips rather than holding them solidly. I am having the tires replaced with A spec Pirelli Angel GT II’s next week, and you couldn’t pay me enough to trust my life to Shinko ever again. Period.
Amen brother. Glad you caught that before it became an accident. I can’t figure out how this company #shinko stays in business with so many issues with their tires. Their is just to many to be coincidental. They screwed me on my set. Had to eat the price of those but i rather do that than trust a bad tire with my life. I went back to Michelin and been happy ever since. Take care and thanks for sharing your story.
I have the same EXACT issue! No wobble before I put them on and wobble at same highway speed. Put a new front on and marginally better but still wobbles around 70+. Will probably fo with Dunlop Elites. Your opinion on those tires?
Sorry never tried those before but they have to be better than that shinko tire. I have used Bridgestone, metzeler and now Michelin commander two. All good tires for one reason or another. Sorry to hear about the bad #shinko tire. Hopefully the shop can do a refund on it.
Good to hear. I just received a bad one but what made me upset was that after trying for three months to warranty a tire all they did was give me the run around and in the end I lost my money to buy and have them installed. In my book if a company does not back up their warranty why would I go back to them and give them more of my hard earned money? No thanks. But I am glad they have worked out for. Hopefully you never get a bad tire or you may find out exactly what I went through. Take care, ride safe and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
The Shinko's are good tires. The problem is the bike. Tires don't cause the death wobble. I rode a set of these tires 4k miles round trip from Ohio to South Dakota plus sight seeing with a bad bearing on the transmission output shaft where the sprocket bolts on. Just the play in that bearing caused the rear end of the bike to sway back and forth as the bike traveled over the dips on the highway at 85mph. I thought it was the Shinko Tires. But it wasn't. I stuck a prybar on the drive sprocket and found the problem. I ended up replacing the transmission and that solved the problem. If you ride your bike in a high heat area at speeds of 80mph you should change the tire every season because the high heat and cold will dry rot the tire internally and it will come apart.
Their so good that they have a ton of complaints about them. Funny how the motorcycle had no problem before I had these installed and again after I had Michelin tires installed. The worst part is #shinko left me hanging. Shinko tires are junk with a useless warranty.
@@TechnMoto The Shinko's are softer tires and grab the road more and sway the bike if there is: 1. Worn swing arm bushings. 2. Worn swing Arm mounts. 3. Worn transmission output shaft bearings. AND my bike swayed all over the highway when I put the shinko's on it because the transmission output shaft bearings were worn. The New Shinko 777 H.D. are Heavy duty Kevlar belted now. Those would be worth trying. Since all the other tires we have used lost big chunks out of the tread areas. (except the Shinko's). The New Metzeler Cruisetec also looks promising. I was just looking at a pair that will replace the Michelins that came apart. It is a very heavy duty tire.
I've been running 777 s on the front ofy vulcan 2000 classic exclusively for 6 years wouldnt run anything else as allother tires have cupped badly, wobbled or wore out prematurely! This is a 1000 lb. 125 ci. Cycle very happy with the shinko
I first watched this video the day before I was booked in to have a couple fitted to my Triumph America. I seriously considered cancelling but I really had no other options as supply here in Australia at the moment due to Covid is scarce plus I needed whitewalls which are almost non existent. Anyway it’s been a week and I’ve put about 100miles on them both solo and two up and I have to say they are a vast improvement over the Dunlop K555’s that were on it. If anything changes I’ll come back and edit the comment but so far I’m loving them and I ride with the foot boards scraping many times every ride.
My brother has #shinko tires too. He likes them but he says they don’t last long. If they had exchanged or made good on the warranty this would have been a different story. Instead #bikebandit.com and shinko left me hanging. What a mess going back and fourth for three months until I realized it was not worth my energy. I am glad they worked out for you and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
Thanks for your review. I have Shinkos on my CB400N Honda. The bike does not feel good on the highway. I thought it might have been the fact its such a short wheelbase bike but now I'm keen to get the tyres checked to see if thats the real culprit
Good idea. Not saying it is the tires but good to check. Doesn’t hurt to have the bike checked at the same time. Their is many things that could affect stability at higher speeds. Take care and stay safe out there.
Not designed for the full big bagger, they are designed for a cruiser. I absolutely love the shinko’s on my cruiser and will replace with the same 777’s. They way outperform the Metzlers and Dunlop’s I have run before.
Techn' Moto someone lied to you. They make a tire specifically for a big bagger application. The 777 was designed specifically cruiser style bikes. I contacted Shinko directly before I purchased mine. I love them, best tire I have ridden on a cruiser. Way better than the big dollar tires
Techn' Moto ya it definitely looks like it had a defect for sure. It to bad that was your experience with shinko’s. I have never been happier with a bike tire finally. I have put some serious loaded miles on these with the wife on some long runs. They don’t follow the black snakes on the road and have great wet traction. Have never had them even twitch in some heavy rain. But if they do something for you I would enquire about the tire they designed for baggers
Jack & Katharine Juby my brother tried a set he liked them but said they wore out faster than other brands. No it is clear that #bikebandit will not do anything for me except give me the run around. Three months of dealing with them I finally had to move on. Just not worth my energy
tires are funny my dad had a ford pickup went to two line up shops, told the one horse town mechanic his problem guy told him to change tires so he did that and it stopped vibrating. this is how it works today they got your money so screw you.
unfortunately your are correct. companies just don't seem to care about customers. too bad cause I was really trying to work with them for a solution. in the end I just bought new tires and problem was gone. never again will I purchase from #bikebandit nor #shinko.
Really bad experience with these tires and after chasing the company for three months to warranty or refund the tires I had no luck. In the end it was a waste of good money. #Bikebandit.com and neither #Shinko cared to help me out with these defective tires. Take care and glad I could help.
First off, glad you are doing ok and did not get injured,,,my guess is either a bad batch OR somewhere along the lines in storage the tire incurred damage,,,there are FAR too many great reviews on this tire than are bad ones all across every motorcycle fourm and purchasing web site, people really seem to like this tire, if there was a true molding or production issue, people would really be getting killed and savy laywers would have a field day with this,,,BTW I have these on order and will post back to you once I have tested them
I have the same problem but jp cycles the exchange the tires for free now my bike Vulcan 900 runs like a limo Now I’m happy with 777 shinko tires in my bike
if the company that sold me the tires would have made good on the tire warranty this would have been a different story. Instead #bikebandit and #shinko left me hanging and out over $300. JP Cycles so far has been a good company to deal with, for me. They have always come through when I had an issue with something.
WOW...This was exactly what I was looking for as I already had the Shinko 777's in my cart and ready to purchase. For all the work & time spent in changing the tire, I will just spend the extra $60 for something proven.
Good call. After three months of trying to warranty these tires with #shinko I got no where and had to eat the cost of these. Went back to Michelin touring tires the commander 2
There's a few people in Amazon reviews complaining about the wobble over 75mph. People are saying to raise the tire pressure. *Shinko 777 Front Tire (80/90-21 Reinforced)* and *Shinko 777 Front Tire (90/90-21)* Maybe ill get this *Dunlop D404 Front Motorcycle Tire 80/90-21 (48H)*
i have over 10000 on my Shinko tires with no complaints they ride smooth at low and high speeds for $150, I've spent way more on worse PROVEN tires lol they are good tires this guy may have just not mounted or balanced them correctly.
For a dirt bike a Shinko tire would do but I would recommend a tire used by Harley. A rough estimate was you saved a little less than a penny a mile…a little light on value IMO. Also any tire dealer should back up the warranty if competent. Bikebandit sounds true to the name.
This wasn't about saving money it was more of a tire review that went south lol. Bikebandit is no longer in business (google it) and I know why. lol Hey thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate your time spent here.
Wow! That tire sure is flat. When the tire didn't feel good in the beginning, I totally would have inspected and remove it right away. I would image that you are getting push back on the warranty due to the mileage put on the tire or time since purchased... If it was good for X miles... it must not have been a "bad tire" they MIGHT be thinking. That sucks... I have purchased form BikeBandit without issue and I am sure they will get you taken care of... you might just need to push a bit. Shinko tires are a good company and they stand behind their products too. Sadly, I have seen "out of round" issues from many of the big manufacturers... It happens, but it is rare. I hope you get it sorted out.
Kyle Bradshaw well here it is almost three months and still no resolution. Called them again today. I have also filed a complaint with my credit card and they are also going to look into it. Will probably never do business with #bikebandit.com again. I understand tires can have faults but never seen such run around when it comes to #Shinko customer service. Totally disappointed in both companies. I’ve sent them everything they have asked for including a video of the issue
That's scary I had a death wobble on a 1972 Honda cb750 on the highway when I was new to riding the handle bars shook violently luckily I got it under control I was thinking of getting a set of these for my fatboy I'm sticking with the scorcher 2
My experience was scary. I understand bad tires happen but what was bad was the company refused to help me with these bad tires. I will no longer buy these. Some have had good luck with them and a lot have had bad experience. something I am not willing to experience again. Take care.
I have been through maybe 10 sets of Shinkos ..the oo5 and oo6 ..never an issue . I just bought a fjr 1300 and first thing I did was put NEW shinko 006 on it ( I had a spare ) and it is great .. I think you got a bum tire
If you ride a Harley you shouldn’t be skimping on tires. Had shinko’s on 3 different bikes I’ve had, not any where near close to best grip, but super durable. Harleys have outdated suspension/frame setups on top of that most of them are heavy, spend the extra money on some nice Michelin’s or Dunlops. In other news, I’ve tried all the major tire brands currently have some Kenda Race Tires in the mail right now. So far Pirelli’s are the best grip they just don’t last long. (07 CBR1000RR, 04 Zx6r and 2020 Z125Pro)
Good info. Just to let you know I tried these tires to review them. I thought I had mentioned that in the vid but then again maybe not lol. Getting old is tough ha ha ha. I run Commander tires and really like them for their longevity.
That sucks you had a bad experience. I own a 2007 Honda Shadow Aero and I would love some white wall tires. I’ve heard some people have bad reviews about these tires. More like mixed reviews I guess. Would be nice if Michelin made some white walls.
Jason Lurf ya I hear some folks talk good about these hence why I tried them in the first place. If they had warrantied the tire or done something to make this right it would have been a different story. Instead both companies chose to stick it to me. Never again.
Techn' Moto some of these online moto stores have subscriptions you have to pay to save money. A fucking joke. I go to the best dealer in town I can find.
I have had Bad Avon, Bad Duro , Bad Cheng . Have had tires cup on the tread and inverted bubbles like a belly button the size of a silver dollar . only time I have ever got wobble is when the rear axle was off by 1/8th inch or more . I had a FLT/C Ultra glide , had a 1200 chopper I built my my ex wife , Road king I ride Never get wobble After every tire I make sure I align the Axle with my swing arm. I use a stiff wire and a small o ring Ebay sell a tool for 15 bucks , Bad tires make for rough ride in curves at high speed more of a vibration I have had over 120,000 on my FLT and Im at 80,000 on my King . I have owned 17 bikes in 48 years all them get some kind of wobble at 120 to 130 mph .
I never go that fast, ever, so sticking to the speed limit maybe five or ten over at brief times- never experienced a wobble on this bike. A flat spot on the treads on the front tire will cause a wobble. The rear axle being out may cause a weave. Anyhow changed tires to a different brand, everything is good again. Not to mention #shinko and #bikebandit did nothing to make this right. After three months of numerous calls and emails they just left me hanging. I am out all that money. I’m good, Shinko will never get another dime from me. Take care and ride safe
@@TechnMoto I feel the same way about Avon , in 09 new set tires only lasted 500 miles cupped so bad you could place 3 fingers in the cup every 6 inches be the same all the way around both sides of the front tire the rear lost tread . They refused to warranty the tire I got a set of Dunlop and they last 8000 miles . roads I run tires last 4000 to 8000 miles lot of granite or flint in the roads . Southern Missouri . Brand of tire and price what my play money after bills could afford. i got a tire machine and get dunlops on ebay do it myself . same tire at the shop be 220 , I do it for 110 $
Thanks mate. The RUclipsr Dad with a Bike died with the Shinko 777's on his bike. Obviously it's impossible to say if the tyres were the cause, but still I don't think I will be buying Shinko's. Harley's are also notorious for death wobbles.
I have been running Shinko for awhile now great handling tire excellent in the rain/water they wear quick though. Have had them on multiple bikes and have not had the death wobble or a any problems at any speed. Been 135 mph. Glad your ok but there might be something wrong with your bike.
I am a huge fan of spending the big bucks on premium tires. I really believe you get what you pay for. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON THEM!!’ Glad you got out of the wobble. Pirelli and Michelin have been my “go-to” Tires and I usually get Higher mileage and superb handling. Not worth the risk. Yours is not the only story like this I have seen on RUclips when I was researching tires.
I had them on my lowrider and liked them they turn in really fast. so I just boughta set for my roadking, hope they don't kill me .I run down the hwy let's just say a little faster than why speeds haha. they look good and I couldn'tfind a set of Dunlops anywhere. I went to j& p and they sold me a 7 year old set of 888 needless to say I sent them back. then I went to Revzilla and they lied to me and sold me Michelin 2 and said they were just like 3 .I waiting for them to get here so I can send them back.
Man, lately customer service has been lacking at many places. If you bought the Shinko's it will be okay if they are not defective, lol. I wish you good luck with them. When I had them I have to say they gripped the road really nice. Can't see them lasting long though with such soft rubber. Anyhow thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
@@TechnMoto I had to settle. I had four tires I wanted, waited for two months to get. I am ridingon belts. this Denniskirk.com got me these tiers in one day. and they were made this year so hopefully they'llbe good and hold me over till I can buy some Dunlops.
There's a hundred things that could have caused that wobble. First scuff them in properly. Make sure they were seated correctly with proper tire pressure and balance. Make sure the axles are running true and aren't worn. Check new tires before installing. A tire can get a flat spot from a skid on a curve. If that were a common phenomenon with the shinko tires, no one would buy them. Yes it's absolutely possible to have a bad tire, but there "could be" a lot of other factors in play.
@@TechnMoto yes I watched. Not saying your wrong. But just saying there could have been another factor that caused the tire issue. You could have had a different set of shinko tires and due to correct mounting, worked out great. Many people have used the 777 and swear by them.
Hi bud, when I saw you put those tyres on I thought to myself oh oh!!, I have seen nothing but bad reviews about Shinko, don't think I've seen a positive review, but I didn't want to burst your bubble so to speak. As you say we all learn from these things, thank God you were able to rectify the wobble, could have been nasty, so glad you didn't get hurt. Have a good weekend Mike, P.S I noticed Chewy has his own channel---bless him 🤣😂
Geoff Oz Evans well a good friend would have said something 😂 but I would not listen. “Joking” no I wanted to try them and see for myself. Yes he does something the kids started. I think he has more followers than me lol
What a crock, have a look at the guy on here with the BMW, read the comments, lots of positive reviews. Still, I do agree that it only takes one bad one to kill you. Let's face it, any mass produced item can produce a faulty item occasionally.
Shane Abs yes you are correct this is my first experience with the #Shinko brand and it hasn't been a good one. I did my research and agree with you their are good and bad reviews on these tires so I decided to try them. I unfortunately have had a bad experience with bad tires from Shinko. The company should back up their product? Here it is two weeks and they still have not responded to my email and phone call. To clarify nothing I said in this video is a lie. I will give them another call and see if I can some how resolve this. At the very least they should reimburse me for the tires. I believe a company should back up there product. Hey Shane thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, take care
Mike thanks for the video. Your Video just confirmed my Wobble front and rear. I just installed the Shinko 777HD Reflector on the back and the Shinko 777HD Front. I had the back installed on April 2020 and the Front one installed June 2020. I have just started riding the bike in August of 2020 due to a lot of repairs that took longer to do because of delays in parts shipping . I ride a 2004 Kawasaki 1500 Nomad FI. I followed the Manufacture Tire Pressures of the Bike. Front 32psi 40psi rear. This bike handled so poorly. Vulcan Forum riders say 40 front 40 rear. It never rode like this before I installed these tires. I thought I had left something loose. I pumped the Front Tire to 40psi and the shimmy or death wobble was gone at speed below 65mph, but came back at speeds above 65mph. The rear end would start swaying above 67mph like i was riding a bucking bronco. I recheck my suspension , axle tightness, and yes checked my wheel bearings before installing tires back on bike. No problem found. I increased the rear to 44psi (which is above the Shinko tire specs of 42 cold). I am able to run 75mph but above that the bike starts wobbling again, rear and front. This is my first and last of running these Shinko tires. They were cheap and now I am out $ I cant recover like you. Lesson learned. I am convinced these are defective tires. Anyone reading this You HAVE BEEN WARNED. Buy a better more $ tire.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us all. I know how you feel but this may help others who choose to learn from our decisions. These #shinko tires are junk as you found out. Keep safe buddy.
Generally these tires get really good reviews..Have seen other videos here on youtube where people have tried the same with quality tires and say they should never have that brand again..Think just you have been unlucky. Thank goodness nothing happened. Ride Safe
Kenni Løvstad totally agree but here is the problem- for three months I tried to have the tire replaced or my money refunded and the company kept me going in circles. Asking for the same info over and over, they would not respond and when they did it seemed we were back to square one. After three months of this I finally gave up. I’ve had problems with other tires yes but the companies have backed up there products unlike #shinkotires. Thanks for taking the time to comment and ride safe
I understand your dissatisfaction with Shinko Here in Denmark we are better off, as it is the dealer who must provide a guarantee. Generally 2 years for factory failure. Here the dealer has to take the fight with the manufacturer. Shinko is a Japanese company that purchased all the molds and technology from Yokohama Rubber Co. in 1998 when Yokohama got out of the motorcycle tire game. I ordered a set for my Yamaha Dragstar Classic for next season..So we have to see how they do My current tires are the Dunlop D404F. They have run 10,000km. They have been ok but are not fond of tarsnake and road stripes
I have a shinko on the back and a q3 on the front and never had a problem. Same with the zx10 I had. I usually had 2 different brands and never had a issues with Corning or anything. I now ride a gsxr 600..weird I know 2 different brands but people dont always have the funds for expensive tires
gsxr fixer I hear ya and have been there myself. The major issue here for me is they did not stand behind the warranty. After three months of going back and forth with #Shinko and #Bikebandit I finally gave up. In the past I have had minor issues with tires but I always had them back up their products. This was the first time I had such a difficult time. Take care and ride safe
i thought about these but ive been using metzlers my since the 80s thats all they make is motorcycle tires so i just replaced them with metzler.always been a great well made excellent handling and longevity
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can get it replaced and get one that is safe. Hope it works out better for you than it did for me lol. take care and thanks for taking the time to comment.
I also had a bad experience with Shinko I have the 705 back and front and within one season I had cupping in front and a really bad vibration, the back one is at 20% left, i did 10 thou km on these, I liked the look of these tires but now safety over look and I’m going for a more street tire and staying away from Shinko
So glad you put this out! I've been dealing w/wobble since I got these early July. My mechanic keeps saying it's not the tires and checked my swing arm. It was loose. So I had him replace the swing arm bushings [and they were bad]. It made the rear better, but I still have wobble in the front. Before it was both front and rear over 60mph. Now it's mostly front over 60mph. But my bike rode perfect before these tires. Again, my mechanic swears it's not the tires and sells a lot of these w/o complaint. Now he wants to do my neck bearings. [Forks only swing over about 1/3rd before resting.] I am so fed up. I haven't been able to ride for nearly 2 mos now due to back & forth over this issue. 200 mis of shakedown riding ain't riding! I can wrench on basic things, but removing my whole faring just to get to the neck is beyond what I'm comfortable with. That's a big job due to time and I ain't happy. I've been mulling around & researching what I'm gonna do, like replacing one or both tires w/the Dunlop and Metzeler like I had before or doing the big expense of the neck bearings. Then I just came across this video explaining this same issue. Thank you!! I am now more convinced it's these damn tires! Originally I was thinking I would just do the front, but now I think I'll do both. I imagine I'll have to eat the expense of the Shinko's. But if it fixes this wobble issue, it's worth it! I'll report later after I get different tires. BTW, my bike is a '99 HD Classic w/21" spoke front & 16" spoke rear.
Dude I had the same issues as you know took both tires off as you may know after discovering the flat spot. put on the michelin commander 2 and problem gone. Now almost three months later still fighting with #BikeBandit.com about a refund on these #Shinko777 tires. ruclips.net/video/YJnumB0dxJc/видео.html What a crappy experience I've had with these two companies. Please let me know how it works out with the new tires, I think your going to find its the tires.
I just put the 777 on my CVO and it WOBBLES at 65-75 mph SCARY BAD... Brand new, 214.00 to mount the tires and the shop said he had trouble getting the tire to bead up. I loaded in trailer. Today, unloaded and scared the hell out of me.. I guess 525 down the drain...
And people think I’m full of bull. These tires are straight crap in my opinion. Good luck getting your cash back. I say this cause #shinko doesn’t stand behind their products. At least that’s what I found out. Man so sorry to hear this. I went back to Michelin commander 2 and bike has been great ever since. Hopefully the shop can do something for ya.
@@TechnMoto I bought the tires on Ebay because my bike has a 114 motor that dyno's at 125lbs of torque and 122hp. I was looking for a sticky tire. I wasn't thinking about saving 25 bucks per tire. Now, I am filling out a print label to return them. Chapparal was the Ebay seller. We'll see if the seller refunds the money.. A MC guy in CA told me to check the air pressure. They can look ok but have low pressure. Sure enough. Tire requires 90lbs. Front had 31 and rear had 27 so I air up the 75lbs each with a Ryobi portable compressor. I'll take back on highway and see what happens...
@@TechnMoto Well, I added air to front and back. At 50, you are ok. At 55, it begins to snake down the road. At 62, it becomes seriously wrong. Stick a FORK in me. I'm done!!! My 2005 Electric Glide CVO has factory mag wheel. I cant speak for ALL bikes, but this dog won't hunt! I have to say, DON'T buy this tire. I want GRAB the pavement but not wreck my bike. Just for any doubters out there, I've been riding 51 years and owned over 50 bikes since my 1969 Mini trail was ($249.95) NEW. Raced a little Motocross. Made a few road trips. But I've never bought anything new and been so disappointed. The wore out Dunlops seen 90-100 easy, just before I went to the shop. So it's not a wheel issue. The bike shop is a great place that mounted them. I guess the tires are junk.
I've always run Dunlops on my Road King with no trouble. Tried the Shinkos and yes, they did start to wobble at speeds over 60 mph. Not really a wobble but more like an undulating feeling. Never went into a full tank slapper wobble, but enough to feel uncomfortable. Long story short I experimented with tire pressures and just decided to live with them. After about 1000 miles they finally settled down and the wobble Is now gone. Way too long of a break in period in my opinion. I tried these because the majority of reviews I read were favorable. That said, I don't think all bikes will react this way to these tires. I like the grip that the softer compound provides, and the rounder (than the Dunlops) profile makes the bike turn nice and light. They may work great on your bike depending on what you have but I probably won't put them on mine again.
Coming in a long time late but I’ve just put a Shinko on my Road King and have the same wobble and never had an issue with the Dunlop D402.. going to have to bin it I think and get the Dunlop OEM as I’ve never had a problem with them before… I think they’re junk tires
Ok I just had this same experience. I had a set installed on my Victory a couple days ago and rode the bike home from the shop which is just a couple miles from my house. The bike felt a little different but ok. Today I decided to take a ride on the interstate. Everything was all good until I got up to about 70mph and that's when the wobble started and it got worse from there. Hate to say it, but I think I just wasted my money on these tires.
I get a few people every now and then calling me stuff cause of this video. I can only put out the info I have. These #Shinko tires really are cheap tires in every sense. Let me know if they help you out and or replace them. I’m interested in hearing how this pans out for you. Good luck.
@@TechnMoto Wierd, I was just looking at a review on RevZilla, its the first thing they said. still looking for a review on the lighter cruisers in the wet and city traffic
dantae666 either way if the tire wasn’t defective I think they would have been decent set of tires They just left me hanging and neither company helped me out. I lost my money.
Thank you Mike I have been riding since I was 16 too Im now 61 I appreciate all your reviews and technical videos you do and respect your opinions with the highest regards. Again thank you and thank the good lord you didn't get hurt or worse. Take care buddy!
Dave Ross thank you for those kind words. As you may know my reviews are not paid by anyone. I actually use my own money to buy these products. I would never do this review if it wasn’t true and I have the proof to prove it. I think I did enough to back my claim. Thought about taking the bike on the road to show the instability and wobble issue but I felt it wasn’t safe to push my luck. Take care and god bless
And on top of that they've never never answered not one single email that I sent them asking for their help
ya the customer service is horrible at #bikebandit.
Take care man🏁
No doubt, a bad tire. What made me upset was that no one helped me. Now Bikebandit is no longer in business- gee I wonder why. Thanks for commenting.
@@TechnMoto yeah man. Stick with your local shops or Rocky Mountain ATV , and Chaparral
Or tire pressure?
I've had a pair of these in white wall trim on my dyna for months. Haven't had any issues.
good to know thanks
I got some this last summer and they immediately gave me death wobbles intermittently at highway speeds i have a 09 superglide
i ran the 777 on my last bike , loved them and never had an issue. I worked in the tire industry for 15 years I have seen bad cheap tires and bad high end tires. i don't think its a brand issue.
charlie perry no just wish they had warranted the bad tire
How long did those 777s last?
@@timcass33tc for the price I got 7k . And at 80$ a pop that's half the price for the same mileage I got from the metzler's
Shiko tires are fine full dress harleys are know for the dreaded (deathwobble) put the blame where it belongs.
@@TechnMoto 🤟🏻🤟🏻
I bought Skinko SE890, Honda Goldwing, ...........junk tires will never get Shinko ever again, just put them on 5-21-21
@@TechnMoto didn't you say in your video that you weren't willing to try them again?
How many motorcycle tyres have you seen made by Yokahma.
Dunlaps only on a newer Hd
I’ve had this issue on 2/2 Shinko purchases and never with any other brand probably 100+ tires over 40 years of riding.
@@neilhamill318 a ton. They are called Shinko.
Love my shinkos on my sporty
Good to hear there performing well for ya, thanks for taking the time to comment.
My bike came with Metzelers and i replaced them with the same brand the second time, i aint paying $300 for one rear tire ever again.
glad they work well for ya.
All tires have this
I have only heard of this problem with a Harley, not a metric. I've been happy with them for years on my Kawa Vulcan 900 cruiser, no problems no weird ride.
👍👍
Same here vulcan 900 no problems for me
I agree with your review.
Thanks for sharing
I had an issue with
The Shintos on my Harley breakout. Less then 5k and the center was scalloped in places. I have pics. It’s crazy for the amount of money these things cost. I swear they were retreads
@@rickygreen1580 thanks for sharing your experience. 👍🙏
But I ended up giving them away after 500mi. on them.
K1200LT...? I was also looking at the 777HD ... now not so sure at all.
@@justintraupel9468 so many folks with this issue. Hope they warranty those for you.
Could be. Get another opinion and if so have it corrected. Best of luck
@@freddempster4085 lol agreed.
I don't know how mount and balancing works but if the tires were defective how did the installer balance them in the first place? Is it possible a wheel weight fell off when riding? I had it happen with cars before. I'm really just curious because I had these on my bike. Shinko tires are on backorder in the US right now.
As I said in the video- tire had a flat spot on it. Either way #shinko and #bikebandit did nothing to help me out. Thanks for commenting

I've got a full dressed Honda vtx 1300. I've never had a problem with them and I agree they're a pretty sticky tire.
I rode a set of these tires 4k miles round trip from Ohio to South Dakota plus sight seeing with a bad bearing on the transmission
output shaft where the sprocket bolts on. Just the play in that bearing caused the rear end of the bike to sway back and forth as
the bike traveled over the dips on the highway at 85mph. I thought it was the Shinko Tires. But it wasn't. I stuck a prybar on the
drive sprocket and found the problem. I ended up replacing the transmission and that solved the problem.
If you ride your bike in a high heat area at speeds of 80mph you should change the tire every season because the high heat and cold will
dry rot the tire internally and it will come apart.
Their so good that they have a ton of complaints about them. Funny how the motorcycle had no problem before I had these installed and again after I had Michelin tires installed. The worst part is #shinko left me hanging. Shinko tires are junk with a useless warranty.
@@TechnMoto The Shinko's are softer tires and grab the road more and sway the bike if there is:
125 ci. Cycle very happy with the shinko
good to hear someone is having good luck with these. thanks for dropping by
I first watched this video the day before I was booked in to have a couple fitted to my Triumph America.
What was the verdict?
@@dmenaced Never did get them checked so can't say for sure. Poor old bike did in its head gasket on the highway so I sold it for cheap.
I put the same tires on my 06 Electra glide took them off 2000 miles later total junk
Thanks for that info. 👍
Was the rim out of round, that’s a possibility.
@@RichValentine1972 tire replaced with different brand- all good.
I use the 244 dual sport on my ariel 350 and race on bad roads trails and work like top
cool
Good to know. I was thinking about getting the set. Not worth trying. Thanks for the video.
All I can say is good luck with them.
Not designed for the full big bagger, they are designed for a cruiser. I absolutely love the shinko’s on my cruiser and will replace with the same 777’s. They way outperform the Metzlers and Dunlop’s I have run before.
according to the company they are made for this application. at least that's what I was told
Techn' Moto someone lied to you. They make a tire specifically for a big bagger application. The 777 was designed specifically cruiser style bikes. I contacted Shinko directly before I purchased mine. I love them, best tire I have ridden on a cruiser. Way better than the big dollar tires
Jack & Katharine Juby funny Either way tire was defective and I am out the cash live and learn I guess
I was thinking of giving Sinko tyres a go for my gsf 650 Bandit. Now my doubt's are confirmed.Thank you sir.
Really bad experience with these tires and after chasing the company for three months to warranty or refund the tires I had no luck. In the end it was a waste of good money. #Bikebandit.com and neither #Shinko cared to help me out with these defective tires. Take care and glad I could help.
Rock-E Oldboy I’m done chasing these companies. Life is too short😊
Love mine. 81 xs1100. No issues and incredible tire life. However I run the 712
First off, glad you are doing ok and did not get injured,,,my guess is either a bad batch OR somewhere along the lines in storage the tire incurred damage,,,there are FAR too many great reviews on this tire than are bad ones all across every motorcycle fourm and purchasing web site, people really seem to like this tire, if there was a true molding or production issue, people would really be getting killed and savy laywers would have a field day with this,,,BTW I have these on order and will post back to you once I have tested them
Would have been nice if this company didn’t leave me hanging and out my money. That’s all. Good luck with your tires.
I have the same problem but jp cycles the exchange the tires for free now my bike Vulcan 900 runs like a limo
Now I’m happy with 777 shinko tires in my bike
if the company that sold me the tires would have made good on the tire warranty this would have been a different story.
*Shinko 777 Front Tire (80/90-21 Reinforced)* and *Shinko 777 Front Tire (90/90-21)*
Maybe ill get this *Dunlop D404 Front Motorcycle Tire 80/90-21 (48H)*
i have over 10000 on my Shinko tires with no complaints they ride smooth at low and high speeds for $150, I've spent way more on worse PROVEN tires lol they are good tires this guy may have just not mounted or balanced them correctly.
They run fine on my victory kingpin, little tip for victory riders do not run radials only bias ply to avoid the wobble
Thanks for commenting and watching
That's scary I had a death wobble on a 1972 Honda cb750 on the highway when I was new to riding the handle bars shook violently luckily I got it under control
I was thinking of getting a set of these for my fatboy I'm sticking with the scorcher 2
You are correct but what makes this bad is #shinko nor #bikebandit made this right. I was out all that cash. Thanks for commenting
@@TechnMoto agreed
Brand of tire and price what my play money after bills could afford. i got a tire machine and get dunlops on ebay do it myself . same tire at the shop be 220 , I do it for 110 $
In my experience most of the time this Is caused by not enough air in the tires. Add a few pounds air pressure and it goes away
Took care of it- replaced the tires 🙂👍
Thanks mate. The RUclipsr Dad with a Bike died with the Shinko 777's on his bike. Obviously it's impossible to say if the tyres were the cause, but still I don't think I will be buying Shinko's. Harley's are also notorious for death wobbles.
Sorry to hear that. Ride safe, God bless
I have been running Shinko for awhile now great handling tire excellent in the rain/water they wear quick though. Have had them on multiple bikes and have not had the death wobble or a any problems at any speed. Been 135 mph. Glad your ok but there might be something wrong with your bike.
All set now. New tires (different brand) fixed it
I am a huge fan of spending the big bucks on premium tires.
I wanted to try them what can I say. I have since removed them and installed michellins
I’ve had good luck with jpcycles for parts and tires. Let me know how those workout for you.
TheNewenglandboys did you watch, It was a defective tire. New set of Michelin tires and bike is back to normal.
Have a good weekend Mike,
P.S I noticed Chewy has his own channel---bless him 🤣😂
Geoff Oz Evans well a good friend would have said something 😂 but I would not listen.

@@TechnMoto quite right Mike 👍👍😎
Kenni Løvstad I now have the commander 2 on the bike and so far am happy with them. Have also had good luck with Bridgestone and metzler in the past.
Good tires
I have a front on right now it does the same dang thing
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can get it replaced and get one that is safe. Hope it works out better for you than it did for me lol. take care and thanks for taking the time to comment.
I also had a bad experience with Shinko I have the 705 back and front and within one season I had cupping in front and a really bad vibration, the back one is at 20% left, i did 10 thou km on these, I liked the look of these tires but now safety over look and I’m going for a more street tire and staying away from Shinko
Your not alone. Many have had issues with the shinko brand. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I had a different issue with Shinko tyres year's ago. That doesn't mean I stopped riding. It means I bought them years ago and never again .
ofcourse
I promise you it wasn't the tire make or model. It may have been an odd bad tire or something else entirely.
it was a bad tire. different brand of tire fixed the issue. would have been nice if the company had backed up the warranty but they did not.
@@TechnMoto That sucks though. i use the 777 exclusively and I never had an issue ever.
Thanks for the info. I’m sure it’ll be helpful to others and good luck on the refund.

Techn' Moto can’t find them when did u go ....I only see vintage car pics Laugh out loud
Woody New Yorker only posted two pics one of the tower and one of the bridge. After the Harley factory pic I’ll tag you
I've always run Dunlops on my Road King with no trouble.
Like I said do as you please. Thanks for commenting and take care
Good luck.

Thought about taking the bike on the road to show the instability and wobble issue but I felt it wasn’t safe to push my luck. Take care and god bless
