I'm trying these on a bit heavier bike w my road glide limited. I very much like the 777s except how quickly they wear, I'm hoping to get 10k out of these. Thanks for information on these tires and keep us updated. I'll check back and do the same. Same travels friend!
I've been using Shinkos on front and back for about 7 years. Great value! Now, after buying the 1600gtl last year, I put Shinko on front. The back tire isn't ready yet. I'll do Shinko, if I can. I've been trying to sell my 06 LT, but there hasn't been any buyers. Thanks for all you do Kirk.
Great input! And I agree.. love the 777HD and totally disliked the met 888. I to have only gotten about 6k miles on the 777HD. I'm currently on a set of Stones 020 front and back, and I'd have to say I think the 777HD has a bit better grip the Stones. Anyway thank you for always giving up input!
Did 9k on my 777HD, installed the 999 last year, wow, grip, handling and it will last way longer, love the price to, Road Glide 2002 and yes i can easeley scrape the floorboards in the curves
@@curtis1951 Actually, no, there just a better version of the 777, they absorb impact better, last longer and this week-end, got some hard rain and it they gripped so well, didnt feel like wet asphalt, the reason for the 999 was american reseller wanting something to compete with the top
Thanks Kirk, my respect and appreciation for your great job that supporting LT owners with values videos. I must replace the rear tire on my LT1200 99 and on front already have installed last year a new AVON STORM 3DXM. For rear now is a challenge, first option was same AVON STORM but is no more manufacturing so next was METZELLER ME 888 but after this review probably will go to Shinko 999. Could you express any opinion about other AVON for rear tires ?
would be cool if picking tires out were more simple. I have not found a place that has these SR 999 made in S Korea in a SET for a GL1500A I dont like to run different tires on bikes and I don't want to run Bad tires. seems like if these were made tough as people are saying they would be made for the GL1500's I mean since these bikes are super heavy and there are sht tons on the road.
I run 777's up front just for the grippier and softer compound. Also the front tire takes forever to wear down so its perfect. And the tread pattern is a perfect match minus the smaller stipings in the 7's
Wow. I can’t believe how many guys are thinking these are a good tire when they only last 8/10 thousand miles. A Dunlop elite may be more expensive but they last easily 20 +thousand miles. I dont get it.
It really depends on your driving style and bike. Some bikes eat tires and some dont. I prefer a tire that wears a bit over one that lasts and lasts unless I only do highway driving
What is tough to understand? You paid twice as much to get 20k miles. Proportionally the mileage is nearly identical based on price. You do have an advantage with the elites avoiding the addition shop tire mounting charge.
😂Tar Snake 🐍😂 having been in the Asphalt paving business, they should only do that if their going to pave a new coat on within 60 days. That process is a cheap (waterproofing) repair and is not meant to be a permanent fix. Your tax dollars at waste. Most often, they mill off the cracked asphalt and top coat nowadays. State spec's are updated and that tar snake method should go away. Plus, it can be a glare hazard and cause accidents.
Excellent beautiful Explanation good service to Humanity and Riders i have k1200LT and R1100 RT i like to visit your place

What about wet weather
@@gin3825 suprisingly very grippy on wet,
@@ClaudeDunnigan thanks for the reply mate. I'm going to give them a try
Do you think the 999's are too hard for a smaller bike like a sportster or would the 777 be better?

I’m using the Dunlop Roadsmart on my RT and they have been excellent.

Thanks for the useful video as usual...
What do you think of Metzeller roadtec 01 on lt?
I got 12000 out of the 777. Just put the 999 on. 11 streetglide
Thanks for the review
These or the 777 on a Harley sportster? I have 11,000 miles on the dunlop 401's on it now.
I would say either one based on availability. The 777s will give just a bit better ride and grip but not by much
Kirk! New intro music!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I try to change it up every once in a while.
Thanks Kirk!

Just got a set of 999s on my nomad
What is a preferred front tire to pair with this 999?
