- Wondering how to burn (smudge) palo santo wood? Check out this quick guide on tips and best practices on using this sacred tree.
Palo santo is a type of tree (Bursera graveolens) growing wild near the equator and down into South America. This tree species is known for its healing properties and has a deep spiritual history. History immersed in ritual.
Burned as a cleansing incense and used as a smudging tool to release a space from negative forces, palo santo wood invites practice with intention. The scent beckons a hundred stories; naturally occurring organic compounds limonene and terpineol produce a focal aura of citrus and cedar.
Palo santo oil can be extracted from the tree and used for aromatherapy or perfume. You will remember the first time your senses met the material. The quiet pleasure of palo santo is most cherished by those who have had stood witness to its power.

literally this explains everything and more😂😂😂
@@deadskyy444 she did not mention this is the tree priests used ages ago to make wands to actually cast magic or how this is why they say the magic of Hollywood . There is alot she did not mention
Palo Santo is currently marked as an endangered sacred tree now, with western popularity of the smudging trend. Here's some alternatives to Palo santo and white sage: Juniper, Lavender, Vervain, Mugwort, Pine, European Sage, Rosemary, Mint, Dill.
Palo Santo bursera graveolens is not endangered. check out the latest article by NY times - www.nytimes.com/2019/12/16/style/self-care/palo-santo-wood-endangered.html
More info here as well - sacredwoodessence.com/news/
also if you get it from ethical sources, it won't harm it and what you suggested aren't perfect alternatives, Palo Santo makes bad spirits/vibes ;eave but keep the good ones in
there are two trees called Palo Santo, one is endangered and the other is not. the kind used in the video is not endangered
Go eat dirt.
@@emtherobot Bursera graveolens is used by the indigenous people for centuries. My family has always used it. Just because it's not endangered doesn't mean it doesn't suck that non indigenous people use it as a trend and will likely cause issues for the locals due to the demand. It's an ancestral tradition.
Just now burnt palo santo for the first time. Smells great!
Just got my palo santo!! Can't wait to use it 🙏🔮💫💖
I don't know why while watching the video, I also can smell and feel like I am using it at the same time. What a great one, thank you. I think mine is connecting with the Universe ✨ 🙏 Namaste
Wow it actually did the same thing to me 😯
I thought its just me
I smell it too
I thought I smelt it also..

Thank you for this video. I just recently purchased my first Palo Santo sticks and used it for the first time yesterday. I’m usually allergic to any kinda smoke but I didn’t have any single issue with Palo Santo sticks. I felt so so serene and calm after I smudged my home with palo santo. This is a blessing for humans. Your video helped me understand everything I need to know about palo Santo.
Beautiful video! My friend gifted me a stick when she came back from South America a few years ago. I’ve been saving it for a special moment and will use it today in my new apartment before I move my things in. Thank you for all of this information✨
Love this tutorial. Everything you need in 4 mins. Can't wait to try it! Thank you!
I'm burning and smelling this right now...decided to look it up ☺️
Same here!😃♥️
I feel bad for the few people who go out of their way coming to these kind of videos to make silly comments criticizing spirituality and/or people for their beliefs. There's a beauty and something so wonderful about things that simply cannot be explained or proven by science, how sad life must be for those who don't understand that.
🙏🏽
There is Divine truth in everything. Everything is a lie and yet nothing is. Your thoughts and feelings are valid. Society has control issues, and has tried too hard to control our perceptions and beliefs. Out of fear, it’s clung on too tightly onto what it thinks reality is and has tried too hard to make sense of it all. History has the tendency to repeat itself. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, and expecting something to change. It’s time to let go, so that we can truly grow and evolve as intended.
I agree
This space is lovely and so inviting. I used palo santo for the first time today, and now I am hooked.
I just tried it for the first time after a long work week, literally made my spirit feel like its at a higher vibration now. I can feel it in my head its like this comforting vibrational energy thats the only way I can explain it. Kinda like a loving head high. Feels amazing, I think I really needed it.
oh my gosh those ceramic singing bowls!!!
I believe they are crystal. Quartz.
Mines made me feel a little high but like a clarity kind of high i can imagine this to be so good for meditating for sure. I feel so concentrated. My question is. ..at the begining of lighting it when its still on fire is it normal for thick black smoke to come out of it? I had chunks of black things going in the air with the smoke. (Before i blew out the fire, than ut was just white smoke) so yeah is the black stuff while its on fire normal?
Yes, it is normal.
I’ve just used this for the first time. It has a lovely minty smell.
Thankyou iv just got my first Palo Santa. Now I no how to use it. So glad you can clean crystals with it 😇😇😇 xxx
What an informative video!! I am just learning about Palo Santo wood that I'd bought by mistake years ago. I was going to list on local free site but decided to Google it real quick and you were the first video that popped up. But after seeing this, I am going to keep the wood and give it a try over here! You def answered any question I could possibly have! Thank you!!
I am new to using Palo Santo wood. This video is helpful for newbies like me. Thank you for sharing.
I just bought a bundle of sticks. Love the smell but I burnt too much and it made me feel sick. Suggest just a little every so often. Burning wood shavings also worked well and the smell was sweeter. Once your burning a blackened end it's a less attractive smell. Nice when you come back into the room and you can smell it.
Yes, I recently started… and when the wood is blackened but not burnt to ashes it gives a strong burnt smell and lots of black soot instead of the nice smell… should I leave it to burned until it becomes ashes of just leave it?
😂
You're the problem 😅
Thanks, you were very precise with and straight to the point with this information I give Thanks to almighty God, the powers of the universe and good spirits 😊 🤲🙌🙏
My daughter is abscessed with Pali santo and this is the video to remind her how to use it😉💕👌🏻
This is my absolute favorite incense! And it smells divine!
Does it attracts female
Here I thought it was just supposed to smell good. I guess I should have been waving it around and walking specifically clockwise through my house. Fascinating to learn of this ritual but I think I'm going to keep it simple.
Great video. Simple and to the point. Just on question, Where ever did you get that lovely shell burner?
How do you make it burn for that long? Mine only burns for about 30 seconds
May this smoke let me find a zip of weed on my front door
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Excellent video. Thank you so much for this information and sacred tips. Peace and blessings.
This is absolutely beautiful and just made me so happy ! Thank you!!
Those are some beautiful pieces in the video... I can’t really describe what or how it is that I resonate with this wood so much but I do ..: also started burning different things just to see... chaga is cool... I can see why they used it to travel long distance bringing the fire on the voyage... stayed in coal firm for a long time with little smoke ... also the smoke it did produce gave me a feeling of being connected with wood spirits heavily... came realy describe it better than that...I’ve been waking up at random times at night but always at 3 something... I keep a candle tea light candle lit at night for other reasons usually have to re light one and smoke a cigarette or two while looking at it and go back to sleep.. been incorporating palo santo into this little thing I’ve been doing for a long time ... it’s improved a lot in my life i think ...just my mood and my energy anyway ...
{EXTRA BURNING TIP} get a stick make a hole in one end tie string to it then use a small blowtorch lighter to get the other end lighting then walk around your room swinging it back and forth the air will continue to burn the ember and diffuse lots of smoke have fun !!
We can all agree this video is amazing thank u for sharing!
This was very useful for me, thank you! ☺️🙏
Can I just burn it in my own room or does it have to be my entire house?
Wonderful video...thank you for making this and explaining so patiently.
Lovely. You just know when something resonates.
Ty, The smell of palo santo is one of the best smells on this planet imo
how does it smell like?
@@mogaram1640 hard to explain, its a very unique smell like sandal wood, very soft and sweet and not very harsh like normal wood smoke. you should really try it and im sure you will love it!
@@mogaram1640 sorry for my late reaction, i missed your reply. take care my friend!
love this video. you are very easy and natural to your technique. Thank you. I LOVE MY PALO SANTO ! glad I got it !! Taught me alot!! I will keep using it and hopefully my intention will come to pass.
Thank you 🙏
I love santo palo.. I can really feel the difference.. and i love the smell of it.. I burn it alot.. sometimes i can even smell it when im not burning it.. Wow.. Thank You very informative..
I heard that sage removes all energy and that could make you vulnerable because you clear the good, too. It was said that Palo Santo removes only the bad energy and leaves the good.
Thank you for sharing and I Love the decor of your sacred space.❤
Love this stuff. Perfect for after you get out of the shower and relax for the night.
just got a few palo santo sticks, love the scent. Thank you for the video :)
I used to use the song in background as my ringtone..no coincidence!!
I love it. Thank you for sharing. I love Palo Santo Wood.
is this gonna set my smoke alarms off if i’m in my room with the door shut lol
Open a window and don’t put the smoke up directly near the smoke alarm and you should be fine
I love Palo Santo
Oh that's wonderful I absolutely love palo santo and white sage I use it on a regular basis around my home to clean out of negative energy in my living space it has a wonderful smell that lingers in your home for a long long time I absolutely love the smell I use it in my bedroom where I sleep ❤️ ❤️
Ann Marie Edwards - Negative energy??? What do you use to measure the lack of energy once burning the stick? I think the person who told you this os a good salesman. Anyway, i love the smell, but don’t buy into all that voodoo mumbo jumbo.
If you really wanna experience spirit/good,bad energy, then try black musk. Nice smell but I wouldn’t use it for any sort of ritual.
My friend told me I should use it not more than once per year cause I can remove also good spirits, thank you
Thank you so much for sharing this, it helped me out !!!💗💗💗
I enjoy the aroma of palo santo and anything else I like
Ok but where is this beautiful soul? I was hoping to find more videos! I absolutely loved it.
Thank you very much for this information. I purchased some Palo Santo wood today and was wondering how to use it. The fragrance was amazing so I had to try it. Also for clearing energies I read Palo Santo is great. One question though . . . How do I extinguish the stick when I'm done clearing or so I can use it a next time ? I think burning a whole stick is too much and feels like a 'waste'.
Its reusable dear, let it burn out on its own, it doesnt stay lit for like a couple of minutes or so then you can relight it if you want, the stick can last you for awhile
Thank you for this video ! Very informative & so simple !! Thank you
This video was great! Thank you for sharing
I enjoyed your video and your peaceful spirit!!!
Really great! How wonderful your home is! It's quite inspirational!
Thank you very much for this informative video!
A wonderful, sustainable native alternative to Palo Santo is Pinyon Pine wood.
Love the soundtrack! Petit Biscuit 🤍
I just some palms Santo on the 3rd of July, it’s a special day, thank you for the instructions! Nanaste❤️💚💙🔥🌈🙏
⚠️**ATTENTION**⚠️
If you believe in witchcraft then you believe in Christianity. Moses performed miracles from God before Pharaoh. People saw what he was doing and want ed to do the same so they did the same except they used demonic power instead of Gods miracles. This is how witchcraft started. So yes you do believe in Jesus. You will go to hell or to heaven. Please repent. We do not want people doing this.
Let no one be found among you who sacrificed his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is medium spiritist or who consults the dead. Deuteronomy 19:10-11

Thanks for sharing. I just bought some.
This is very helpful! Thank you so much! A question i have a cat so I was wondering is it safe to burn this when she is around? Usually I burn incense in my bedroom and I keep her out of the room but if I’m cleansing my whole house I don’t know if it’s safe to burn around animals. Any help is much appreciated 🖤
Thank you so much very informative.

Palo Santo is going extinct maybe that's why
I use to get rid of smells
Great video, what if you are not getting smoke from the Palo Santo stick after lighting it for a minute. Once the flame goes out there is no smoke?
Thank you for sharing 💙😊
I can’t get mine to smoke up like yours did.
222 comments...this resonates with me..thanks
Such a great video!! Thank you
Thank you!! Just want I wanted to know 🤗
Thank you God bless you
This is amazing.
Are there any ways to cleanse that don't involve a lot of smoke? I want to start but live in an apartment :/
Ive heard about using salt on the floor then sweeping it and it picks up the bad energy that collects on the floor, or you can use an oil in a diffuser or wipe it on the top of the door
Thank you!
Thank you!
Love that song.
That was awesome thanks
What's the difference between palo santo sticks from Ecuador and Peru?
Aside from the scent, I'm looking for info on what each one is good for.
I've used the ones from Ecuador and love them, but I'd like to know more about what the ones from Peru are good for
Franky D - I heard the Peru ones were the original ones before other countries started using them. Might be wrong, but id like to know too.
Thank you!
