I started watching this in pajamas, promptly got dressed and came back, started the video again and got distracted right around the time I heard your distant voice say STAY IN THE KITCHEN. Thank you for saying it every two minutes- that’s really how quickly some of us get distracted especially with pets or kids. As a working mom with ADHD these videos have been a lifesaver. I needed motivation today and no longer have the crisis cleaning podcast. I never knew this video was made. Living with chemo maintenance and fatigue make it hard to get up and do. I have always been able to clean with our dear FlyLady. So glad I found this!
I am in such a hard time in my motherhood. Tears coming down while writing. I have four sons total, 7,5, and 9 month old twin baby boys. I feel like I’m failing, in every aspect of the home. I clean all day and the home is still messy, I feel like I lash out because of the mess and the responsibility of it and I feel like such a terrible mother 😭. It’s the times we are in, the not knowing of what is going to happen in the world. I’m suppose to be their shelter and I feel broken. I needed to hear this today 💔
Your children are more important than any mess. The house is for them, they are not for the house. Just be understanding and patient, they're just children. And you're doing a great job, that's a brood of little boys and you're blessed! And yes that would be a handful! Please be watchful for them at this time, they are trying to get to children with the you know whats. For me, it helps to trust in Jesus. Anyway I hope that was encouraging.

Man I love this crisis cleaning. I use it on Thursday to get ready for Friday and the weekend and I have decided that I should be able to get my whole house clean in this time frame. It's all right who are the times when my brain is all over the place and I have outside stuff to do an inside stuff to do and I have errands to run especially in the winter time or the change of seasons. I play this and not only do I get my house clean I got two loads of laundry the dusting the vacuuming made the beds and put a load of clothes away. This is my goal clean the house 45 minutes to an hour a week. And definitely under 2 hours when I throw in the deep clean spring clean type stuff or the zone clean. I have kept decluttering and decluttering until it fits in that time frame. The biggest shift just happened recently but I am in control of my home and house and stuff I will no longer let my house dictate or rule me I will no longer be a slave to my stuff
@@sl4983 not me, inspired! Cause the zone clean and the declutter is a little tiny bit you do EVERY day almost so that you CAN clean your whole house in that time they said, under an hour a week. It's about consistency.. that way you CAN be a chill person and spontaneous as you always were but you also have a cleaner environment without being anal. Loving it and respecting it much. 💗🙏

My house has been an absolute disaster lately, and it has really been bringing down my mood. I've followed you on and off throughout the years, and I remembered the term crisis cleaning. I didn't need to clean for someone coming over at the moment, but I needed to clean for my sanity and for my family and me. I just got done crisis cleaning downstairs, and I already feel so much better. I do have about 5 to 6 boxes of stuff to go through and put away which I'll have to tackle one at a time, but at least there isn't stuff piled everywhere anymore! I replayed the kitchen segment three times because that's how bad my kitchen was, and I spent another extra 15 on our computer room with a 15 minute break while cleaning. Things look so much better, and I have hope that I can keep beautifying my home by decluttering and establishing routines that keep my house clean. Thank you so much for this video and for all that you do!
I was going to the kitchen to clean it when I started watching this. It did take me 30 min. But I have been sick, so I took my extra time in there. You encourage me so much
Just a little tip, wet down a paper towel with soapy water, and lay it on the stove top wherever there is a mess. Let it sit for a minute before you wipe it off. For any tough stuff, try an ice scraper to keep near the stove-- they are made for scraping glass, anyway, right?-- so they work well on glass tops and porcelain and they have little handles on them so you don't have your fingers in the soapy water.
So glad you made this video! I have listened to the old Blog Talk Radio Crisis Cleaning podcast a thousand times and recently have had trouble getting it to play. This one is even better. It's motivating but less stressful with all the encouragement added. And yes, having a friend coming rather than your mother-in-law probably makes a difference😜 Thanks Marla!

I put them on the home screen of my IPad so I can use whenever I need some help. Hope this info helps someone☺️ These podcasts have been very useful to me for years and I was so sad when the links quit working, and I hope these links last forever🙌🏻

I finished with 3 minutes to spare!!!!!!!! Wow I’m pooped out!!! Few years ago after my son was born a friend called said she was in town, was on her way to my house to see the baby. With only 10 minutes... I opened my kitchen drawer and literally just scooped everything that was on the counters into that drawer. Well guess what my friend did??!?! She walked into my kitchen and started opening all the drawers looking for tea towel 😡😡😡 yep she got a eye full of my mess!!

Been malingering all morning. Ran across this video and In less than an hour in a half, I got the kitchen completely cleaned with floor mopped. Hall picked up and vac and mopped. Got the quest bathroom wiped down, rugs in washier, and mopped. Living room is picked up including the paper all sorted and put away. All surfaces cleaned off. Taking a break and then will vac sofa, chairs, rugs, and mop, living room. Then I will do bedroom on timer too. Also, Master bath. If I have time will do back porch. Will have to start supper. Feels great. I needed this to stay focused is my problem. I brought your book years ago I need to go find it.

I love this! I too have listened to the podcast enough times to memorize it. Now I can switch it out every other time. I end up doing a crisis clean about once every 2 weeks. After I’ve a decade of doing my routines (imperfectly, the way they are meant to be done) I still find that a 5 bedroom house is too much for one person when I’m also homeschooling 2 kids with special needs. The crisis clean is like a reset button. I also have a “clutter cart” which is a sturdy busboy cart so I can wheel the mess into the closet. And I don’t deal with it before bedtime. I deal with it when I get to it the next day because I’d rather love on my babies at bedtime. Imperfection is the perfect way to do it! That said, are there any other recordings like this one out there that coach you through a 45 minute housecleaning? I’d love to have a collection of these, even if they all have the same instructions. It’s so motivating!!

I was fine until I opened my front door. Yep, everything looked fine! Then, I closed the door and looked around my vestibule. Yikes! I never think to clean that little room between the front door and the leaded glass door leading into the house proper. It looked like Morticia Addams had decorated it by hanging lace curtains of cobwebs from every corner. I'm surprised my guests could make it through to my living room without resembling zombies covered in cobwebs! Thank you!

My grandmother used to say “so goes the kitchen, so goes the rest of the house“ Any time she would come over to our houses, which is usually once a day or every other day she would always go straight to the kitchen and empty the sink whether it be washing the dishes they’re loading them into the dishwasher empty the sink, and then she would start wiping counters What we noticed was that it was infectious. We would automatically start doing it with her and became a ritual.

Ugh, same here except that I gave to deal with a landlord that wants to do a "cleanliness check" every 6 months. It's fricking horrible.

Yes, half the battle is getting those appliances going. Edit: And then unloading them!

Thank you for the encouragement. I have never cleaned my kitchen so fast. Even my dreaded kitchen table. (Deluxe hot zone). I took longer than you did on the table tho'. Love the bins for things, so there's no following squirrels.

I love this! I too have listened to the podcast enough times to memorize it. Now I can switch it out every other time. I end up doing a crisis clean about once every 2 weeks. After I’ve a decade of doing my routines (imperfectly, the way they are meant to be done) I still find that a 5 bedroom house is too much for one person when I’m also homeschooling 2 kids with special needs. The crisis clean is like a reset button. I also have a “clutter cart” which is a sturdy busboy cart so I can wheel the mess into the closet. And I don’t deal with it before bedtime. I deal with it when I get to it the next day because I’d rather love on my babies at bedtime. Imperfection is the perfect way to do it!
That said, are there any other recordings like this one out there that coach you through a 45 minute housecleaning? I’d love to have a collection of these, even if they all have the same instructions. It’s so motivating!!

You can also put some drops of essential oil on the cardboard tube inside the toilet paper roll so that it releases fragrance with each use.
And maybe lemon or orange on paper towel roll in kitchen!!?

I have "dress rehearsal" cleaned with you using this video several times, but today is the big show! The real crisis cleaning !! I have family coming to stay for a week over Thanksgiving and we just spent 2 weeks sick with RSV. Shoes on. Ready to go, thank you for helping me!!

I was fine until I opened my front door. Yep, everything looked fine! Then, I closed the door and looked around my vestibule. Yikes! I never think to clean that little room between the front door and the leaded glass door leading into the house proper. It looked like Morticia Addams had decorated it by hanging lace curtains of cobwebs from every corner. I'm surprised my guests could make it through to my living room without resembling zombies covered in cobwebs! Thank you!

Any time she would come over to our houses, which is usually once a day or every other day she would always go straight to the kitchen and empty the sink whether it be washing the dishes they’re loading them into the dishwasher empty the sink, and then she would start wiping counters What we noticed was that it was infectious. We would automatically start doing it with her and became a ritual.

She is loud on our end so maybe take your computer to see if something is wrong with it.
Dr. Barnes, LOL, there is nothing wrong with my computer. She did have her mic away from her at the beginning and it helped when she put it on. Also, you may be wearing headphones which helps increase the volume.
