True story, some bodies recovered from the TWA 800 crash site had life vests on them, these people were presumably seated in the rear part of the plane, and were believed to have been alive after the initial explosion, its unclear whether or not these people were alive when they hit the water. In any case it's very sad R.I.P to all the victims of flight 800.
Before the 1990s, yes There's a rule now that smoking isn't allowed thanks to someone tossing a lit cigarette down a lavatory toilet resulting in an explosion Some airlines may still have an ashtray on the armrests of seats. This is due to fleets not being able the modernize or refurbish their interiors, but they're still handy should someone actually do light a cigarette My original belief on why smoking inside an aircraft was prohibited had to do with second-hand smoking, but then again, they had a smokers section.
I think it’s really interesting to compare with present safety videos
Very detailed and effective instructions. I practically had them memorized from the 80s.
I find this video to be inspiring and sad at the same time. I am sad the airline does not fly any longer.

What makes this safety video sad is that the passengers on TWA Flight 800 might've seen it before it exploded in midair.
Matthew Shortle So f**king true... but hey, that’s how the late 90s were back then.
I was going to write the same thing maybe the same plane used in the safety video could've been the same too never know
MaBee there was a furry in the plane and god did't Like him in a racist way..
@@pyongyang-ace This 747 used in the video the 747-200 version, TWA 800 was a 747-131 an older version.

It was probably used from the late 80s (probably 1988 or 1989) to 1995 I think.
4:47 ah the good 'ol days of smoking cigs on planes.
Oh yes. Jim Carrey would have loved that. Smokin'!
Nice
RIP TWA
is this an early 1990's safety video
80s. By the 90s the plane had a new crew ofc, so no one in this video died in the crash.
I think this is from 1989.
@@graffiti9145 was this the same plane that exploded in the air?
@@danielchavira9968 yes
what? you can smoke in the aircraft?
Pre 1990 yes
Before the 1990s, yes

My original belief on why smoking inside an aircraft was prohibited had to do with second-hand smoking, but then again, they had a smokers section.
In 1988 smoking was banned on flights shorter than 2 hours, then 6 hours in 1990, and finally completely in 2000 on all flights.
What year was this first used? 1989? 1988?
hell yeah quarantine sucks.
@@comercole1940 no no used in 1989
@@Ikhelturbojhett wait i thought you stop operation
I can’t believe that we smoked on the plane! I am smoker but I never smoke on the plane
