My running/summer gun. Initially I thought “this isn’t enough” and “too small” but after hitting the range with it and shooting out at my buddy’s farm. Wow. This is more than enough to keep you safe in 99% of situations. Fantastic gun.

When folks poo poo a smaller caliber being used for self defense I generally ask if they wanna step back a few feet and 'catch a couple' then tell me what they think about it. No takers yet!

@@terryr.t.2113 That’s cute and all If you’re assuming that a potential attacker is going to be deterred by the mere presence a firearm, which in most cases may be true. But stopping power definitely matters if you’re dealing with someone who’s crazy, on drugs or simply isn’t afraid to die. There’s a reason why no police officer(that i’m aware of) carries anything smaller than a 9mm.
380 is definitely no joke but “i wouldn’t want to get shot with it” is not an intelligent line of reasoning for choosing a weapon for self defense.
Most people wouldn’t let you hit them with in the head with a large rock, yet that doesn’t mean that a large rock is a good choice for self defense.

The number one reason I watch Hickok exclusively when it comes to guns is, he does not pretend to be someone he's not! It makes me so sick to my stomach to see these guys in vids worrying about how their tactical stance looks on camera rather than just being normal and discussing what people want to hear about, the guns! Hickock is the George jones of you tube firearms videos, reminds me of that song who's gonna fill their shoes? Definitely not the guys who put on a big show with all their tacticool gear and how they act like they are in the army. Lol. Hickock is the real deal, just a good ol normal American that don't act like something he isn't.

You can use the regular LCP w/ a Hogue grip and it's way better than the LCP II w/o one. Trigger upgrade is a second improvement. Grip is more important.

Dude thats awewsome, so glad you have an LCP 380! They are awesome guns, I've gifted two of them to women who I want to have protection. Now, both those guns have pocket holsters, skateboard grip tape on the slide and a Hogue grip. The Hogue grip is the #1 upgrade for retention, comfort etc. All the better reasons to fix that grip. My shield has a Hogue grip and it is was more beneficial on an LCP. That grip needs fixed and a Hogue grip for around $10 can fix it. Good luck man; we need you.

Thank you for the honest review. I own one of the original LCP .380 and bought it purely for defensive purposes and size. It fits pocket case (which was separate then) easily. Hollow point, down dirty and up close (3-10') works great.
Sights are pretty poor now that I know better, LOL. Do like some of the features on the new model II, such as the slide locking back on empty magazine.
But, for the money and purely for my purposes, its a pretty good small pocket carry, and yes, I carry two extra magazines as well. Still not much in weight and size.

My LCP II had to go back to Ruger for repair twice in 2019, the year in which I purchased it. The first time was to replace the extractor, which ejected while I was shooting at the range. The repair caused 5 new problems: (1) the magazine would drop after every shot; (2) the slide would not hold open after the last shot half the time; (3) when it did hold open, dropping the magazine would cause the slide to fly forward; (4) expended shells would fly over or hit my head instead of flying out to the right; (5) some failures to feed. Again, back to Ruger. Ruger"s superb customer service took care of me, and the LCP II seems to be operating fine now. I also had to send back an EC9s five times for repair and a Security 9 three times. All work OK now.

I also own all 3 of these, and the original remains my favorite. I prefer a heavy trigger for a pocket gun - it is far safer that way. Also, the sights on the LCP2 are closer to the LCP custom, making getting it in/out of a pocket more likely to snag.

"It's a firearm I've always wanted to like; maybe more than I do...". Talley ho on that one. I bought one three weeks ago. I was looking for something that was slightly larger than my Beretta Pico. First range visit was a disaster-enriched learning opportunity. I cleaned and lubricated it before I took it to the range. On the first round the magazine popped out in my hand. So I changed my grip. Second round same issue. I tried shooting it with one hand, no help. The encouraging thing was that each round was very accurate, if that makes sense. I still like the idea of this gun. When I finally get it back from Ruger I'll re-attack the problem. Great video.

My Beretta Pico has (pleasantly) surprised me the most but it took me awhile to get to where I trusted its reliability and my ability to shoot it well. The only reliability issue I had with it was caused by the trigger binding in the frame; an easy fix. The Body Guard seems like an obvious choice...good luck with that.

After a couple hundred rounds an no malfunctions, I'm retiring the TCP to backup duty and switching to the LCP II for the improved sights and trigger. I ran a box thru it at the range and it is a nice little shooter. Don't be alarmed when you are getting large groups at anything more than 20 feet. I consider myself a good (not great, just good) marksman and I could not hold a group under six inches over 20-25 feet away. The closer, the better.
