    pretty cool seems like a lad i'd have a few beers with. i do like how he goes to google maps after driving somewhere i think most sim racers do that going on road trips.and yes nuke batman lol

      I really enjoyed being able to work with him on this project, not just because of Thermalito but because he's a genuinely nice guy to chat with. The original recording for this Q&A had to be trimmed down from nearly 2 hours to 40 minutes 😅 and every time we'd have a meeting, at least the first hour would be spent talking about other sim racing/track building/motor sport related things. Could definitely sink a few beers together if we weren't on opposite ends of the world.

    Great interview. For me Nukedrop fictional tracks are the very best tracks in AC. This is partly because my NLR racing platform supports Body Pitch for AC which makes the tracks like Silver City and others so much physical fun to drive compared with the more often than not flat real tracks. Nukedrop is the tops!

      @DDFRacer  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the kind words 😁 much appreciated! I've got a NLR rig too although not quite as fancy with the motion platform (maybe one day). It does sound like a lot of fun though cresting all of the elevation changes that Nukedrop puts into his tracks, you'll have to let me know what turn 8 and the tunnel entry feels like at Thermalito 😉

    • @jJustPlayingNZ

      I have had the Motion Platform a few years now, I must have been one of the first to have one in NZ lol. Cost me a fair bit but it has been worth it. I am not a fast racer. I am more of a fun driver. I do race but only against the AI. So I am not the best critic of finer track details but I do know that Turn 8 is the one I usually crash on! Pretty scary in VR with motion platform and haptic feedbacks. Not all the sims have the Body Pitch but it was added recently to AMS2 and ACC but it is in AC where it really stars because there are so many great hilly or mountainous tracks. Some of them can be literally scary when you leave your stomach behind 😨Crest da Cauras by NukeDrop is my favourite but there are lots of other great ones.

    I often change my names on Google (for various reasons), but I'm aka Owen Huges, Owen, a generally slow but usually polite online racer. It's always a privilege to race with you and the crew. Lately study, health, and life in general has prevented much actual racing, but I still get my regular fixes, usually from your channel. I can't thank you enough.

      Ah, I _thought_ that was the case but I wasn't quite sure 😉 been a while since I've seen you on the servers but then again I haven't done too much with AUSNZ this year so that might also explain it. I know what you mean about the whole 'life in general' thing, it's definitely been one of those years. Hope everything is going well for you though and honestly it makes me smile so much to hear that I'm giving you the sim racing fix whilst you're away from the rig, I can relate to it so much. When I first moved to Australia I was unable to do any sim racing for about a year because it was too expensive to ship my gear from the UK and I needed an upgrade anyway so decided to get a job, earn my keep and start fresh. In that time I'd be constantly watching people like Empty Box, Matt Malone, Jimmy Broadbent, Simracing NC etc to get my fix 😁 and to be honest they were hugely influential in making me decide to start making sim racing videos of my own when the opportunity came around. It feels quite surreal to now be in that position where I can return the favour for you 🤩

      Great to have you onboard 😍 welcome to the channel! I met Nukedrop a few months ago when I asked him to do my Thermalito project and I've been a big fan of him ever since. Seriously laid back guy with incredible knowledge and skills when it comes to track building. Couldn't be happier with the job he did on my circuit!

    Great interview, I watched the whole thing. I've been a patron of Nukedrop for years but didn't know anything about them, so it was good to get a bit of an idea of the person behind all the great work. Batman t-shirt 😉

      Thanks for the kind words 😁 glad you enjoyed the interview. I'd heard of Nukedrop before working together with him on Thermalito but only in passing as Assetto Corsa was one of those sims that I only picked up every now and then, so glad I found him though! He did an awesome job on bringing my idea to life and was a pleasure to get to know him. When you look through his other work too it's clear to see he applies the same passion and attention to detail in all of those projects as well.

    DDF: Long term lurker and channel member here. You have given me so much pleasure over the years. Keep it up mate: your attitude is simply awesome, restores my faith in my fellow human beings.

      Thank you mate 😁 that's incredibly kind of you to say! It's been a bit of an odd year, punctuated by the occasional livestream and not as many hardware/review videos as usual, either due to personal life and lack of time or, well...no new topics to make videos about 😅 but I have no intention of stopping any time soon. I planned way too much of 2023 in advance which locked down my commitments early and didn't really give me much chance to react to things as they happened or be too spontaneous. There's a couple of things on the cards for next year but I'm keeping it mostly free and my options open to take the opportunities as they arise. Looking forward to it!

    I enjoyed the interview.
    I was hoping there would be some screenshots of the questions people posted on the discord or at least time stamps for the questions in the description.
    Not a deal breaker but I feel timestamps would be a good "quality of life" addition.

    • @DDFRacer
      @DDFRacer  9 месяцев назад +1

      Good idea 👍 I'd thought about Discord screenshots but as I didn't copy them exactly word for word, I didn't think they'd make sense. I had a rough script but the actual q&a ended up being a lot more freeform. Timestamps are a good one though, I meant to do them but must have forgotten 😅 leave it with me.

    Very happy to be part of the thermalito 2.0 project. Albert park seems to be the opposite to jeddah, in that its never spoken about as a street circuit
