Moreover: First theme is the one used for Series One in the UK, performed by the Red Price Combo. Second theme, performed by the Bob Leaper Orchestra was NOT used either in the UK or the US. Third theme sung by Johnny Rivers, written by P.F Sloan and Steve Barri was used only in the US and was a smash hit single. Missing are Ted Astley's own original take, used in series 2 and 3 in the UK, the re-recorded version of this released as RCA 1492 in the UK. Also the Ivor Slaney Orchestra arrangement - though again, this was never used for the TV series but released on HMV records in the UK.
The Johnny Rivers tune is catchy but the lyrics have nothing to do with the series. John Drake was a very serious-minded and rather chaste professional. He didn't "swing on the Riviera" or 'slip' while "kissing persuasive lips". And they didn't take away his name and give him a number- that was the next show!
I blame my folks here in America, trying to "Americanize" the series. American producers and tv execs hated the title of "Danger Man", and change it to "Secret Agent", as if American viewers are not smart enough to understand the premise of the series.
@@dsmscenester Well, John Drake was a secret agent who faced danger. And Johnny River's tune is catchy. But the lyrics describe someone else. "Secret Asian Man...."
Edwin Astley, à qui on doit aussi les excellents thèmes du Saint et de Département S... (sauf la chanson interprétée par Johnny Rivers qui a été ajoutée pour la télé US).
That second theme is perhaps the coolest incidental music of any series in TV history.
Absolutely ❤
Patrick Mcgooghan was also "Secret Agent Man" which is another kick-ass theme!
Agree. I much prefer the second theme...
@@geraldwilliams2678Which is why it’s the third track here

THE FIRST THEME IS STILL A PURE CLASSIC.
Best spy and best music theme.
TRUE INDEED.
Mission Impossible and Man from UNCLE up there too.
Just epic in every way !!
I so remember both theme tunes from this fab series. It was so exciting.
Patrick McGoohan l❤ve 🙏
These are fabulous!

"Secret Asian Man...."
Only because it was up against 007.
The first one is the one I remember.
The first theme sounds more "danger'-ous. Plus the earlier series packed a lot of action in a half hour.
Qui est l'auteur de ces génériques absolument magnifique.
Edwin Astley, à qui on doit aussi les excellents thèmes du Saint et de Département S... (sauf la chanson interprétée par Johnny Rivers qui a été ajoutée pour la télé US).
Themes for the eternyty
They used a studio recording for Secret Agent, not the live one.
Secret Asian man!
What is the name of the second theme?
'High Wire' by Edwin Astley.
'High Wire' performed by the Bob Leaper Orchestra.
There is a fourth theme missing.
Yes, the two Ted Astley versions are not here (used for Series 2 to 4 in the UK) and also the Ivor Slaney Orchestra, not used in the series though.
