OMG u just saved my ass! Today while cleaning my xbox I disconnected the faceplate ribbon and didn't know what to do. Thank for this guide.

Ha, I had an issue where the xbox360 elite would turn on/off and beep alot.
Who knew all I had to do was detach the ribbon.

thank you so much, when I opened my xbox to fix the laser in the disc drive the face plate fell off and the flex cable fell off and I didn't know how to fix it, so this video helped :)
thanks, i was fixing the disc drive but didnt properly put in the cable, now i know why the sensor didnt work
Do i need the ribbon for it the power on or is there a way i can remove it and still turn it on with the controller?

RE: What happens if u take the fuzzy thing of the disc drive? A: It will likely not read your disks and if it dues, it will cause the dis to slip each time you turn it on and off and destroy your disk over time.

Do u know the value for c57 capacitor on 360 slim RF . Plz help .
I would recommend you just Replace the RF its not worth the effort, now if you want to repair something you broke that Cap is hardly ever bad so you can buy a very cheep broken RF board and take the Cap from it, this will likely be cheaper than trying to buy a single Cap
+TheHGCGamersClub do you happen to know if there is c57 on the motherbord of xbox 360 fat? I have a couple of them that are dead due to RROD )) And is it nesessary to put new c57 back? It works without it quite well. Or is it dangerous for xbox not to put it back?What might happen?
thanks for sharing ....i ended up snapping my lift part on the chip so the ribbbon cable wouldnt stay in place lol ordered a new one off ebay though

what are the chip numbers on the ic chip with the 5 legs on each side mine fell off and wont power on and wasnt inside the box?
1. chips do not just fall off 2. are you aware of the number of chips inside the Xbox that match your description? Take your system to a qualified repair shop it will cost you less money than it would to buy the minimum required supplies and proper tools to replace a chip like that.

What if my Xbox is not turning on and it's not the brick or the USBs or the ribbon? What would you guess it was? I got home and turn on my Xbox and I was walking out the room and I heard the fan so I walked back in and I turned it off and then I tried to turn it back on and it would not. did it overheat? Can it fixed. Please help.
there are lots of things that can cause no power if i guess and you try to fix something that is not broken you will brake it and possibly remove any chance at finding out what is wrong with it take it to a qualified repairman or send it to Microsoft

Fact is anything that gos bad in your drive can cause open tray ("ANYTHING") you are better off taking it to a Qualified & Educated Repair center that proves there worth with a 6 mouth or better labor free warranty that guarantees no Drive repair will be over $12 I offer this but for 1 full year on all drive repairs.

hi my xbox slim was giving me hell by turning off and on constantly and i had tested my brick on another xbox so i knew it wasn't power. i then followed your video on how to open and clean and all went well :) it really helped(stayed on for about 15-20 instead of 2-3 minutes) but didn't solve my problem so i followed this video and just unplugged the ribbon and put the face plate back on without it being connected. i turn my xbox on and off with the controller and as of yet it hasn't randomly turned off or on which it great! only thing is now it keeps making the beeping noise as if i was pressing the eject button about every 5-10 minutes... its not a major issue just annoying lol... is there some way to fix this? any advice would be awesome :) thanks heaps!!

You can try replacing the RF board that's the Green thing the ribbon plugs into.
Does this work, I'm having the same issue with turning on and off, was going to try disconnecting the ribbon... but that sound issue sounds annoying.
N7neroarm Most who try damage stuff know your limitations? if you think replacing the ribbon touch sensor is your problem I would suggest you first test it by unplugging the ribbon if it quits shutting off you know you need a replacement if not it could be the RF Board or something on the motherboard RF boards are easy but you will not be able to do the motherboard yourself. Good Luck
Yeah, I was going to try to disconnect the ribbon using your video that shows that... if that doesn't stop the console from turning itself on and off.. I'll try buying a new RF board and replacing the old one. I'll let ya know how it goes.
i want to take out faceplate because the sensor button does not work
I have an issue where as I press the on or eject, I hear the beeps, but no lights flash and nothing happens.
You need to take it to a qualified shop willing to show you proof of education in component level electronics RUclips can only give you 1 or 2 possibilities as to what may be wrong out of 100's of reasons for your problem that means you have a 98% probability of trying to fix something that is not broken and ending any possibility of any kind of repair even by a qualified person.

I've lost communications between my wireless remote and the Xbox 360 - it no longer remotely powers up the unit remotely. It quit communicating when I disconnected/reconnected the front panel.
1st you should not be disconnecting/reconnecting the front panel unless you meant the ribbon?
This is why I suggest that YOU do not attempt repairs or even clean outs yourself,
I allow Clean-outs under my warranty's but only if the Customer fills conferrable doing it.
I will clean my stuff, but I will not work on my own electronics for the same reason I suggest you take your box to someone that has experience.
What is that reason
1. if what your working on is yours you tend to not be as careful
2. you will tend to rush threw the cleanup of the system.
It is likely the ribbon is not in right or damaged???? Good Luck.

I have an Important question, My xbox 360 slim is beeping on its own, & some times turns itself on by ejecting the tray then booting up, Other times it will not eject the tray but beep & boot up on its own, Is this a faulty ribbon or the whole front plate...? Thanks
+Tokyo Ghoul The face plate will not go bad, only the ribbon cable can go bad, it sounds like it could be the ribbon cable, but there are lots of different reasons you can get the problem your having but it would be a cheep first place to start, if replacing the ribbon cable don't fix your problem I would suggest you take it to a qualified shop not a game store.

So i had just dropped my xbox and i went to turn it on and the power button keeps flickering on and off until it finally just turned off. I would like to know if this would help because im sure their are ribbons or something around the power button as read by the forum. I would like to know if removing the faceplate is a good idea?
it is possible? Not guaranteed, it depends on what is causing the problem
Do not buy any power ribbon, I would try opening it remove and plugging the power ribbon back in it likely only moved and is not making good contact.
It is very unlikely that the power ribbon would be damaged dropping the Xbox that would normally crack the motherboard or damage the hard drive or disk drive not the power ribbon.

I would also like to say if you follow a RUclips video you will likely wast your money buying replacement parts or destroy your Xbox trying to fix something that is not bad or not broken
What ever you do do not fall for the videos talking about the magnets on the hosing it takes 10 thousand years for them to get noticeably week and forces you to replace the case almost every time, do not do that OK. Stay safe and happy gaming to you friend

Yes there is always that option, I recommend keeping it working the way is is designed to work and opening your system gives you an excuse to clean it out, afterall dust build up inside the system is the #1 Killer of your game systems unfortunately once it fails do to overheating it is too late for a cleaning and you wind up needing a more expensive repair.

+Anonymous Anonymous let me first say closing automatically is not a problem unless you do not have time to put a disk in because you do not want to leave the tray open for any length of time it is bad for the drive.
As for opening by itself is a problem, Sorry I will not make a video on that at this time because it would seem that everyone that watches any video that shows a game system that describes there exact same symptoms assumes that there problem is the same as his and winds up trying to fix something that is not broken and brakes it, so it is best to just take it to a qualified shop that is willing to show education of there repairman.
If your local to me you can bring it by the repair will likely be between $5.00 & $30.00 but absolutely not more than $50
I would suggest you just replacing the hole drive but there is soldering involved and I do not know if you even know how to solder properly because if you do not know how to solder good you can make your box NEVER PLAY GAME EVER Even if you take it to a qualified repairman
+Anonymous Anonymous Hear is one possibility and it is one you can easily confirmed with your eyes, looking inside the drive right in the center there is a switch that sticks up threw the sliding bare that controls the sensor that tells the drive if it is open or closed if that is visibly broken or is loose flopping around that is your problem. if it is broke replace, if it is loose you will need to Replace the inner frame or very carefully Glue it in place. That I can make a video on but would take a while as I do not have a lot of time right now.

Disk or no disk your Game system still must cool itself and will build up dust just as fast.
