  • “If Putin is not able to concentrate enough force, then we might see a situation similar to Zaporizhzhia…where there are daily confrontations, some movement on the front lines, but very, very little.”
    Russia and Ukraine are stuck in a “stalemate” as Russia makes “slow gains” in Kharkiv, says The Sun’s defence editor Jerome Starkey.

    • @xxrockraiderxx
      @xxrockraiderxx 11 дней назад +12

      Err no, that was the Russian edit of said papers. The original papers had it closer to a 5:1 casualty ration in favour of Ukraine. So for every soldier Ukraine was losing, Russia was losing about 5. If you drill down to certain battlefields then it gets better or worse for the Ukrainians but as a whole Russia has varifiably lost more men from this war, even only using open source intelligence.
      The current ratio has been worse for Ukraine, closer to 3:1 in their favour. What it comes down to is the starting population size difference and the fact that 3:1 in Ukraines favour is still unsustainable for Ukraine due to their smaller starting pool of available manpower.

    So they withdrew in good order inflicting heavy casualties on the Ukrainians as they did.
    Now the situation is reversed.
    After 2 years of attrition Ukraine is on it's last legs.
    They are short of men, particularly well trained and motivated men.
    They have no air cover or defense.
