  • Putin meeting in CHina and Push for Kharkiv could be part of a bid to see Russia recognised as a global naval and military power, but with the Baltics surrounded by NATO allies this might be impossible says Robert Fox, defence editor for the Evening Standard.

Are you serious? Zelensky was talking non stop since the start of the war, about Ukraines deficiency in the air. Ukrainians begged for air power support of any kind. What a shameful thing, suggesting that Ukraine somehow didn’t give air power aspect enough attention.

Excellent point. The West didn't lift a finger for the whole first year. If they had taken it seriously we'd have been on the sencond tranche of fighter jet donation and armament by now. If we had REALLY taken it seriously we'd have all allowed our pilots and equipment to go fight in Ukraine's side, at least as to the enforcement of air superiority.

It's not possible to build defensive lines at the border when there is constant bombardment, when Ukraine is not allowed to strike within ruzzia. The ruzzian military enjoys sanctuary on their side of the border. This is why they moved in. Ukraine saw the troops buildup and could not do anything about it.

He is spot on! We in the west lot but in the end too little too late…
As time goes by, we look too much within ourselves while politics and war goes on outside and it continues. It hasn’t changed from day one in the war and we need to remember that.!
We need to speed up and realize what is going on. I’m not just talk about it but do something.
We need to go into war industrial speed.

Like it or not, russia has the initiative at the moment and by all accounts their moral is high. The west has been far to slow to respond and 2 years into the war we still haven’t been able to supply Ukraine with the same number of missiles fired by Russia…let alone exceed it. NATO obviously has the superior army to Russia but what about if China and Belarus get involved ? This war isn’t over until russia has been kicked back to its borders.

Russia doesn't need a large navy. England is an island. The U.S. needs a navy to carry out operations in europe, the middle east, and asia. Trains and superhighways in Russia would allow them to transport personnel and equipment to places in Russia faster. BTW, the English navy is not what it was. England leased some ships in order to carry out operations in the Falkland Islands. The Russians had an unimpressive navy in WW2.

Just reflecting on why you would want the young people to stay behind to keep the economy going.... That doesn't really make sense because if you have 15-20 years of experience, you can easily keep things going, but the more unexperienced and younger people will not be as successful. Unless what you are talking about is factory workers doing manual labor?

The ukrain border was being monitored by Russia for years and every time they tried to build strength, they would be targeted so unable to build anything, nor construct anything , so they put the main defence many k behind the border. The border force role was to hold them for 24 hours to allow back fill with forces……. So not as bad as the news and some people call it.

I think people are not unstanding one thing with border of Russia being so close Ukraine can't use artillery or long range stuff because of America saying they can't use weapons inside Russia so how can defend a area so close too Russian border you can't use long range assets too push or slow Russian but Russia can exspolit there border too use there long range assets like artillery so it pretty much one sided maby people need stop saying thing that give Russian the advantage and put Ukraine at disadvantage like we did by making them throw troop at Russian heavly defend areas which has now put them on back foot as well as delaying the supply
