It's fascinating how many intricacies there are to the process which is essentially just gluing a club head to a stick! Haha love the video fellas keep up the good work
Great video! Just like Matty boy did back in the day, Mike has gotten way more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Loved this insight from a master of his craft.
I love this stuff......I've been building and repairing clubs for 20yrs in my garage.........mostly for me and my buddies !!! Sure wish I would have known about golf when I was young.........I would have become a pro.......however I found golf at 35 yrs old and now I'm 67.......and just love the technical aspect of equipment........thanks guys !!!
Question for Mike: TM driver quality control is hmmm, in this video if this customer is fitted for Stealth plus 9 degree head, do you check the head specs? Because the raw head they shipped out to dealer usually is not exact 9 degree square. Some could be 8.8 with 3 degree face open, some could be 10 degree with 4 degree face open. 2 degree face open can change the deliver loft much lower, so in TXG, the top tier fitting centre in the world, how do you offset those influence to make sure the club built match exactly the specs for the customer? Thank you!
Y’all are incredible. Love seeing the shop and the mise en place that you have for every element. Would love to see some build videos on top and butt weights, lengthening clubs and hot melts. Watch y’all everyday and your expertise are invaluable! Thank you 😊
@TXG Hey great video very happy to see you guys are doing a lot of the same stuff and materials they use on the TaylorMade Tour truck.. What is the process of puring a shaft and why would someone want that or not want it?
Love the content. But I am confused. Was there a target frequency for the golfer? Mike mentioned that the fitter said tip trim 1/2”. No mention of a target stiffness. Also, no mention of dry fitting for swingweight. It was only measured after the epoxy dried.
Bravo 👏 what data do you track about each post build and do you do also include the player profile handicap or ability assessment for the build? Great job boys! 👍
Love the behind the scenes in the build shop! If a customer wanted this exact same setup with 1 wrap at D3 swingweight , how are you achieving that build? Can you explain how you would achieve? Do you use back weighting in the grip to make it more counterbalanced?
Since the Stealth weights are adjustable you could also drop the head weight. Otherwise you would back weight it. You would need about 4g less on the head or on the end of the shaft.
Love loads of "experts" trying pull him up on every minor detail as could be done better. Not being funny he is going well beyond anything you will get off OEM or 99% of fitting club builders certainly in the UK. He is really trying to deliver the best he can because he cares. Most are just selling a you a club and a dream.
Got fit at a club champion in Kentucky for the DJ series LA Golf in a triple diamond as well as the A series in a couple apex uw’s. Would love to see you guys review them!
WHEN IS THE TXG CLUB BUILDER CERTIFICATION COURSE COMING!!! Lol genuinely would LOVE to learn all there is to do with club building/fitting just have no idea where to start or how to start lol
So you put epoxy inside the hosel vs applying it directly to the shaft itself .. meaning the only way it gets on the shafts is twisting it in the hosel
LONG BUT READ, ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN PING. ARE YOUR IRONS RIGHT??? Great vid. I’ll give my horror story. March 9 I was fit for irons, ordered new Ping I525 irons, love em. Received 3 weeks later and unboxed. In box was clubs and 1 small little tag, and tag said my last name, model, lie, and retro….thats it!!! I ordered 1 degree weak, so i would think there would be a spec sheet showing quality control and specs, actual lofts…nope. I immediately questioned that and called PGA superstore where fit and ordered. They assured me this is sadly the way Ping does it, only company that doesnt provide spec sheet on custom bends. They told me they dont have any problems with ping and tag said retro because they adjusted weak and that means retro no matter weak loft tweaks. Ok i said, its ping, they gotta be correct. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Weather finally broke and got out. Windy as hell, so hard to tell, but some clubs seemed off. Days later played again and windy as hell again, but this time i really questioned some clubs, horrible gapping and short. Finally beautiful day few days ago and got out. OH MY!!! Clubs distances and gapping are butchered. Old clubs, 175 7 iron. New clubs 1 weak of old and cant hit 160 without swinging out of shoes. Easily 10-12 yards short of expected distance. 9 iron same, cant hit 150 swinging like im possesed. Took them to local pro of 25+ yrs after round and we put on loft and lie vice. Lies all good, 1/8 degree or less if off at all, maybe 1-2 clubs. Heres the loft fun we found from Ping!!!! What they are suppose to be, what they are. 4 // 22 -- 24.5 5 // 25 -- 26.5 6 // 28 -- 30 7 // 31.5 -- 33 8 // 36 -- 38 9 // 41 -- 44.5 P // 46 -- 48 Zero consistency. 2 - 6.5 dregrees!!! Basically have 2 5 irons and 2 wedges and whatever in between. How on earth can you get butchery so bad from such a big reputable company? Needless to say many calls were immediately made and clubs went in mail today. Ping said they will immediately move to front of line and be lofted correctly with a digital machine, no human error, like they do for pros. Why arent all their clubs done that way, and how many ppl got new clubs that are wrong and they will never know because they may not know their yardages and gaps like i do?? PGASS also emailed me a 2 day air label for quicker service and said ping told them 1 week. I am having them shipped to PGASS and demanded they check lofts before they send to me. Any issues and i no longer own Ping, and they agreed. I do hope all will be rectified and Ping was very apologetic. Sweet clubs in fitting for sure. Not 1 thing i dont love. If you own new Pings, any model, that are custom spec, pay attention. Consistent yards? Consistent gapping? I guarantee im not the only one to get wrong specs. Have them checked, dont settle for less than what you paid for. Hope this may help any others out if they sense issues.
Go to 'Radar at PING HQ: Ep 1' and jump to 2 minutes 50 seconds. Its very technical in the 'laboratory' as radar calls it - and he missed with the first blow of the hammer which doesn't inspire confidence. For the cost of a set of irons from Ping you could build a set from Golfworks and get your own loft/lie machine with the change. ruclips.net/video/ZFB4MS-rOZQ/видео.html
One thing I’m curious about. The connection system that Club Champion uses is on the heavy side making swing weights usually in the high D’s. So do your customers end up on the heavier side swing weight wise since Mike said they match specs or do you put a lighter weight in the dead if it’s adjustable to get back to a more reasonable SW ?
Mikey - as Arcoss Brand Ambassadors, as I am, have you found building clubs with the Arccos Grips an issue, when it comes to over all golf weight? I ask as the grips will be significantly heavier than standard grips, irrelevant of size.
Hahaha rip and go! Myself and our builders use cuts of blank cardboard to mix epoxy with. If I’m using scothweld since it’s fast drying I use a note pad which I took the idea from the TrueTemper tour truck!!
do you use club conex for the old stuff pre tips on driver shafts or do you just keep gluing shafts until you find one a customer likes....if they were to want a customized old driver fit rather than going new
Hey guys, was hitting my g400 bad due to swing, picked up 410 lst and it was not good. Went to a cally fitting and was put into rogue max due to not a high spin guy. So I decided to tinker with the 410 and added an additional weight from a plus into middle since original is set in draw position. Def helped with flight and control. Fujikura pro 2.0 shaft 60g. Do I need to counterbalance with cb shaft since adding weight? Thnx!
I would like to see a blind test of all the guys (including Mac) using 4 clubs of the same loft, 2 pured and 2 not pured to see if there is any difference.
So we weighed all the components but what was ever done to try and match the desired SW? In Ryan Barath’s build videos from years gone by, I believe he weighed the epoxy. Does the weight of the grip tape negate the weight of the epoxy?
Weighting the epoxy was only to make sure you get the proper mix ratio for part A and B - not for swing weighting purposes. The great thing about using the pre-ratio'd tubes like the one in the video is you don't need to worry about that, just mix. RB
@@clubchampionmedia Thanks, RB. That makes sense. So if SW wasn’t there for a driver build, would you look at swapping out the head weight as the easiest option? Does TXG use tip weights for graphite builds?
Would love to see a parallel vs. taper tip iron shaft build. Also the nerd in me wants to know, if you’re weighing to less than a gram, do you calibrate your balances to a limit of performance a regular intervals? I have seen more accurate scales walk a few grams in my time.
won't ruin it at all, i have done it to my own drivers. You must cut the butt only. cutting 1/4" off shaft length will lower the clubs swing weight 1.5 swingweights. so to get it back to the original you would need to add 2g to ther head per swing weight lost, 1.5 x2 = 3gram. you can either add 3g or lead tape, or fit a head weight that's 3grams heavier.
I'm surprised you didnt weigh the epoxy .One club builder here says that they weigh the epoxy. Ironically they have also been bought out by Club Champion recently.
This was not a very good video showing all the extra weighing that goes into getting the swing weight correct. All this was really was gluing in a shaft.
Personally I think it was a mistake on the customers part for not having his or her club SST pured...it would have been nice to see TXG process in having one done.
As this person wanted logo down. to some that's more important than pured as when pured the logo could be facing in any random direction. some people just cant handle that.
Mikey in his element.
Don't think I've ever seen him so confident 👍

Why do you use a sand instead of glass beads in your mix?
