    Great video and super informative. It was really amazing to see the system designer using the system. Ian, One really big question I had from watching this was to know what would have happened if you had changed the loft on your Scotty Cameron up a degree or more??? How would that have compared to making the change of putter? Can you follow up with that to show the difference? Would LOVE to see that comparison too. Thanks

    Golden Nugget: 15:11
    Blades with lots of MOI over Mallets: Blade mishit will still go straight. Miss hit wont lose distance.
    Softer inserts are needed with hotter firmer golf balls.

    Ian, This was really good... As a guy who is always trying to tweak his game and try new putters now i understand why I keep coming back to my favourite putter... its a 2.5 degree loft with a "Firm" insert (Blade) Short neck style that has always felt just right, .. Always looking for that "Holy Grail" of putters, seems like it's been there all along.... The roll/delivery and Loft specs on this test were pretty revealing and something to think about....

    I went with AMT’s in irons last year. I get my speed smoothly. I have plenty of speed (90+ 6i) but my impact dynamics with long irons aren’t great for peak height apart from my speed. I noticed a big difference in long iron play with the change.
    Added dynamic loft, lighter shaft was easier to shallow angle of attack, and faster clubhead speed led to a drastic change. 4 iron was around 100 feet peak to now 120+

    Putter fitting is so important, whether you are a great putter or a poor putter. I'm not near TXG but was able to get putter fitting at 2nd Swing Golf in AZ. They have a few locations around the country. They use quintic. I needed to shorten a little bit and I also had to reduce loft by 1* for my preferred putter. Ended up with all "greens" after that.

I'm looking to upgrade my 2002 Newport Studio Stainless and have tested the trihot 5k two in this video because it has the same look but significantly better feel. I plan on doing another fit with TxgDean to upgrade it but would love more videos on putters. Seems like uncharted territory for the most highly used club in the bag!

    I play on greens that have poa and bent mixed and they tend to get bumpy later in the day. My putter has 4* of loft, i see you have 1* Ian. Is this due to playing on smooth greens?

    • @frankenstein01
      @frankenstein01 2 года назад +1

      bumpier or slower greens need a higher launch

    • @MarkArnold92660
      @MarkArnold92660 2 года назад

      Yes, if you play bumpier greens, go with more loft. The goal is to get your ball out of the mini depression it sits in and rolling as soon as possible.
      The higher loft will lift the ball out sooner and get it rolling. A lot of pros from years ago used a popping method instead of a smooth stroke. This was because their greens were rougher than today and it helped to get the ball rolling better than a smooth, slow stroke.

    Unpopular opinion: Putting is more about the relationship between the putter and the golfer than it is about the putter. While all of this analysis and tech is "cool", we've reached a point of diminishing returns with putter technology as it yields very little if any material gain on the green.
