Hi Wes, I had cleaned out all the stuff already in the area where you put the washer. There was a bunch of debris and lint in that area. I did not know I was looking for a broken washer and didn't even know there was supposed to be a washer. The stuff in there did not even look like a washer. It must have completely disintegrated in to ashy looking dirt. Thanks for helping me out with this issue. And the timing of the zig zig is also something that I learned about. This was a most helpful video. Thank you for doing it!
Melaniie, do you have the dimension or resource for the washer. I thought he had a video too where he replaced it but I can’t find it. Looking for a washer for about a week now but can’t put my hands on it. I have a stylist 834
I found one of these (well, actually the 534) on the Goodwill auction site for $7 !!! I wanted something REALLY cheap but in reasonable condition so I can take it apart- I am a new sewist and I have become obsessively fascinated with the workings of sewing machines!!🤷🏽♀️😂 I haven’t won the auction yet (it’s over in a few hours) but the description said the machine turns on & the needle moves. So I figure that if I can get it cleaned up and make it sew, that will be amazing- but if not, I can still tinker around with it and learn a few things by dissecting it. Win/win!!!😃 This video was VERY helpful in so many ways…. THANK YOU! 💐
I so happy to be watching your video! I had a very busy day and I want you to know that I enjoy your channel's content. I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for posting!
Mine looks very much like this one. Fixing this for a student. Found out I’m missing a part. Singer 438. The set screw or bolt that holds the needle bar to the movement bar.
Hi, thanks for the video. I hope you could help me, please. I have a Universal brand machine, model UN-25, the thing is the needle in not centered when straight stitch is selected, but moves to the left. Is it normal or it has to be aligned? Thank you very much!
I have a Singer Stylist 834 and when I’m using the flexistitch red patterns machine just goes in reverse. Any idea where I need to start looking for the problem. Thanks.
My Mom had this one and now it's mine and it never worked correctly. I always heard her bitching about it even after being serviced by a Singer agent. The machine was stored and the plastic gears under the machine disintegrated by themselves . I bought the service manual, watched a lot a videos, changed the broken gears, spent hours trying to make it work, but the thread is still breaking each time I reverse to lock the stitch.
It seems like there's a lot of metal inside this machine. From what I could see, the gears are metal. What a waste that they put a plastic washer in it. How much more would a metal washer cost? Singer deserves their fate.
3am; I have a singercfutura xl550. Something went crazy with the embroidery unit and c unable to get anyone to repair it. I need tocfind soneonexwho would be interested in this machine and embroideryvunit. The machinexruns, but c the embroidery unit wentxwacko. I have thexsoftware that goes with the machine. Do you or know of anyone that would be interested in v this machine as a project? It may need a mother board on b the embroidery unit, but I honestly don't know because no obe, not e c en viking who bought out this line, will fix it. So I just am trying to search around.

Where on earth did you get all of those washers? One of the Sewing stores online is asking seven dollars including shipping for one washer.

If anybody reading these comments can tell me where to find the washers or what size they are. I would greatly appreciate that. Thanks.
stop this video at 7:54. It's at that point, the repair guy has the washer purchasing info.
on the screen. oops! At the 7:54 mark, the repair guy has the purchasing info for the washers on the screen.
