Well done! You explained things and demonstrated what you needed us to know. I'm not advanced enough to make repairs, but am very comfortable cleaning and oiling. It's really nice to learn the names and functions of parts! Thanks so much! (I've been sewing for 60 years. I started at 10 yrs old on mom's Singer treadle machine, which I still own!)
I enjoy your channel. My 1951 Singer is iron and steel. It will not embroider butterflies or daisies, but it is built like a battleship. I hate plastic parts, and I especially hate plastic gears on anything. Did you lubricate the new gear? What did you use?
Hi I have a 6268 singer with the same bottom end ...YES the feed dog gear was stripped out I replaced it and it sews Great in straight stitch but I am having real problems with the AUTO TENSION IN ANY OTHER SEWING MODES including zigzag ....does anyone have a video on repair of the AUTO TENSION .....
I bought a similar machine but found out that it only stitches straight stitches and doesn’t do any decorative stitches or zigzag. Is that a problem I can fix or it’s a lost case? Thank you
When my machine has that problem it is because the safety clutch has disengaged because something bound up while sewing and tripped it. I didn't notice a safety clutch on this one and was kinda surprised yet maybe they only run those clutches on the old Singer 111W115 industrial machine like I have ? The grease that is safe for those nylon gears I use a grease for electric motors. Another product I add to my sewing machine oil is called NMF it reduces friction and keeps the grit or lint from creeping into places I have noticed on my machine which is helpful for me. I know that de gummed castor base grease or oil should be an ok choice on those gears if you can find it. For a good oil to get things loose have you ever used Kroil ? I wish there were more sewing machine repair shops around because finding one anymore is a challenge most of the people who did sewing machine repair are retired now or have passed away. Great job and I appreciate you sharing here. Thank you.

for the love of God! help me fix my brother machine! I know I can fix it if you give me some direction. ive already unlocked the foot post, fixed the e1 code and now my feeder teeth and plate aren't going back in place....I can't afford to take it in or get a new machine but I'm smart and driven! HELP ME!
I would rather tell people I have a friend with a sewing machine, then to admit to owning this piece of junk. There isn't enough metal in it to pay for the gas to take it to the junk yard. My newest machine out of the dozen I have is 50 + years old
Very interesting! After a fun filled day in my sewing room, I get to sit with my hand quilting and watch you! Thank you for posting this video!
Thanks for the kind words.

I wish that you would have provided a part number and / or source for the replacement gear.

I haven't seen a clutch in a domestic machine, only industrials. I don't lubricate plastic gears, they don't need it.

Top vertical shaft gear is broken! I have an Easy Thread that has the same issue. That’s my guess

Really can't see any bit of what your doing! To bad it isn't shown close up!
Removing the old gear...
Although, it's way overkill, I would have been at my 20-ton hydraulic H-press giggling *_because_* it was overkill! ;-)
