Everyone on here like "50cc can go this fast or 150cc should be this fast" without ever thinking of how many different parameters there are in an engine!!! Bore and strokes are different, head designs, valve size, valve spring weight, cam profile, gearing, tire/wheel size and weight, carburetor size/efficiency, cvt's alone have huge differences in how they are made, weight of the vehicle, aerodynamics, TIRE SPEED RATINGS! theres too much to list but theres a million reasons vehicles dont just go fast. Your doing great making your bike go faster i appreciate what your doing!
Thank you 16driver16! I never got any of these speed demons to ever show me what their bike can do. Last I checked all phones have cameras and access to GPS.I take no offense to any of it though, just happy people are watching.
@@joeharveyoswell1785 they make the speedometers inaccurate on purpose, chinese 125 unless very expensive will usually do 60mph unless you weigh like 120lbs, unless were talking 2 stroke that probably would do 80mph but i have not seen 125cc 2 stroke chinese, far more common for a Japanese bike or a European scooter
The taotao lancer 150 is an awesome scooter, I've had mine since 2016 and just made it to 5,000km, it's 4 years old and still runs as if it's brand new, fastest I've ever gone on mine was 65mph,but since the tires are small and don't like them spinning around that fast I keep it at 40-45 mph, I bet I can get about 35,000km out of my scooter before something big breaks,I change my oil 10w-30 full synthetic every 1 or 2,000km and the gear oil every 700km or miles, it's an awesome scooter, take good care of it man and ride safe👍
I own a 150cc scooter and I went on a road trip two weeks ago. I was going 60 and getting blown around by a head wind and semi trucks. I got tired of that and opened it up all the way and hunkered down behind the small windshield, leaned my bike just a little into the wind. I picked up speed to 72 mph and was cutting through the backdrafts of the semi trucks like a hot butter through butter. I wasn’t getting blown around as much. I kept it around 70 for over 2 miles then backed off because I was close to the red on the speedometer. I didn’t want to be hard on the scooter and I was pretty happy with the speed it got. It’s good to know that the speed is there if I need it, and that makes me happy
I've been checking out Kachi Kid and I can't say anything but good because he does very realistic videos. Because I'm thinking of getting a 150 will I even be able to tell the difference? And you smart mouth people out there yes I do know the difference between the yellow and the white numbers.
Nope your not bugging bro...The bike is just slower than most. Only rated to go top speed 55 on a non windy day. All bikes are different, I hear the PowerMax is faster stock, but my bike is far from stock. I just needed a platform to build on.
@@kachiskid Me; I'm not really into all the speed but I will say this going up very big hills that is my pet peeve and the reason why I'm upgrading. Last question do you have to take the variator front and rear clutch off in order to put the new belt on? Ohhhh how I hate when the belt pops off and you're in the middle of nowhere with no friends with a truck 😂
@@DC_R Yeah brother I've been there. Breaking a belt sucks. The best way to replace the belt I find is removing the variator first, but the clutch need not be removed. You might want to check a couple of my other videos, the answers to a lot of your questions can be found there. That bike that you saw in the speedrun video no longer exists ... she is now officially a beast!
I get over 50 easily on my 150cc 2019 Gator E-2. If you're not maybe check belt or clutch. If there's a noise when taking off and there's high rpm's showing and your speed keeps dropping. Are tell tell signs of that.

So I’m a senior in high school I would need to drive 45mph on the road. Would I need a 50cc or 150cc scooter? Also would I be able to go on the Highway around 70mph?
Im looking for videos to convince me to get a 150cc engine for my otherwisr 50cc moped. But most videos i find is of 150s thats slower than my 50 :/, so you live in high altitude or using bad gas? My 50cc goes around 70 kmph and 48 mph is 77 kmph. And here in denmark mopeds are normally restricted to 30kmph and ive only removed some of the redtrictions. With a new exhaust and a bigger jet 80 kmph should be achieveable
Falich, if you have already put in the work to get your bike up to those speeds you should be good. A stock Chinese 150cc is going to get you about 55 mph but has the potential for much more. By the end of my testing I should be able to hit close to 70mph, I am currently hitting the 60's. Is your bike a 2 or 4 stroke? I live at 666 above sea level, but at the time of this video, knew very little about tuning, and was a very windy day.
@@kachiskid my current bike is 4 stroke hence why im looking for a 150 gy6 to swap on there, and all i did to it was removing the restriction from the variator and cutting the rpm limit from the cdi.
If you live in South east asia there are many choices of 150cc supermoped from various brands like Yamaha, Honda, Benelli and so on. Most of them can goes up to 140kmph
Well, I am dealing with winter here right now. Getting 5 inches of snow on Monday here so I'm about 2 months away from riding again. I will make a video "how to ride video" and give you a shoutout. For this particular bike you have to have a drivers license because it is registered as a motorcycle. If you get a 50cc you can be younger depending on your state.
The only law i know is florida and that is if you need a drivers license to operate a 150cc moped on the road and it needs to be registered. if you get a 50cc you still need a license and you will not need to register it if you are driving it on a non public road.
That is basically the same in the state of Michigan, only thing I will add is that a 50cc doesn't have to have insurance on it, which is not a good idea. I would insure anything I ride next to someone else's property.
I have a 2021 Piaggio Medley 125. Although the top speed is given at 69MPH, I have done 71 MPH. When I hit 71MPH, the engine started occasionally missing. Also when I open the petrol cap after a long run there is a sudden rush of air. I don't know if the air is rushing out of the tank or into it. eIther the tank is pressurised or the cap vent hole is blocked causing a vacuum in the tank. Does anyone know?
That is one heck of a bike young man. Heck yeah your hitting 70mph, that sucker is liquid cooled and producing 12-15 bhp. Nice. My opinion is that the tank is pressurized, but hopefully someone from Europe can help you more.
So I'm 16 and looking for something cheap that will get me from place to place. I've been looking at the Tao Tao Lancer and the Powermax for a while now. I'm thinking of getting the Powermax because It's alot cheaper. I've also researched and found that the difference between the two is the headlights. Also I'm pretty sure the Pmx has more speed. But I've also heard about major problems with the exhaust. Have you had any problems with it?
Powermax I'm pretty sure has a more powerful engine but I have no proof of that I can find. All word of mouth. I have also heard about the exhaust having problems with rusting, which I never had with the Lancer. I also think that the airbox on the Powermax is over the CVT, rather than under the seat. No matter which you choose, be prepared to turn a wrench or two.
@@kachiskid Hey, thanks for the info and for getting back to me so quickly! After watching alot of videos about both of these Tao Tao Scooters, many of them have stated that the exhaust pipe that they come with is really bad. I’m looking into buying a taotao 150cc scooter. In one of your videos, you recommend replacing some parts on the scooter. What are the parts you recommend immediately replacing?
Hay Jason, the phone app is called DigiHud Pro, and the phone mount is a Vava phone mount. I cover it in this video. ruclips.net/video/RujjyNothfU/видео.html
Easiest way to explain this is...my piston isn't 3 times bigger than yours, so no 3 times the power. That engine only produces 8.9hp. A well tuned 150cc goes about 55-60mph.
Bob, this day was slow because it wasn't tuned, and going against the wind. When you get one expect 55mph when it is broken in. Not one person that has told me how there bike goes 70+ has EVER supplied video proof. With the right CDI, carb., rollers, and clutch you will be able to get up to 60-65mph. The Tao Tao VIP I keep hearing does 60+ stock, again hearing...not seeing. This model only had 8.9hp stock and that is a little low.
70mph is doable but the head/valve work, stonger crank and rod, upgraded just about everything is needed, and that is really expensive, these are built to a price point, cheaper heads, valves, etc all not tuned to match each other very well because that also cost alot of r&d $. You need to buy a Yamaha zuma125 or Honda pcx150(much more expensive) to get the kind of figures your looking for out of the box
Although it seems like a windshield would reduce top speed it will actually increase it by a few MPH and also increase MPG. My Vitacci Clash gets 76 MPG at high speeds without the windshield and 82 MPG with it.
Yes sir. Getting under the windshield of the R3, it is a total different ride. I'm a lightweight version, the wind reeks havoc with me on any 2 wheel machine.
Sorry but this just doesn't make sense to me! I owned a 50cc stock scooter and it did 45mph but this 150cc only goes 3mph faster? What exactly would be the point of the added expense to buy a 150 over a 50? I was actually thinking about buying a 150 scooter soon just for something fun to ride and for running errands but this video makes it clear that buying a 50 and making some very simple mods that are very cheap is the better option by far.
Alright, so for a lot of reasons. First off, if more people used and showed their GPS results on film, it would help. Anyone can say anything, you know? Not that you are. As far as I know, only a couple of us don't use the speedo, and want to prove what are bikes can do. Check this out... ruclips.net/video/E61GDBvHSEs/видео.html my boy felt and was told by his speedo he was hitting 62. Also check of GY6Nick. Now, if you are hitting 45 mph on a stock 50cc, congrats, that is a fast bike. A normal one will hit 35mph. 38mph with a good wind behind them. The reason I got a 150cc is the possibility to upgrade the bike. 50cc engine can only go to a 100cc and that fails most of the time, so really they rock the 80cc BBK, if wanting to upgrade. But that's it! I have had 2 different 171cc top ends on my bike, and currently have a fully Tawianese 180cc on her now. My answer would be, as an upgrade bike, and providing less stress on and engine, so it will last longer. Also each bike is different, but you can get 50 - 55mph on a stock 150cc. Hope this helps.
@@kachiskid that's a fair assessment! I was going off the speedo and not GPS so it's entirely possible the scooter wasn't going as fast as it was saying and I hadn't actually considered that. But it's also confusing because I am seeing alot of videos where people are 55-60mph out of their stock 150s with GPS so I don't know if it's just different results from different manufacturers or just dishonest people making fake videos, but at least I can say that given your results I would be more apt to think your being honest since your results were significantly slower.
@@robertlane6431 Yeah, check on the HP that the engine produces. It even says on my title, I started out at 8.9hp, which is low for a 150cc. I personally think they put a faster engine on the Tao Tao VIP, but I didn't like the look of the bike. This bike is a builders dream if you want to take it apart! I have a couple of different bikes, but the only one I would buy a duplicate of is a 150cc.
@@kachiskid I've been looking at the 2021 Wolf ex 150 because it's relatively cheap and there is a dealership very close to where I am moving to soon with in house financing. It seems like a decent bike for the price and videos people have made are claiming 55-60mph.
@@robertlane6431 Bro, grab that. The Wolf is a nice bike, you can make it do what you want! Bigger carb, advance timing, fast take off, what's not to like?

I understand lighter rollers helps with acceleration off the line but hurts top speed. What are the best changes you can make to get Both better off the line and higher top speed without a big bore kit?
The best way to achieve the highest possible performance through the transmission would be to balance the roller weight to maintain 6800rpm during a WOT acceration.
You really need to know what kinda case the GY6 is in, is it a short or a long case? Normally the long cases will take a 12 or 13 inch tire, and short will have a 10in. tire.
I'm trying to figure out how much faster a 150 is compared to my 49 bintelli sprint and I can't find anything to convince me to get one cause mine reaches 40-45 comfortably would a 150 reach 60mph just fine? That's really what I need with top speed at about 75
I hav3 an wolf 150. it went 57,58 mph when i first got it. Noow it iis down to 51,52. I also didn't do any maitenance this year! I want to get it back to the top speed!
Have you weighed the stock rollers? If so what are they? What are your plans with roller/slider weights? Are you trying to increase top speed or initial acceleration as the goal? It seems your bike wont even hit redline when giving it WOT. That would be the first thing I'd try to fix. Maybe your larger carb isn't helping but hurting things?
Stock rollers were 12 grams, have been changed to 13 grams after I had to replace my belt. I will be installing 14 gram Dr. Pulley sliders and a 115mm variator shortly. I have improved the acceleration with my 171cc Taida engine and an A14 cam for initial testing. Top speed is my goal right now. I will most likely be settling on a A9 or A11 cam soon though. The carb will be replaced with a 28 or 30mm a little later. That struggle to 50mph was just a good starting point. I have another speed run that I will be released soon, she will definitely red line now. Stay tuned.
Kachi's Kid wow you really are overhauling almost everything on that GY6! Have you thought about installing an oil temperature sensor/ gauge and or an oil cooling system with screw on oil filter? I think my main concern at running near or at redline is if I'm in an overheating situation. Do you know what that red light on the left of the dash indicates and what sets it off? Does your bike have a fan that comes on and forces air over the engine head if the temp reaches a certain threshold? Thanks for the videos!
Yes sir, I have an engine cooling fan but waiting on getting an oil cooling system when I get my hands on a 232cc engine. Right now I am running a decompression tube that keeps Hope's engine pretty breathable. The red light on the dash is and idiot light for the engine but if it ever comes on I will just replace the engine. Total overhaul was the plan when I bought such and inexpensive Chinese bike, down to the exhaust, high performance clutch, and final drive gearing. Thanks for watching, it makes all the work worthwhile!! Do you have a bike?
I've had two motorcycles (250cc, 500cc) over the past 10 years but sold my 500 a few weeks ago after not riding it for a few years and currently have nothing but an interest in acquiring a scooter! I may buy a 2017 TaoTao Lancer 150cc with low miles within the next few days so I've been doing a bit of research online about the bike and your first hand impressions have been helpful. My goal for the bike is reliability/longevity, gas mileage and then top speed. The top speed goal is to be able to reach a solid 60mph on a level straightaway. I plan on keeping the bike's specs close to stock except for Dr. Pulley sliders of a heavier weight to reduce RPM's at cruising speeds and to keep the bike from redline (and therefore not overheat) at top speed if possible- which explains why I asked about the oil cooler and engine fan earlier. I plan to do immediate oil, and gear oil changes and inspect all the lines for possible replacement. I've seen quite a bit of a range in the top speed of stock units from users online claiming from 48mph to claims of 65mph. Seems a lot of people believe the break-in method affects this quite a bit though I wonder.
Well welcome back to the family of 2 wheels brother. I didn't get a video of it at the time but 1st week of stock I was able to hit 53mph before I started making adjustment so your 60mph stock is very attainable. As for break-in period you shouldn't have to worry on a used bike but I did have a leak on the brand new 150cc engine possibly because I didn't break her in. On the 171cc I went semi gently for the 1st 300 miles but added that decompression hose right away, wanting that compressed oil to be able to have a little more room to move around. I'm always suspect of peoples claims that don't show us on GPS. That's what started me in wanting to show everyone verified speeds. Speedo's can't be trusted they seem to always be a little top heavy even though mine seems to be accurate, which is weird. Let me know the moment you bring your new baby home!
i just Bought a 2008 Baja SC 150cc for $700 with 700 miles , the guy modified the carb and put some other stuff in it that thig goes almost to 70mph , it was a Puertorican guy I bought it from . super fun , but it have a lots of details to fix , but at least runs and drive .
Really happy for you! Your going to love it! If I had to start over, that is the bike I would choose. What color did you go with? I could use that speaker setup your bike has.
Good question young man, the 125cc and the 150cc are really the same class of bike. Normally 150cc are sold in the U.S. and 125cc's are sold oversea's. Some 125cc are more powerful than some 150's but it really depends on the horsepower that a bike produces. For example my 150cc was only producing 9 hp's when some produce 12 hp's. CC actually means cubic centimeters which is the total volume of it's engine displacement. 150cc has a 57.4mm piston and my 171cc has a 61mm piston. Dude the guinea pig is AWESOME!

Your stock cdi should have a rev limiter built in, mine would turn up to 12k rpm’s. There’s also possibly a washer limiting the cvt system from going to the highest ratio. Mine would literally run 80mph with me and my buddy! It was insane. Even faster on a slight decline.
I have now lol, that’s weird I can’t remember how I got mine to rev so high. I think there was extra signal wire leading off the stator to the cdi. I believe I unplugged it
It is but that doesn't necessarily mean much. I honestly believe that something is not optimal with your bike. Have you looked into proper jets for your elevation? A 150cc bike even chinese should be able to hit 60mph without a sweat.

Yeah, it was a good day.

You need a 150cc. It will never hit 70mph as a stock bike. Your looking at a max speed of 55-60mph.
@@kachiskid Ok thanks for the advice.👍
Anytime.
Can you teach us how to ride it and what age I can ride it at Can I get a shoutout please
Thank you
The only law i know is florida and that is if you need a drivers license to operate a 150cc moped on the road and it needs to be registered. if you get a 50cc you still need a license and you will not need to register it if you are driving it on a non public road.
That is basically the same in the state of Michigan, only thing I will add is that a 50cc doesn't have to have insurance on it, which is not a good idea. I would insure anything I ride next to someone else's property.
hold the gas to the full, that will teach you
I have a 2021 Piaggio Medley 125.

I’m looking into buying a taotao 150cc scooter. In one of your videos, you recommend replacing some parts on the scooter. What are the parts you recommend immediately replacing?
Carb., fuel lines, NGK spark plug. Also change the motor and gear oil before riding.
What app is that on your phone and how you mounting it?
Hay Jason, the phone app is called DigiHud Pro, and the phone mount is a Vava phone mount. I cover it in this video. ruclips.net/video/RujjyNothfU/видео.html
I do appreciate you showing us I was thinking about getting the 150 because the 50cc did do so well thank you for being truthful anyway
I would still recommend the 150cc over the 50cc.
I think yours will do a lot better when you get the carb adjusted right it's running rich right now
That engine and carb. are long gone. I think that engine was upgraded right after this video.
I don't understand my 50cc scooter will do 35 or 40 so for triple the amount of power you only get like five miles an hour or more
Easiest way to explain this is...my piston isn't 3 times bigger than yours, so no 3 times the power. That engine only produces 8.9hp. A well tuned 150cc goes about 55-60mph.
Google says 150cc mopeds go 55-70; why do all the test people do live, show differently? I need a cheap vehicle that goes 60mph
@@16driver16 Well said!

@@joeybell2371 No problem Joey, you as well. Any time you have a question, feel free to ask me.
How tall are you? Im concerned that i would be really cramped and look ridiculous on one of these being 6'2. But love the idea and price.
I am 6'2" also. I have plenty of room to stretch out.

What kind of license for a 150cc gas scooter ?
Regular drivers license but should have a motorcycle endorsement also.
Hey bro,I'm about 280lbs 6'2 I'm getting a scooter 2morrow.is the 150cc a better choice than the 125cc?is it speed or power that the cc means?
Good question young man, the 125cc and the 150cc are really the same class of bike. Normally 150cc are sold in the U.S. and 125cc's are sold oversea's. Some 125cc are more powerful than some 150's but it really depends on the horsepower that a bike produces. For example my 150cc was only producing 9 hp's when some produce 12 hp's. CC actually means cubic centimeters which is the total volume of it's engine displacement. 150cc has a 57.4mm piston and my 171cc has a 61mm piston. Dude the guinea pig is AWESOME!
@@kachiskid lol thanks bro!the guinea pig is just extra vids I put on my channel.ppl seem to like her.my actual channel is about ways to get around drug test but that's not everyone's thing, still helps ppl in a jam tho.well thanks for the answers on the scooters bro I had no idea what the cc even meant lol.ill hit a like on ur video and subscribe incase you make any more!

Hi, I am Chef John. Master Drummer. I have a Honda Goldwing and I am thinking about selling it and getting 150 moped. It's so big and I don't want to pay $350 for traffic school and a motorcycle license. I love it and I have never laid it down. But I want to know what you think because you are such a cool guy. Peace & Blessing's
Hey Chef. Thank you for the compliment. A Goldwing is a HUGE bike. Going from that to a scooter is a major step. Not sure where you live, but in most states your have to still get and endorsement because anything over 50cc is classified as a motorcycle. It would be the best of both world's to keep the motorcycle, and get a scooter. Have you ever ridden a scooter? Are you a big highway driver?
How much miles can it goes?
80 - 100 miles per fill up.
I got a CVT driven 150cc that tops out at 60+ in a tuck. 55+ sitting up.
Awesome. That is doing exactly what it should.
Guess the mods didnt help much. 150s supposed to do 60+ ?
Depends on the bike, they have different HP ratings. There is a reason all of the advertisements say up to 55mph.
love the Beat in this video! who produced it?
The name of the song is "Intentions" Unknown artist, found in youtube free music.
@@kachiskid cool man appreciatr the reply. That scooter is dope thinking of buying one soon. Was thinking of getting a 50 cc but 30 mph top speed sounds kinda weak. It was fast to me when i was a 13 year old growing up wanting one but now id probly have mpre fun on a 150 cc. Altho id probly have to get a different license to operate one in nyc
No problem bro, Pretty much every city is the same on this but, 50cc's can be ridden with anyone with a license, anything over.. (80cc, 100cc, 125cc, 150cc) your suppose to have your motorcycle endorsement. They have to be registered and should have insurance on them. The cops in your city have better things to do then harass scooter owners I would think. Know how to ride, follow the laws (for the most point) and they should leave you alone.

Almost everything, what's up?
What is the techno song I recognize it from trailer park boys
That song is called Da' Train by MC ADE. Late 80's classic Detroit song.
That little Coupe look good 👍
It does!
My 50cc does 40 most the time but I feel like the gearing is different and that’s why it looks like it on a 50
3 times the cc's, doesn't mean 3 times the power. 50 - 55 mph is what to expect from a gy6 150.
Love the song !!!
Thank you.
So is a sustained 45 mph about it?
53-55mph is what you'll get before the belt is broken in. 8.9hp engine.
@@kachiskid So, long term top speed is about 55?
@@cheaprides6678 Yup, and that is min. A lot of people get them and say they go faster but of course no one produced any video evidence. That is what happens when your belt is worn. Snapped shortly after.

Is 150cc enough for a 240 lb man?
Yes, you should be fine. 49ccscoot, is around that weight and he rides a 50cc scooter. You might want to ride or rent one before buying just to make sure it is right for you.
Kachi's Kid thanks!
Anytime.
My marshal 150cc go 60mph am 270 pounds
Nice.
When you install carburetor 26th you fell some difference
Nope. Did it wrong, didn't have a big bore or upgraded exhaust, at the time. Might have taken away from the speed.
for how much can i buy like this bike
www.scootermadness.com/taotao-lancer-150-gas-scooter/
Not tryna hate but that seems slow to me man I have a 50cc tao and it does 42mph topped out, and my 150cc roketa does well over 70mph stock, but on another tip, nice vid and I dont know what it is but I love these scooters/mopeds man they hella fun to ride an add mods to, I drive them way more than my car or truck even in the winter now. Holla
Thanks bro, yeah the bike I bought had only 8.9hps and was only rated to hit 55 mph on a non-windy day, which this was not. In the scheme of things, it would do me no good to get a bike that already went 70, nothing to build on. I just wanted to tear apart a GY6, and build my own bike. Please take no offense to this, but everyone who comments on this video how fast their bikes are never produces a video of it...what's up with that?

Motor cycle license for a 150cc ?
Yup, anything that is over 49cc is considered a motorcycle by the DMV in most states. I just heard Florida is a little different.
Upgrade the cdi box, my 150 moped went over 65mph on a flat surface.
lol. I will have to look into that.
Your stock cdi should have a rev limiter built in, mine would turn up to 12k rpm’s. There’s also possibly a washer limiting the cvt system from going to the highest ratio. Mine would literally run 80mph with me and my buddy! It was insane. Even faster on a slight decline.
@@peytonzahnd598 yes bro, I know...have you seen this...? ruclips.net/video/i5OHZl14ce8/видео.html
I have now lol, that’s weird I can’t remember how I got mine to rev so high. I think there was extra signal wire leading off the stator to the cdi. I believe I unplugged it
My gy6 150 was turning some serious rpm’s. I’d hold it wide open for miles🤣
name of program kmh mph?

Something is very wrong. My stock pcx150 destroys this in acceleration and top speed.
PCX is a fuel injected Honda right? It should....as long as your having fun.
It is but that doesn't necessarily mean much. I honestly believe that something is not optimal with your bike. Have you looked into proper jets for your elevation? A 150cc bike even chinese should be able to hit 60mph without a sweat.
@@thebulgarianguy8461 yeah a lot of people say that, but that is why the video was made. The bike is rated to hit 55 mph on a non-windy day. The original engine was only producing 8.9 hp. Either way that engine is long gone, currently running a 171cc Taida. Out of 62 videos produced, this was the 3rd one. Since that time a lot has been done but I only get about 4 months a year to work on it. Yup got lots of jets just haven't been able to film my tuning series.
