I too was having problems with the green light timing out, but I might have found a solution. I couldn't get my car started so I wanted to see how long the green light stays on. i timed it four or five times and the green light stayed on for around 5 seconds. However, when I hooked it up again it stayed on much longer (at least 10 seconds). I don't know if that was an anomaly.
I’ve always thought you were to connect the positive first, then the ground. But the fact that is a specific time period to turn this on kills it for me. I wanted this for my sister, and there is no way she could get into her car in a timely manner. This is a design flaw, as far as I can tell.
I think there is an override button on this that you can hold down for a few seconds and it will stay green. It's usually used for a battery that is completely dead or under 25%.
Tonight my sons ford fusion would not start. I bought this about a month ago so it’s been charging for weeks. I had all the blue lights. It did not charge the battery. Saw the green light but from your explanation I wasn’t aware of the time limit. I ended up boosting it with another car and saw your video afterwards. I was going to return it but thanks to you I understand what happened
I am not really sure. I have never had that happen. It may mean you either connected it backwards or that battery has shorted out internally. You might see if the owners manual has anything about this.
You're amazing, I didn't even know you're timed based off the light, gonna try this tomorrow with a friend hopefully it works. Edit: It worked, how they don't put that in the manual IDK.
No. This is a booster, not a charger. In order to charge a car battery it would need an output port that output a constant 18 volts. The ports on this only output 5 volts.
You can charge it with any USB-C cable. However, the amperage of your charger will determine how long it will take to charge. A 0.5 amp may takes days to charge it, whereas a 2.4 amp charger will only take 8 hours.
I must be doing something wrong today (normally this gadget works for me) BUT once when it did not work, it was because I did not put it in the exact proper spot for the black cable. But now it is fully charged, my car is not totally dead (the lights come on) but it will not get the car started. Any recommendations. I did recently get my car serviced and I was told by the dealership that my battery is just fine (I rarely drive this car but I do try to start it daily but I did not start it for 2 straight days)
Hmmm...? Something strange is going on. If you just had the car serviced and they battery was good, but now it is dead, that say there might be another cause. This might sound stupid, but try cleaning you battery post and the cable connectors really good. Make them shine. Many times a bad connection can cause what you are experiencing. If that does not fix the problem I would get a mechanic to look at it. You may have a short somewhere.
@@nothingbutgadgets I decided to totally trust you LOLOL So when the green light came on I decided to count down the seconds b4 it turned off (about 19) and that was it So I left the car door open and after the green light came on I I RAN to the drivers seat and got there in 18 seconds and the car started right up with NO hesitation LOLOL
When you tried to start your car before the jump, you barely held it to see if it would catch. Makes me think it wasn't dead. My friend has jumped her car several times and she's the reason I'm looking for other reviews.
The battery was dead to the point it could not start the vehicle. If a lead acid car battery is ever let to drain down to zero, it will be destroyed and require replacement.
Have tried unplugging the jumper cables and letting it set for five minutes. This device will not reset itself untill the jumper cables are unplugged for a while.
@@nothingbutgadgets thank you so much for responding and i will keep it unplugged for a bit, and when i’m trying to connect the cables the 4 battery lights will go off but i can still see the blue light on the front and the side . is that okay if the battery lights are off but i still see the blue on the front and side ?
@@lurk1284 If you are talking about needing a new car battery, you can take it to most auto parts stores like Autozone OrIlie's or even Walmart to get it tested for free. However, your car battery being bad, should not prevent your start pack from working properly.
I guess this will be a glorified power bank. I timed it a few times a got between 7-12 seconds. It worked twice with help, but I could not use it the third time by myself.
That was probably for the best. Not all of them have such a short time limit, but they all have it. There must be some technical reason for. My guess it is some sort of protection system to prevent overheating and battery damage.

Thank you for this video. My husband passed last year and purchased me one before he passed to make sure I had one. Great description

Yeah, the time limit is a real pain. I am not sure of the reason for it either.
I used mine for the first time. I own a truck. My battery on passenger side but I walked in front of truck. It started it right up.
Thanks for commenting. Glad it worked.
Great review. What size engine is your vehicle? Curious how this jumper would perform for a diesel engine🤔
My engine is a 6.0 Gasolina.
Works great on a GM 5.7, 4.3, and 3.8

Which button, mine last 3-5 seconds at boost 14 volts then shuts off… frustrating

Yeah, the time limit is a bit difficult if you are by yourself. It works better if you have two people.
What if there is a red light and it is making a sustained beep sound when connected to the battery?

The unit itself turns off or goes into standby mode even though you turned the switch on?

How do I recharge it? is that what the little plug hole is for? i think my cell phone charger would fit there.
If you will go to 1:25 in the video I talk about how to charge it.
Can you recommend an AC adapter charger for this??
This one here is good. #ad. amzn.to/4b1uBWQ
So is there something out there that acts as both a jumper and charger?
Well, yes, but it may not be what you are talking about. Here is one that does both charging and boosting. #ad amzn.to/3INesZn

I tried to jump start my car and it has solid red light and steady beep. What should I do?
Sounds like it may be connected in reverse or your battery had an internal short.
Can this be used as a car battery charger??

You are correct. It is not 2500 amps. It is 2500 mAh, which stands for Milliampere-hour.
Why isn't my flashlight not working? Help
Have you tried holding the power button down for 3 seconds?
Be sure and turn it on with the side switch, then press the top power button and hold it.
Thank you
You're very welcome.
