I have to stop you there, ALWAYS connect the positive (+) terminal first and the negative (-) terminal last on a negative earth vehicle (as most are these days). When disconnecting you should disconnect the - first and the + last.

that is only for cable jumpers which go directly to another battery. For a jumpstarter theres no need since it is off while you are connecting so no sparks there, then you turn it on
