My casual friends laughed at me picking Dallas to take the West. Especially when they saw their 1st rd matchup with Vegas. My response to them was that they clearly haven't watched this team before the start of the playoffs. Dallas is deeeeeep, and Jake is elite. Hard to beat a team like Dallas when you can only rely on McDavid, Draisatl and Hyman. They are a 1 line club. This is what Dallas does and they've been doing it all postseason. No lead is safe. That Edmonton crowd was absolutely stunned. As a Rangers fan I really want Edmonton to take this series because they are the easier team but I just don't see it happening. Stars/Rangers Finals. Depth vs. depth... elite goalie vs. elite goalie. That's the best matchup by far. We'll see what happens though, alot of hockey to be played.

Calgary Flames fans know from experience what Dallas can be like. Flames thought Round 1 of the 2022 playoffs would be a cakewalk, but Dallas took it to Game 7 overtime. Despite losing to the Flames in that overtime thanks to an impossible-angle Johnny Gaudreau shot, the Stars earned a ton of respect, especially with Otter's insane goaltending. It’s hard to contain them as the opposing team when you don’t know whose turn it is to step up for them that game. Plus a defense that’s not afraid to get in front of pucks, plays the boards very well, and can also score goals consistently. then Otter in net really stepping up for the team the whole playoffs, and when he had his slump early this year, Wedgewood stepped up & did his part. Very deep & well rounded lineup, it’s almost impossible to contain it when anyone at anytime can step up & change the game around.

That last shot/goal for the hatrick was why Canucks fans were so upset about the final 2 games. The canucks were going for perfect touches to get clean open net finishes and being fancy with it, when they could have kept throwing the puck at the net to actually test Skinner. They didn't start testing him until the final part of the game when they were uber desperate and still almost brought it back. In both game 6 and 7, not were they getting outplayed, they didn't even try and test the guy with routine shots. The same goalie that had been shakey all playoffs up until then.

I'm a Canucks fan and I've seen MANY Oilers games where they explode with momentum either in just the beginning of the 1st or the whole 1st period just to die in the next 2. Especially in their 3 last series against LA, mainly in their home games, Edmonton has such a strong start, but uses all their energy, thinking they've already won setting themselves up to collapse miserably later. It's honestly embarrassing to watch... A major issue that all the Canadian teams (including Vancouver) have is that they can't play a full 60 minutes (or more if there's OT). The Canucks were kinda the opposite of the Oilers by playing awful the whole game and only start playing decent in the end of the 3rd. This year they were so lucky to comeback and win a few games that way, but it clearly showed in the VANvsEDM series that you can't wait that long every time and expect to win...

All Dallas has to do is what the Canucks did all season long against the oilers except the last 2 games when the canucks suddenly forgot how to stick to their system. And that's stick to their system. The Oilers really struggle against teams who maintain discipline to their structure. They'll break first.
Full credit to the Oilers, for one thing....they play pretty well when they are desperate. But if Dallas just elevates a little when the Oilers are desperate they can control and counter attack.
This is so frustrating as a canuck fan because the reality is the Oilers upset us, no matter what biased eastern media said. It sucks the canucks couldn't maintain discipline. Hopefully Dallas doesn't lose focus because the Oilers can beat them if they do.

The most dangerous lead in hockey (especially playoffs) is the 2 goal lead and Oilers proved it in the 2nd. You can't let a guy like Robertson get back his scoring touch in a series that's going to be close. Especially now with Hintz back, it's going to be an uphill battle and Skinner can't let a little fake by Robertson get that bank goal for the hatty. I was rooting for Vancouver to cap off their dark horse season and Dallas was my #2 pick since I have no dog in the fight for the cup this season. But I still am enjoying tight-knit hockey.

Dallas can already roll 4 lines, but with Hintz back they can do it more comfortability. Robertson scoring is good news for Dallas, but bad news for Edmonton. Bouchard is the definition of a defensive liability, he's so bad around his own net, but hey he redeems all of that for his offence... Also Nurse is making 9.25M for the next 5 years and he looks like a 3rd pairing defensemen. Anyways Stars in 5.
